I've been thinking of how to say this, and there is no easy way: Dale committed suicide His wife called to tell me and asked me to tell you all. A number of years ago he came down with autoimmune Encephalitis and was lucky to live through that but it took a major part of his brain. He mostly could remember things through pictures, but mostly he kept that to himself and if you didn't know, you'd never guess. He was never the same after. Loosing his memory of life in general played a major part in this. I was looking forward to seeing him at he crud run next week. Can't believe I won't see him again.

A number of folks here that ran a nexan had that same issue including me. So with a suggestion at the time to run 45psi, that is what I ran and it took care of that issue, so like Holy, somewhere between 45 and 50 is what I'd try.

I have a2001 ram 2500 and a number of years ago I was thinking the same thing. After talking with lots of people, I put a 2" leveling kit on which raises the front and it is now level. Not sure that will solve your problem with a 5th wheel. I assume you know about drop hitches?

Don's right about it being off about 5mph and the speeohealer will take care of that. I have an 05 RSTD and installed one years ago. As far as a jumpy needle, you realize that is a digital needle right? So probably check connections. Electrical is not my thing so, good luck. By the way there is another speedo correction device: Speedo DRD. Check it out. I have on another bike and they both do the same thing.

I put the Shinko's on the other day and the difference is amazing! I also added a bit/10# of air to the shock. It rides/corners like a MC again.

Are the upper fork covers required?

If I were putting another CT on, I'd put the Nexon on. BUT---I put Ct's on because I was using the RSTD for traveling, and now I use my Vstrom for that. So, I'm putting a set of Shinko 777 WWW on. Seems that the Nexon liked corners better as I remember.

vzuden, I put lowering links on years ago also run with no air in the shock. I did jump it up to 50psi when I traveled with this bike though. The BFG CT also made it a bit lower, so putting a MC tire back on will raise it a bit. I like it LOW!

I'm going to put a set on new tires on the RSTD and I'm thinking of going back to the original size for the front- 150/80-16. I've been using the 130/90 for years. What have you found to be the difference in the two sizes? I seem to remember the 150 turning slower, but not sure I care about that anymore. I'm also ditching the CT and putting a stock on the rear. I'll be going with Shinko WWW 777's

Very cool, wonder how many miles are on it.

My first car tire was a nexen CT. I ran it at 40psi because it wanted to wander at higher speeds, other than that I had no issues with it. The 40 psi was a suggestion from another VR member. Stuck amazingly good in the corners, worked well in the rain and held air. I ended up taking it off at just over 30K. I took it off to lube the rear splines and realized it didn't have enough tread to put it back on so I switched it out to a MC tire. Then put on a BFG CT. That one is still on. The BFG sits a bit lower.

+1 But of course you already know this!!!

Dangerous wobble at 55mph and above.
eagleeye replied to HunterMC's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I also have a 2005 RSTD and I run my forks and rear shock with no air with the exception of traveling. Loosing air in your forks and shock is a problem but shouldn't cause the wobble. Couple of things to think about: brand of tires, of coarse air pressure. But I think I'd check the swingarm bearings. I do know that the REAR tire pressure matters as far as wobble goes. -
I'm still running a BFG TA radial 155/80-15 on my 05 RSTD

I've had the same exact issue, and I'll try and post pics if I can, but I can tell you how I solved the problem: First off, it is a VERY special tapered split pin. I tried to get one from a dealer and even from Yamaha in Japan. No luck there. I took a dremel cut off wheel and cut the split pin in about the middle to remove it, (both split pins) then when it was apart, it just so happens that a standard (don't remember the size) split pin fits inside of that tapered pin, so with red loctite put the tapered pins back together with the standard split pin inside and then installed the lid. Hope that makes sense.
