Changing to Redline oil smoothed out the shifting noticeably for my SVTC.

Some years ago while traveling from Long Island to Florida via Asheville, NC, I had a voltage regulator go intermittent, difficult to diagnose as it would indicate charging well when tested until I was fortunate one time to see it kick in and out a few times. Fuel filter could be old and clogged as already mentioned. Next time when it sputters to a stop, open the gas cap and listen for suction, I've had the fuel tank vent clog in the past, once the negative pressure in the tank increases enough, fuel will not flow to the carbs.

When I had my 99, the EBC HH pads solved the problem for me.

I'm also using the Redline 20w50, huge difference, less engine noise, runs cooler (subjective). I'll continue to use the Redline.

Mine was as you described when I took delivery. After some trouble shooting, the relay behind the left saddle bag was not installed. A foam block was there instead and is apparently a poor conductor of electricity. The dealership ordered and gave me the relay, I installed and problem solved. Check to see if your relay is there.

Would you post a picture of your reservoir cap removed from the reservoir. Is it possible the dipstick came out of the cap?

I use mine on occasion when needed. Additionally, it functions going forward as well, great for rolling the SVTC onto the motorcycle lift in the garage.
