  1. Hey Gary, How cool is that? You old cowboy you. Steve
  2. Don, You probably don't want to know anyways. Annie is a great name, and she sure looks at home in your front yard. Kinda like she has always been there. She will be a great addition to your family. Steve
  3. Mt Zion is just 5 miles south on 61 from 171 to Gays Mills. Alvin Straight drove his garden tractor from Laurens Ia to Mt Zion to see his brother and a movie was made of his trip. "The straight Story" The Mt Zion bar is where Alvin had his first beer in many years. We always stop and have a Miller Light in his honor. Have a great weekend, Steve
  4. Iowegian, So your headed up to my backyard this weekend huh? Those are the roads and places I ride on weekends when I'm home. A great neck of the woods to spend a weekend for sure. You might want to go to Mt Zion, and have a cold one in honor of Alvin. I'm off to PIP tomorrow, but next weekend if you aren't doing anything, a group of us will be at the Davis rally for the weekend. Come on down. On that fri, I'm going to the grotto and on to Laurens. (gotta see Alvins trailer) Steve
  5. What I would recommend is that two "whiners" (I guess "chirpers" would be nicer) get together and try swapping baskets, just to see what happens. It ain't that hard. Goose Now that is the best idea I've heard in a long time. Good job, Goose. I do notice mine making noises every now and then, but then again, being hard of hearing does have it's advantages. A good friend of mine who has been a Yamaha mech forever has always hated these motors because of all the noises that they make. Steve
  6. One more day for me. I'm taking off tomorrow morning and riding the back roads along the river part way up then west at Red Wing to avoid the twin cities, camp somewhere in south central Mn. and the rest of the way fri morning. See you all soon, Steve
  7. He might just find it interesting that you are posting the conversation on this forum. BTW--Great job in your comunications. Steve
  8. Sorry to hear that you do not have a good dealer, but the answer to your question is, yes, this is a warrenty issue. The bolt and nut fell off of my shifter last weekend, and I called the next day and a day later he mailed me a new bolt and washer, under warrenty. I have an 05 RSTD. Good luck, and stick to your guns, Steve
  9. Sounds very interesting to me Bill. I"ll look for your results. Thanks, Steve
  10. Hey tell me about it. It's supposed to be 39 deg tonight and it is August! Steve
  11. Did you guys go to the mile? Steve
  12. It's got to by one of my favorite times of the year to ride. And you all down south, when we are ice fishing, you will have to be riding. But today--riding Steve
  13. David, I don't think he said anything about being an antique dealer. JK But seriously, A few years ago I bought a new shield for my 86 VR from Yamaha for under $90. Steve
  14. I recently bought a new windshield for my 05 RSTD. And I thought I'd pass on the info on where I bought it. He sells on ebay or not. He said that he worked for a windshield manufacturer for years and now he started manufacturing his own windshields. many sizes, two widths, and the price is much less than the other manufacturers. For me, that mattered. But more importantly, the quality is awesome. I have had mine on now for a good 2,000 miles, and I have nothing negative to say about it. All of the holes bolted right up to my hardware and clipped right on the bike. I did clip it on the bike before I tightened up the bolts to get the correct line up. I had cut my stock shield down 6" and wanted a stock shield for cooler weather. I ended up buying one that is 2" shorter than stock, and am very happy with it. I have cleaned it, used plexus on it and it looks like new. In fact, one week after he had sent it, he called me to see how I liked it. At that point I had just taken a 1,000 mile ride. His site is: http://www.7jurock.com Steve
  15. Love those cars. And the spun aluminum full discs are my favorites. Thanks, Steve
  16. So, you are thinking of running a pair on each side? That would be cool. Looks great, and like everyone else, I'd be interested if the $ is right. And your saying that if we already have the burners, what you have would be adapted to them? Great Job! Steve
  17. Hey Jeff, The good news is that it is going to be televised on the vs channel (28 here) on Sept. 13th. Unfortunately, I'm going to be out on my bike, but will record it. Steve
  18. Any one going to the Indy Mile? This will be a historic year. Kenny Roberts is going to be taking his TZ750 for a few hot laps between races. This is the Yamaha two stroke that he won the 1975 Indy mile on the last lap. I was there to watch this one. The AMA banned the two strokes after 3 races--Too dangerous. Even Kenny agreed. I just found out about it or it would have been part of my summer plans. Steve
  19. Boomer.......who's looking for something other than Jim Beam to give HIM that extra "spark"......and mileage......and performance. Sailer Jerry Steve
  20. Well, I got my Timberwolf mudflaps on yesterday, and love how it turned out. You holding up your extra on the back of my RSTD out at Dons MD, really did the trick. Took my time, and used SS hardware. Not sure if I'm gonna put chrome trim pcs on yet---maybe I also added a pair of bullet turn signal lenses. Thanks, Steve
  21. I made it down to "Grasshopper Limited" to see Lonnie last thurs., and he made a backrest for my 05 RSTD. I've got about 500 miles on since and love it. Like Keith says, it can be bent to suit your needs. I have a studded mustang seat, so I told Lonnie that when I could, I'd put the stock seat on and send him a pic so he could see how the receiver would work on a stock seat. I did that this morning. You should be all set to contact him and have him make you one. Here is his contact info: 608-346-1337-----bfcm28@yahoo.com Steve
  22. Hey blummy, Very cool. looked at all of the pics and videos. I didn't know that they made a stove like that. I have a similar looking stove, but it's a wood stove. And I heat my house with it. I'm going to check out the forum. Thanks for the info. Steve
  23. That's nothing, how about this: My 2005 RSTD Does not have Any!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve
  24. Peggy, I'm very glad to hear that you have given it some thought and listened to all the folks here and are back. Like everyone has said, you did nothing wrong, it just ended up going south. And---like Don, was wondering how this trial did turn out. Thanks, Steve
  25. An update on the Nexen tire. I've got about 8,000 miles on the nexen and the HD, rear 402 running backwards on the front now. I've been running 40 psi in the nexen and 36 in the 402. The tires stick like glue on the twisties. Was out in the black hills for a week and ran all of those roads out there. never felt it slip once. And on the slab, what can I say, it just cruises along nicely. I really don't even think about it much anymore, just get on and go. Both tires look about like new. Last year, my WWW was bald at 5M. Steve
