If you tried all of the above, check fuel filter, electric pump pressure, carb slides action and main carb jets. I had this to happen on two bikes, 75 KZ 900 small CLEAR stone in main jet ( looked like gas bubble) and 82 GS1100 GK Suzuki ( to much oil on K&N filter).

air horn compressor location ?
Cutty replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
"Add On" has a new air horn compact assy. Horns and compressor made as one unit and mounts with one bolt. Assy comes with a relay, so stock horn button can be used. -

You could see if any of the Venture family lived in the area and might have time to check it out for you. Plan B will CYA and increase family life.

I hope you will pull the fork tubes and check them for being straight since there's no history on them. That will also give you the chance to check the bushing and sleeves.

Broke down in Sault St. Marie - Help
Cutty replied to PEIslander's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just a suggestion, when there"s a charging problem pull the head lamp fuse and keep all accessories off. I have been able to get home more than once, could help to ease the panic.- 12 replies

Fork seal rebuild
Cutty replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 90 is different than the 86. I would replace any thing that shows wear. Hope you're installing new fork springs. Those seals appear to help control oil flow. -
I agree Ricks is a good place shop. What was your charging rate after installation of stator?? If to high, over 14.0 replace reg/rect. Make sure parts for oil control is in the crank.

Check very close to see if it's an actual crack or is it a cosmetic blem of extra rubber from production. If it's a crack please replace, we need you here.

Because you have fire there, check out the carb for clogged pilot jet and sync. The compression might improve by and oil and filter change with M.M.O. added to oil. A valve adjustment wouldn't hurt either if the above doesn't cure problem. So lets put 500 miles a day on it and see alot of changes.

Question regarding front axle spacer
Cutty replied to kbert777's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Buddy, by using the shims you now have forks tubes adding a wear factor on the seals and bushing in your lower fork legs. Your forks tubes are doing this now / \ . -
Find me some thing that keeps nails out of tires and i'll buy that.

Question regarding front axle spacer
Cutty replied to kbert777's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There was a shorter spacer with the rotor kit, sorry i don't have one and would not use with longer spacer. Yamaha either ran out of certain colors or did not make and suggested using the black decals. You might consider removing the caliper decal and leave it all chrome or paint it black. I have the same set you have and added the ring of fire to the rotor covers. -
Your stock unit is what Barnett is selling, EBC is a good choice.

If you're going to work on it Monday, today pull the clutch in half dozen times and keep the clutch handle tied to the handle bar ( rag, tape, wrap tie ) on your last pull. Put bike on center stand in an open area, in neutral start engine let motor run until fans come on for 2 to 3 mins. Leave clutch handle in that position over night and see the results in the morning.

Kuryakin grips coming up short!
Cutty replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Always install the left bar grip first with out any thing on the bar, should be tight fit. Look into opening of both grips side by side and there is a small diffrence in the diameter for the right side as it has to go over the throttle sleeve. Liberal amount of soap and water mixture will ease installation both sides and will evaporate leaving a clean install.
