  1. First of all, what a great picture to have of your dad. My guess is a harley sprint. Steve

    BSA

Yup, thanks Boo. Grew up on those old british twins. I used to be able to tell by the sound what each bike was that went by. Your lucky to have it. Steve

Boy, that's a beauty Boo. How long have you had it? My first bike was a 1965 Triumph Bonneville, and bought it new. I was in the navy, and the very next year had it stolen out in Boston. Still could tell you the serial number. And that was over 30 years ago. Do you ride it much? Thanks for posting the pics. Steve

  5. I got my decal and that thing is Gorgeous! Haven't figured out where I'm gonna put it yet though. Steve
  6. Brad, Didn't Don set up a harley forum? I kinda remember something like that. I haven't been there, but if he did, that might be a good place to look. Steve
  7. here ya go, check this thread out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=507&highlight=drilling+road+king+mufflers Steve
  8. Hey Dan, when my cousin lived half way between, he said that all of the locals called people like him HALFBACKS==people from the north who went south, hated it, and moved half way back north. Steve
  9. Check this link out http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=detail&model_ID=0&Category_ID=48&manufacturer_ID=223&product_ID=6421&sblid_name=detail I think that this is the route that I am going to go. Steve
  10. Hi Renate, It was very nice to meet you and Al at PIP. How great that you got to go back and see you folks. Real glad to hear that your dad is doing well. Enjoy your visit. Steve
  11. Just so you don't feel so bad, after converting C to F, it's the same here. But NO SNOW- too early for that. Steve
  12. I would be, I am concerened about anything that is not normal, or that catches my attention as to the bike running. I would check the wheel balance, and tire pressure first. Steve
  13. Same here. Steve
  14. There is one more thing that you could do to help you reach the ground. On the site here, there is a guy, Rick Butler from Texas, who will redo your seat that will narrow the front to allow you to reach the ground better. He might have an add in the classifieds. Steve
  15. First of all, welcome to a great place. Stick around Second, you cannot shove the forks up in the trees on a RSTD. The ventures can do that. We cannot due to the fact that the tubes are directly under the handlebars. Just take a look and you will see what I mean. I have an 05 RSTD that I put the barons lowering kit on, (the rear) just because I like my bikes low. Forget about all the theorists out there. It handles just fine. I have no issues with slow, fast or any other speed handling. The one thing that I can tell you is that you will drag the mufflers from time to time. Especially in very slow speed corners. To me, I could care less, but you might not like that. My advise is this: if you want to lower it for your own reasons---LOWER IT, and enjoy the ride. Steve
  16. Jim should be clear on this. I'm getting the backrest and rack. I'll send him another PM, but don't really think it's needed. Good luck finding one. BTW, what I'm looking to do, is have the rear turn signals also be running lights. Steve
  17. Man, the bike looks fantastic. I can only imagine it without the backseat and with a fender rack, but then again your wife might not agree. Does it feel lighter and less top heavy? In your video, it seems that your rear turn signals are now also running lights, yes? I want to do that but short of finding and buying front turn signals don't know how to go about it. Suggestions? When I saw your rolling light, the first thought that came to mind was COPS, don't know how that will go over. Steve
  18. Yeah I always wish it was over a weekend also. The mid-week gatherings are usually a deal breaker for me, but we will see. [quote= Steve
  19. Good information there Dave. Thanks--- On the other hand, those into bling--I see that they make the motorcycle filter in CHROME. Costs more as you would expect, but I'll keep using the regular purolator. Steve
  20. Not sure what you mean by tire swap, but I did take a few. Notice the can of WD-40, that is what I ended up using to get the bead to seat. (in the first photo you see suds, I started by using dawn and water) Steve
  21. Judging by what I see on the table, I'd say Owl is making up a batch of his chili. Yum Yum Steve
  22. So, are you saying that because of the bad rubber on the stem, it blew the stem out of the rim? Steve
  23. He really enjoys the "home" now and has settled in fine.:rotfl: that's funnier than the emergency flashers:banana: Steve
  24. Hey, do your best to get over to the ACE CAFE. Steve
  25. You should probably start by asking a member near you to help you sync your carbs. Then again, you only have 3M on the bike. It should get better with more miles. I have been getting 43-46 mpg when I stay below 65mph, but running 70-75+ all day, 35mpg. Speed does matter, It's that BIG windshield effect. Steve
