  8. I put grip puppies like I have on my RSTD on my vstrom that I had put heated grips on and feel great and the heating works as it should.

  10. I see that bike is not there, maybe you already bought it. Anyways, I've got an 05 and love that bike. Top heavy? not compared to a RSV. Love the dash, and get lots of comments on it. Buy it.
  11. When you lower the RSTD, you need to relocate the rear caliper also, and that should be with the kit.
  12. BFG CT= BF Goodrich car tire The key to putting bars on the RSTD is the bottom width to clear the speedo. I also put on the road king mufflers, drilled out.
  13. That pic might just be the tipping point to put the 12" mini apes on my 05 RSTD. I do have a lowering kit plus am running a BFG CT so it is LOW. No air in the front suspension also. I have done quite a few trips with it this way, I just air up the shock to 50 psi and all is good.

I have these saved on ebay for my RSTD. Wouldn't be a bad idea to double check.

    Skid, You can remove the cat fairly easily. I drilled out the baffles on my road king mufflers, and when I had that done, simply drilled the cat out. To do that, just get an aircraft drill. It's a long drill, say 1/4" and drill a series of holes around the outside of the cat, as close to each other as possible, and with a pipe/bar from the other end, just knock it out. It's not that bad, and also not that loud.

OK Jeff, here is the deal- You have several issues here: #1- That damn shed with the grassy knoll. #2- The stuff you haul in the trailer #3 the bike So, that shed placement and grassy knoll have been giving you grief forever! You need to move it or do something to eliminate the hill. And now the trailer, once you get rid of the 1st gen, you could eliminate lots of what you carry that you need to fix it. Now the bike- so you've seen my RSTD and trailer several times and you are welcome to come here and ride it if you like. You can also ride my K-9 650 vstrom, and my 2002 triumph bonneville. all different bikes but one might fit your bill. Of course they are not for sale, but you will know when you leave if you like one or the other. And my friend has lots more bikes than me an he is thinking of getting rid of a few. He does have a K bike (BMW) and it is a beauty. And I'm sure he would let you take it out for a ride. Lots of great roads around here, so make it a couple of days. One thing I'd like to mention about the trailer, I have put all, well most of the stuff that I haul in the trailer in the bags, sissy bar bag and the back seat of the RSTD and the same for the vstrom. I think that you really don't need the trailer. Just something to think about
  18. Great pictures and a beautiful bike, if I do say so myself. I've got pics from some of the same places, and I'm glad that you did the icefield parkway from top to bottom. Get to see the glaciers that way.

Took a trip out west earlier this summer on the Vstrom and having the DRD adjusted to where I wanted it, 50 and below spot on and 60+, the speedometer was 1 mph slow, and at 75+ the speedometer was 2 mph slow. I kept track with my GPS and of course speedo. Odometer showed .988% less on the speedo. I checked it at fill ups and at the end of my trip. 4,481 miles I wanted the speedo to be on at those 25-35-45 mph zones and read a bit low at highway speeds.
  20. I put a speedoDRD on my 650 vstrom this past spring, and it works great and easily adjusted to whatever setting you want, and I have a speedohealer on the RSTD and it also works great. I think I'd go with the DRD-so simple to set it exactly where you want it, in terms of setting the odometer and speedometer. Set it, go out for a ride and come back and adjust another tenth of a mile.
  21. fixed fairing dual sport transcontinental touring bike You know that Suzuki has been making one of these for years. It's called a V strom, and you can get it in 650 or 1000 cc's. Got a 650 myself that is now my cross country tourer, and it does it very well. It'll be interesting to see.
