  1. I always have a spare key for the bike I'm riding. Seems smart to me. Steve
  2. Edset speakers are awesome, maybe you should look at your helmet and see how you could improve the earphone setup. Steve
  3. Yup, you were riding with the wrong group. Ride at your own comfort level and enjoy the ride. That's what it's all about right? Find a new group to ride with. Steve
  4. Bob, I remember that pretty white bike and trailer. Really not what I wanted to hear, but I guess all that I can say is heal up and take care of yourself. Rick, thanks for letting us know. Steve
  5. Eight lane highway? Get the hell out of there now! Why in your right mind would you do that? Too many people for sure. steve
  6. Hey Bill, I'm glad that you started it. I agree 100%! How could that possibly be topped? Especially the opening ceremony. Absolutely awesome! There will always be the naysayers. Can't seem to get rid of them. Steve
  7. Being from Wisconsin, I avoid Door county like the plague. As far as I'm concerned it's for tourists. Tha'ts not to say that it's not beautiful, just too many people. Great riding in the Kettle Moraine and along the Lake Michigan shore, especially from Sheboygan north on LS. Plus some good camping. If you come through my neck of the woods, stop in and say hi. camping around here too. I'm on the way to LM. If you go online or to a gps and pick the shortest route from you to me, you will find some geat roads. (not fastest) Just remembered, I'll be gone (over to Lake Michigan) till Sun. Steve
  8. Hello,

I have an 05 RSTD set up solo also, and would love to see the mods that you made to your air boxes.

    Steve

  9. Awesome job! Are you saying that now the fairing unclips like the windshield would normally? And isn't the radio up there too? The tourpack unclips like the backrest did? Steve
  10. I'd go with Arkansas or Tennesee Eteve
  11. I put a pair of 06, slash cuts on my 05 RSTD. To remove the catylitic converter, drill a series of say, 1/4" holes around the outside of the converter (near each other) and from the other end knock it out. It's very simple. You will need a long drill bit. Steve
  12. Just one thought: You guys are riding where there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many people. Steve
  13. I also ride an 05 RSTD and do not have any neck pain after riding all day. You might just want to look at something other than the bars, maybe the seat postion, or ???, then again maybe it is the bars. Just want you to think about the whole picture. Steve
  14. You actually answered yourself very well by finding the instructions. The key to running boards is simply time on the water. The thing that you will find that you will be changing and adjusting is the tension on the clip. It is trial and error. Too little preasure and it will trip too easily and too much preasure and it won't trip. One other thing that you will want to experiment with is the lead length from the board to the bait. Try 10', try 20' try 50'--again, experiment. Depending on what you might be fishing for, you might just want to add a little lead between the board and the lure. Use them and have fun, Steve
  15. The question was, does it matter, do we care. It probably does matter, but I don't care. Steve
  16. Yeah, and bring that trailer:guitarist 2: Steve
  17. Boy, I hope you get a response to this. I tried to buy one this spring. it was on ebay and in Georgia. Homemade aluminum teardrop. Gorgeous. And of course I need a trailer like I need a hole in the head, but it would have looked good behind my 05 RSTD. I think that my one pair of jeans, one pair of socks and two T shirts will fit in my bags. I'll look at home at my emails and see if I still have his address and if I do, I'll see if he had some sort of plans. I didn't get it by the way. Steve
  18. Boy, that is one beautiful rig Gary. I can understand your feelings about seeing it go Steve
  19. Hey Todd, the road rash will heal, ugly but we both know that in time it'll be all gone, on the other hand the bike will take a bit to be back again. The best to you, Steve
  20. I had an 86 VR and was a great bike, now I have a 05 RSTD------Man, I love this bike! It such a treat to ride. I just had to sell the 86VR. I've never ridden a 2nd gen venture so I can't tell you the difference there, but that RSTD is a blast to ride. Steve
  21. I'm sorry to hear that you went down, but am very glad that your daughter didn't get hurt. My wife, the best, has been really sweet too I think she's just waiting until I'm well so she can kill me. Now that is funny. (and just might be true) Steve
  22. Geez Todd, I just read this, I'm really sorry to hear that you went down and your bike is all messed up, and I'm glad that your not hurt any worse than you are. I know, any kind of hurt is not a good thing. You'll have to ride one of your other bikes till the 86 is fixed back up. you've probably thought of this, but maybe there are some free parts here at venturerider.org. Heal up and keep the faith, Steve
  23. Hate to admit how many times I've done that. In fact just did it again the other day. I always look there first now. Steve
  24. It's a feeling that imediately comes up when I think about it. Can you imagine a motorcycle falling on top of you (or my little grandson) and you didn't have the ability to get out of the way? Moving or standing still. My bikes don't have a passenger seat (86 sold) and I don't think anyone will be strapping me down. There might be someone out there that has a reason to discuss this further, but in my opinion, it just plain defies logic and common sense. Just my opinion, Steve
  25. Let me be first------I think that is an unthinkable idea. I'll stop here. But last year I took my 5 yr old grandson for his first ride--He loved it. Steve
