That's what I thought too. FoxIT has always been rock solid for me. Not too weird on the MS app. It's an accounting software package they bought in their ascension to monopoly. I've never had a high opinion of it & the only person in the company in love with it is the sys op. I sort of want to give MS the benefit of the doubt & see what their new stuff is about so I hate to disable Edge & Cortana before taking it around the block. Only problem seems to be that the only way to play with new toys these days is to allow everyone to have access to everything I do, say, think, own & I'm sure I'm leaving something out but they've got that covered.

Today's episode: After the FREE upgrade we installed a graphics card ($80) to make squares square & circles round. All OK so far... UNTIL I get in a MS app & do a screen presentation before sending to printer & it crashes the app. Never had that happen before. Then I go to FoxIt PDF (I ditched Acrobat years ago) & it crashes 1st time. Never happened before. Seems to be doing OK 2nd time though. I must mention that MS appears to be doing to Adobe Acrobat what they did to Netscape Navigator. (Kill it by making the MS version default & free) By default PDF's now open in the new MS Edge browser as if they are a webpage. Still no ability to edit or manipulate (yet) as other free PDF apps though. UNLESS perhaps in my haste I opted out of their fancy features by saying I didn't want them holding a lien on my firstborn. ??? (Must say I felt insulted to make a monkey go through a maze to get the banana so I could see how wonderful Edge is. Didn't participate.) Vista to XP was OK but trashed my Google Favorites library & erased my email. As a result I quit saving good sites to Favorites years ago. Why bother to build a library if an "upgrade" is going to wreck it? XP to 7 was good for me. 7 to 10? It's "free".

Well that's what you get for rushing through! 70° sunny & perfect here. I understand. Long way to go, short time to get there. Looks like you'll be wet the next 2 days. Maybe it will move through faster. You're headed west & it's going east. I've got an adventurous cousin that retired in Mexico. If you ditch the bike at his place I'll fly down & bring it back. NO I DO NOT SAY THAT! I'll fly down & ride it. Yeah that's more like it.

Don't forget, free museum tour, free food, free parts bike & free lodging if you're not picky & from reading your previous trip, my accommodations are superb! Also I might have a contact for you near Pico de Orizaba. I must say though that I leave for Huntsville 7PM Friday & will be there until Sunday 6PM. My CP is in my profile.

I'm confused. Can't read the direction signs. Obviously an Alabama rest stop. I65 at Tennessee line? Don't understand the flags. Tenn. minus 2 stars in an AL rest stop? If so those palms are a kind of new thing up there. They're not natural but do let you know you're getting closer to the Gulf. If that's where you are we'll meet today! ???

Jfman I just added you to my friend list although you are anything but! 2 nights in a row I'm up after midnight reading about a 70 year old woman from Wisconsin riding a Honda 250 across South America. And she posted a link to a blog about 2 guys that were more interesting than her? I can't keep this up! When you head west from Atlanta if you head through Birmingham area let's get together. I live and work east of Birmingham so touch base before you get to Pell City.

I'll give MS a thumbs up for making it work. In the early stages it said my 7 year old Dell running Win 7 wasn't a candidate because the graphics card wasn't supported. It's the original dual monitor Nvidia card that came from Dell. After awhile though MS wrote a universal driver to support unsupported cards & I became a candidate. YEAH! Thumbs down for 2 reasons. 1. Dual monitors only work in duplicate mode. 2. Resolution is not as good as it was in Win 7. Bottom line is I live with 1 monitor & bad graphics or upgrade the video card that worked fine Friday. But hey, it DOES work!

Perhaps a little spray contact cleaner on the switch? When I was reading your adventure novel last night I didn't realize YOU are the OP. Just clicked the link, was captured & went to page one & couldn't put it down! AND YOU'RE GOING BACK??? Wow! I'd scratch that off MY bucket list. Do you expect to cover that kind of terrain on this trip? No way I could wrestle a Venture through that! Since you've been there done that what are you doing different this time? Skid plate to keep the collector on the bike? AK47? Bullet proof jerry cans? I'm trying to discipline myself to never go back to that website. It looks like a Zane Grey REAL reality series! Can't wait for your next installment.

Screen resolution??? This is why I HATE upgrades. If it ain't broke why break it? Happens every time our sysop says to upgrade. Something gets jacked up in the process & all he cares about is the stupid monkey/banana maze "feature"! I'd rather see Paul Simon's wife sing Good Times Bad Times but that doesn't put money on the table either. #1 . I do graphics. I need circles to be round & squares to be square. Worked fine in XP & 7. NOT SO IN 10. He was about to head off declaring victory (got me to upgrade & the computer still runs) until I threatened him with his life. He messed with screen settings 30 minutes & snuck off muttering, "Think it's better... maybe need to adjust something for Corel." So what I've got now are oblong circles, rectangular squares, what looks to me like a low resolution screen in everything with something different. Looks bleached out or something. Tried all resolutions & none are acceptable. Probably need to upgrade the graphics card that worked fine Friday? #2 The security thing. He was standing over my shoulder during the final install & when it prompted me to give MS license to rule my life BS I quickly said NO. He is very confused and thinks I'm weird. I'll have to go back & re read this entire thread to see if the simple solution is already posted but I don't want MS having access to any more than I have to. Surely someone has written an app to defeat MS habit of resetting the security setting every time they install updates. ???

Shopping for a Tablet. What features are important
Venture n Dixie replied to ragtop69gs's topic in Watering Hole
All the above are valid cases to have one of these! http://ebookfriendly.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Proporta-BeachBuoy-Waterproof-Tablet-and-E-reader-Case-540x540.jpg -

Bet you're kicking yourself for not researching the voice recognition software when you had all your digits! Just get an iPhone! Hope you heal quickly. Gonna be quiet around here.

Based on our experience with their accounting software I predict w10 is the beginning of subscription based os. Call me a conspiracy nut.

Which is why I'm still on the fence. 1 The original Trojan horse was also free. 2 We run another piece of MS software at work. We pay MS a tidy annual sum to have the PRIVILEGE to PAY an authorized vendor for SUPPORT for their BAD product! The obvious question is, why would we be so STUPID? The short answer is the sysop is a MS fanboy nerd and convinced management their wasn't life outside of MS. Now we're so heavily invested there ISN'T life outside of MS. It gets worse but I'll stop there.

The Strangest Bike I have Ever Seen......
Venture n Dixie replied to Indian's topic in Watering Hole
I could be wrong but I think he was at Barber's Vintage Festival last year. I'm almost certain that bike was INSIDE the museum! -
Except in my case. My wife seems to be allergic to mine.
