Heyyyy,, its November 15th,, OPENING DAY OF MICHIGAN"S GUN DEER SEASON!!
eagleeye replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Here in Wisconsin our gun season opens Saturday, the 21st. I sighted in my guns at the range yesterday, and ended up winning a scope. I'm gonna go and pick it up this morning, then off for another November ride. This time of year, I'm really watching big time for them critters, and lately there are a bunch dead on the roadside, and they are not the little ones either. -
Looks like you made a good choice. Perch are the best! Lets see--riding or fishing--both good choices Warm here today too, so I went riding, (got that new V-strom to play with) and again tomorrow. WOW, middle of Nov. in Wisconsin and great weather.

You know Dan, The very first thing that came to mind when I first rode it was how the fairing didn't turn and reminded me of my 86VR. Caught me off guard at first.

Condor, GREAT post, and I printed that article for future reference. I have been wondering about the R-1 caliper and what it would do to the front braking on my RSTD. To be nice, it leaves a lot to be desired. And then there is switching the line to braided steel. I'm sure that plays into it also. If Yamaha has the correct ratio now and I switch calipers, the ratio would change. So again, if they got it right, and the master cylinders are a different size, then they should be switched also. What do you suppose the ratio is on my RSTD? I once rode a Triumph Rocket III and was most impressed with the front brake, and it is a heavy bike, so I know mine can be improved, only how?

I've never collected one of those free meals either, but I'm thinking about going to Denny's for breakfast tomorrow morning.

I've been riding this thing since I got home and absolutely love it. 400 lbs lighter than my RSTD and feels every bit of that. And cornering? WOW, feels lighter and more ready to corner than my Bonneville. Getting on it reminds me of getting on my 86 Venture, but a little less tall, which is a good thing. I got a pair of lowering links with it, and could always shove the tubes up into the tree too, if it feels too tall. But for now it's OK. I got a Widder heated vest with it, with the heated collar and does that ever feel good on a cool day. Now if I could find a pair of Widder gloves. There are some online, but from what I see, they went out of business in 08.

I used to sit on the pier in Sheboygan and watch the coal ships spin around out in front of the harbor and back into the harbor/river to unload coal back around 1980. That was pretty cool. I was pier fishing at the time. That lake can get real ugly real fast. And, I cleaned up the leaves in my yard for the last time this morning. Tomorrow, out for a ride. Mid 50's here.

The future of Motorcycles? I'm very depressed!!
eagleeye replied to VanRiver's topic in Watering Hole
There's nothing to be depressed about. There are always going to be new and innovative things out there. I think it's pretty cool. And I want those mirrors. -
Triangular gussets are a good idea, and I had thought of it, but I had plenty of long screws in the thing to hold it together, and I ALWAYS use two straps on each side of the front, for that very reason.

Glad that worked out for the better for you. There are quite a few dead deer around here right now and they are not small. Scary time to be out there, but I just bought a new bike and I will take it out, but I'll choose very carefully where and when. This morning I saw a really nice buck, dead on the shoulder, but had someplace to be. When I returned, I stopped and someone had broken the antlers off at the head.

Ah oh,, think I made a boo boo,, anyone heard from EagleEye?
eagleeye replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Hey, great video Scott. BTY, you can tell Tip that you did mention the road name to turn on, and of course I also had my GPS which agreed with the name of the road to trurn on, and the rest of the directions were spot on. -
Here is what I made for the vstrom I picked up: OSB with 2X8's 4" ID for the tire width and two straps per side an a strap on each rear. Puc is showing you this.

Hey, I turned right at the first light, and now I'm in Ohio. Now what the hell am I going to do? Thanks alot BUDDY -
Well, I went to Michigan to pick up the V-strom and am back home. Back and forth through Chcago. (7 1/2 hours each way) Actually went quite well. Took the I-90 to 290 to 355 (3rd expressway out) to 80 and up into Michigan on 94 and then on to 31. Stopped to visit our good buddy, Cowpuc on the way home. Always good to see him. The bike is a 2009 DL650 V-strom with 7,400 miles on it with a bunch of farkles as you can see from the pic. I think this bike will see the most seat time next summer. Rick Butler is going to do the seat this winter.

Find a machine shop near you and have them measure the ID with an inside mic, and then get back to barons with that number and see what they say. I have that kit on my 05 RSTD, which should be the same. Might as well take the axle along too. I suppose you could double check and see if there is a burr somewhere causing the problem. I just went out and looked at mine, and no way to do it wrong.

I'll look at the truck bed tomorrow, but in the past when I've had to put a bike in a truck, I've gone corner to corner, diagonal. But as I think about the bike, that won't work. It will have to be in the center.
-
If I put this in the center of my pickup bed, would I need to fasten it down? I would think that just having the wheel straight would be enough?

It sounds very fishy to me, however, you still have the trailer, and I'm sure won't let him take it without being paid in full. Good luck. It will be interesting to see if anyone has experienced this 20 day delay too.
-
You should consider looking on craigslist. There are a ton of used trailers out there.
