  1. Hey Condor, I think that is the best suggestion yet. Think of what they could learn. And, comming from venture riders. How could it get any better than that? Steve
  2. Hey Jeff, thought about you going to get your bike last weekend. Can't wait to see the pics. If you want to try some highway miles with it, come on down. I'm thinking that maybe around a 250 / 400 might be a better size for what I want, kinda like Seforemans XT225. Something like that might just be the ticket. That's a beauty! Steve
  3. If I need Yamaha parts, I order from my local Yamaha shop. Nice to keep it close to home. And, they treat me right. Steve
  4. Well, everything that everyone has mentioned is great, but the thing that has me AMAZED, is that they called you for your opinion! We all dream about that happening, right? Don't these yamaha engineers get paid to design motorcycles for us to ride? I mean, it's great to be asked for opinons, but what the hey, it's their job to get it right. Good luck, Steve
  5. Can't really think of a place for this, but I've got a 86VR, a 05 RSTD and a 80 xs650 bobber, (work in progress) So, I'm thinking that I really don't need two BIG bikes, so I might just as well get a 650 dual purpose bike. It seems like a nice combination to me: 05 RSTD (go anywhere bike) xs 650 Bobber (fun little hot rod) and a dual purpose bike, (maybe go to work, the woods, just blast around) Of course this means the 86 VR has got to go. One last thing, money is an object. What do you all think? Steve
  6. I agree, I carry a plug kit and an inflator, but would only use it to get somewhere. On a car I've plugged tires, but at least if one went flat, I still had three more. On my bike, I've only got TWO tires, and I'm not willing to trust a plug. Just my opinion, but I'm sticking to it. Steve
  7. I'll just say this Sarge, There is no noise that they pick up better than air / wind! Trial and error will be the way to find out though. Good Luck, Steve
  8. Congratulation Spear, That's very cool. Steve
  9. I just put an add in the classifieds, but for you guys who don't go there, I'm building a xs650 bobber and need some mirrors, well I looked over at my 05-RSTD, and the mirrors looked like a perfect fit, so I took one off and put on the xs, and it is just what I need. So any of you guys who switched to billet mirrors and have your old stock ones collecting dust, I can use them. Thanks, Steve
  10. My condolences to his family and friends. Steve
  11. Offended?, I don't think so. Everyone involved should be very proud of what they are doing for our veterans. Hell, I'm proud of what they are doing, and I'm way up here in Wisconsin. I can only hope that there is more of this going on around the country. Does my heart good to read something like this. Thanks, Steve
  12. That was a good lesson. Thanks, Steve
  13. What is the reason that I can't use a 55w (H3) in my driving lights? I did wire the driving lights using a relay and fuse. It is on an 05 RSTD, nothing but lights. BTW, I've read all of the threads regarding this, seems like they mostly concern a venture. Steve
  14. Hey Gary, I'm very happy for you. I know that you'll love being back in the saddle again. Steve
  15. I bought the grip puppies for my 05 RSTD. Same as the grips on my 86 VR. Very comfortable. Haven't installed them yet. Always too much to do. Gotta get the running lights hooked up on the RSTD, but mostly gotta get my 80 xs650 Bobber up and running. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much fun. Steve
  16. Pilot, Thanks alot! I didn't know that he was gone, but I'll miss his artwork too. He did leave a great legacy though. Back in the 70's, I had a place that had 3 bedrooms, one for me, one for my kids and one for my bikes. That room had one wall solid David Mann, easyrider centerfolds. This slideshow brings back some wonderful memories. I have a box in the basement with all of those centerfolds. I will resurect that wall in my garage/shop. And the song----------Perfect. Thanks for the memories, Steve
  17. Thanks for the headsup, got me a room at the oberlin inn. Steve
  18. They ride what they get paid to ride------seems simple to me. Who cares what it is? And more importantly, who cares what they ride? Steve
  19. The Rokon, WILL get you anywhere. I hillclimbed one of them years ago. Fill the tires with spare gas. Away you go-------- Steve
  20. Hey Bill, came up on the thumbnail box on my computer---- that's a beauty, what is it?-------Looks like 150mph standing still Steve
  21. Hey Dray, when your wife goes to make a salad, and finds her bowl on your HEAD--------she is not going to be happy.:rotf: Steve

I would have told you to buy Edsets. I've had and used them for a year or so, and love them. Steve
  23. There is no such thing as a reputable insurance company Popeye has it figrured out! Steve
  24. Sounds like somone has a whining wife. He should be so lucky to take the harley out for a ride. He'd love it! I have 3 yamahas now, also have had 3 harleys, loved them. Hey, like I always say: THE BEST BIKE IS THE BIKE YOU LIKE! Gotta love em all. Steve
  25. I'm more interested in knowing if there was any difference in handling at highway speeds? Steve
