If I could just have heavy weapons mounted on the front and rear of my vehicle and the authority to use them at will to do away with idiot drivers, that'd be fine. Everyone cold go whatever speed they liked then

Yeah - I have a nice 2nd gen, a nice 1st gen, 2 parts bikes, a camper trailer AND a sidecar and I got ALL of them combined for less than the price of a decent HD tourer! That argument is the only way I get the finance committee (a.k.a. Mrs.) to put up with it. Still woulda gotten the V4 even if the HD was = priced though.

Nope, but if you don't get them send me an e-mail. I think I may still have a set from one of my parts bikes. I'd have to check, but I won't bother sifting through the pile of stuff unless I hear from you. -Greg

Yeah, I don't use mine much when solo. The chatter, joking, sight-seeing, games etc. that go on during a long group ride with others on CB is a totally different experience than doing the same without. One of my favorite (or favourite for some of you who have trouble spelling ) parts of rides with groups of Venture Riders!

I agree too, although somehow I think YammerDan may disagree! -
Yeah, I remember that, thanks. I actually got a similar one from Radio Shack. The problem is replacing the batteries all the time. Someone was talking about trying to wire it in on the original thread. Wonder if they ever figured out what needed to be done?? Mine takes 3 AAAs so it's certainly not a straight 12V hookup.

Love you guys, really... but I'll leave the Tubs & Rubs to you, I'll have a cold one and run under a sprinkler or something rather than sit in a hot tub full of fish and what not!

Had the same problem with low output through the AUX with my MP3. Had the volume cranked all the way up. Same unit works well through a cassette adapter so I've been using that, but I plan to split the fairing this spring and add the Y splitter. I'm hoping that there's a loose connection or something that I'll find, else that getting closer up-stream to the source will help.

Dang, I missed it. Put me on the list for next round if you do it again!

Don used to mod old 1st gen stands to fit the 2nd gen. A few folks have swapped them on the site too so someone might have one they're willing to part with. I have one that I don't keep on because my mount is bent and it doesn't have enough ground clearance when I corner. It goes on with 2 bolts when I need it though so I keep it around. I also have a 1st gen stand from my parts bike. If you want to try whatever the Mods are that Don does (assuming he doesn't already have one available for you) I'd be glad to give you a Venture Riders deal on it.

Given a choice I'd prefer a closed trailer. Protection from weather and debris while traveling being the main motivations. Also doubles as a nice storage space when not towing. They tend to be 3-5 times more expensive though. They're also are more conspicuous when parked at home. For those reasons I still have an open trailer.

May not be running, but it sure looks like it's shaping up to be a SCHWEEEET ride!

I'm in - need to get it into my Garmin Nuvi thought. Should be able to get there from here based on the "converter" comments earlier. Greg "WilCruise" Wilson N42deg10.294' W070deg52.271'

If you get one with the tab at the bottom (84) and need one with the pin (83) let me know. I could swap ya.
-
Right, forgot about that. My 84 has the tabs and the 83 parts bikes don't, thanks. I think the other pins are in the same location though. Haven't tried to see if they fit. I'd imagine they should, just might be a little loose in the middle (a bit like me;-)

We have a similar problem where the gas stops 2 damned houses up the street from us. We have oil which is sill the standard up here, but getting expensive. We insulated and re-windowed over the last few years and that helped a lot. What we did this year was to get a fireplace insert that runs on propane. We're loving it! It not only plugged the heat escape of the fireplace, but now we can supplement with more or less as heat / price requires. Granted it's not the perfect solution, but it's been a great compromise and the fireplace ambiance is a nice side benefit. We still run the fan on the furnace to circulate the heat throughout the house. It's been a great compromise for us.

All I can say is I don't envy the work you guys do, but I sure as hell appreciate it!

Remember this when you're nursing your guilt... You're making a market for the repair service's work. Sounds like you made it an easy job for him. No worries!
-
Damn, that's tough. Good for you to try what you could to help. Thoughts & prayers are with you & your friend.

Yeah, the only difference on 83-84 and most 85s models was a few gadgets on the Royals vs. Standards. There was an 85 1/2 that fixed a 2nd gear problem and changed the trunk. Other than that it was the same too. In 86 through 93 there were some more changes but a lot of stuff still interchanges with them as well. Good luck!
