  1. Thanks for the replys. I couldn't really believe that I was the only one this happened to. I'll sure give this lots more effort, but I'm waiting for my buddy to stop by so there are two extra hands pushing and pulling. I'll let you all know how this works out. Steve
  2. When I left Don's, I must have packed too much stuff in the bags, (well, OK, I know I did) and my right bag is VERY stuck shut. I can release the front latch, but not the back one. I have tried pushing, pulling and every form of violent acts to get it open short of destroying it. My thought is somehow to take the hinge apart. it seems that there are two roll pins, front and back. I tried an easy out last night, but they didn't move. I called two dealers and talked with their parts and service guys, and the computer blowup didn't show the breakdown of the hinge. And the service depts, had never run into this problem. I'm now thinking if we have a small enough aircraft drill bit here, I might try and drill out the roll pin. (I'm assuming that there is one) Anyone run into this? Steve
  3. Well put for sure. Eck, your a stand up guy----Kudos to you. Steve
  4. Thanks for the remider and I'm glad they didn't get hurt. I think about that every time I pass a semi. In fact, if there is a slower vehicle passing a semi in front of me, I wait back till he pulls over into the right lane, then I go by quickly. Steve
  5. What do you do with all of your spare time? Nothing short of amazing!!! And she still loves you!!! Thanks Eileen---- Steve
  6. Hey Dragonrider, I'd blame 86er if I was you----I should've had more than one shot of the black death. It was a real treat to meat Jonha. My favorite part was when he actually washed his bike. Looked great! Steve
  7. Just did it last week and I'd say two things, have the U-joint at a 90 deg, so it only swivels straigt up and down and in gear. Steve
  8. So, is your zigzagging bringing you up here to Wisconsin? If so, stop in and say hi, Steve
  9. Dave, As far as I know, you can't add pics to PMs, but as far as the album, maybe it's the size. Steve
  10. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, get on each and go for a ride, then you'll know. Good luck choosing, Steve
  11. Isn't it just amazing how a bolt that size can be at the perfect angle to go straight into that tire:shock3: and lodge there. Glad you were able get it fixed. I saw his trunk, I would have thought the pile of stuff on the ground would have been bigger. I just pulled a big bolt out of my 250 a couple weeks ago and plugged it too. Steve
  12. Bob, you hit a deer with your bike and DID'NT go down is something to be very thankful for. I can't even tell you how many dead deer I saw going to and from Don's last weekend. I'm on constant lookout. In fact there was one LIVE deer waiting to cross I-80 on the south side of Chicago. Needless to say, I slowed along with everyone else, but thought, what are you thinking? (to the deer) He was thinking of crossing probably 8 lanes of traffic. Glad you came out of this OK, Steve
  13. This was my first MD, and it was awesome. I tried to meet as many people as possible, and that was the highlight for me, to say nothing of all the different bikes. Don, when I saw all of the empty toilet paper rolls in the bathroom on Sun am, I just laughted, reminded me of when there were women at my house. The food was nothing short of great, and Lanna's cheese cake? THE BEST!!! Thank you for having us all there, and I couldn't imaging having a better weekend! and---even rode home in NO RAIN, (and went around Chicago) Steve
  14. Most family campers have been using a grill like (well, not exactly like that) that for years, but this new one is very cool. Pricy, but cool You can pick up an older model at garage sales all day long for not much. Steve
  15. I just got an I-pass and want to use it on my RSTD. If I stick it to the windshield, will it actually stay there or fall off? ---I also have a double pouch, yamaha tank bag. If I put it in the lower pouch, (with the velcro'd cover) it will face somewhat backward, will this work? that would be the safest and easiest for me. Any comments? Steve
  16. they are 15" tires, and you need a 16" for the front. Steve
  17. Randy, The drive in the speedo is stiff. I took the speedo off of my xs650 last eve, and tipped it upside down on the bench, and sprayed liquid wrench in the drive hole, let it sit for an hour and took my inner drive cable to turn the speedo and it was much more free. Blew it out with an air hose and repeated. That was last eve, now this morning it is very free. Now I suppose I should make an adapter like yours and grease it. (or leave it with the liquid wrench in there) and reassemble. As you know, there is no room for more than a few drops. Steve

  19. Yup, fantastic would be a good cleaner to use for sure. The one thing that you SHOULD NOT use is whitewall cleaner. Anything containing bleach, over time will ruin your whitewalls. They will dry the whitewalls out over time. Regular cleaner, like fantastic, 409, simple green, etc. will work. Steve
  20. Randy, Great idea. Did you clean the inside of the speedo before you greased it? The speedo on my xs650 is VERY stiff and I really need to get inside and clean it, but then your idea to grease it. Thanks, Steve
  21. I also have the road king slash cuts. If you can tighten a bolt, you can install road kings. I have the brackets available here. I drilled mine out. There are also threads on doing that. Steve
  22. Try WD-40 Steve
  23. Hey, Good luck Crash, hope they figure something out for you. Steve
  24. I clean my plastic shower surround with this stuff. I can't wait to try it on the red engine on my XL250R. That baby ought to look really sharp. Steve
  25. Redneck I've been following your pics and they are great, but what I don't remember is, are you traveling around in your motorhome? Keep those great pics coming, Steve
