I always wear my helmet. I believe that the choice should be up to the rider, not the government. I do think training through the equivalent of MSF advanced rider level, at least, should be a mandatory prerequisite to being licensed, however.

I made it back safely too. Thanks Don and everyone for such a great time! I have a few pics but need to get unpacked first (where's that damned camera?). It was great to put faces with so many names. Rough calculations tell me that the lucky raffle winnings were almost exactly enough to cover fuel for the round trip (or fuel + tolls on the ride home) - welcome relief! Thanks to all who contributed and added to the contribution bucket for the site! Look forward to seeing many of you again (and many I didn't see) in Kitchener in a few weeks when I'll have Mrs. WilCruise in tow!

Third Gen Alert... Third Gen Alert! I really hope they do make a new Venture out of this. Then in ten years when I 'm ready to get a new bike I can get a deal on a used one

Well I just missed this one! I rode from Mass through NH and across VT on my way to Americade and passed a couple. Better hurry Joe or I might just get one tomorrow or on my way to Don's on Friday before you get one Saturday!
-
Leaving today for Americade, then swinging down Friday. See ya there!

I have a guardian bell to swap. May be something a few others want to do as well. I'll check to see what parts / tools I can bring, but I have to pack light (going to Americade on the way out) so it may not be much. Most of what I plan to do for the day is minor and not urgent so if anyone needs a hand I can probably pitch in.

Uhhhhh. ALL types? I may need to rethink this...

Or the one who spends the most on gas to get there (we're taking the motorhome - Yikes!).

2008 VentureRider Rally in Ontario needs your attention.

Hey Reiny, I've been buried in work and haven't been on the site much. I'm all registered and did a couple of Ts and trailer tickets too. The Mrs & I are really looking forward to this. I'm surprised there aren't more signed up as well. I wonder if the border crossing did hold some people back. i know there were some threads that sounded intimidating, but if you have a passport it's really a breeze other than waiting in line for a while. Can you give some updated counts? If a couple more Ts or tickets might get us over a hump I could probably swing 1 or 2 more. As far as breakfast anything that allows us to get together is fine with us. We may be able to do a couple of large grill cook-out type things too. We'll make it work with however many we end up with. We had less than a dozen at the last Northeast gathering and it was a BLAST! -
Don't know about ones on ebay, but if they're the same as the ones you can get from J&P they're really great. I've used them on my first gen which it a PITA to bleed up front and they made it much easier.

You're both forgiven on one condition... You stick around here!

I've been so tied up with work so far this year I haven't been able to do ANYTHING! I bought a really nice '84 about a year ago and haven't really been able to touch it since. It's been in storage. I gotta be realistic and purge some stuff. I just listed it in the classifieds. I'll add more info when I get a chance to get out to it. Thought I'd give it a show with the "gang" before I put it on the 'bay. I've also listed some parts from the parts bike on the 'bay. It's such a pain, and so time consuming I didn't want to list them here and then there. If anyone from here is looking for any of the stuff listed I'll refund 15% if you email me your VR user ID when you win on anything I listed. You can see the stuff I listed here: http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthewilsonworks Now don't go bustin' my chops. I'm keeping the 2nd gen and we'll be at the international meet. I plan to get another 1st gen project eventually, I just can't get to it in the foreseeable future so it don't make sense to pay to keep it stored.

Lookin' forward to it, but I don't see no stinkin' grass growing!

I've done it a bit with a trailer I got last year (same as Randya's). It works out really well for me. Most campgrounds have reasonably clean facilities and the sleeping quarters are as comfortable as you make them. The only glitches are rain and overly cold or hot weather. I have a little fan / heater I take along and I try to get sites with electricity. I enjoy it, but we have a small RV and we really like the whole camping experience in general anyway.

BUMMER! Glad you came through it with just the roadrash though.

SCHWEEEET! Nice choice.

Yeah, big fat rear too... The bike I mean

Hold on there Bud, Those three good weeks you get up there are coming... On either side of - and hopefully during - the international Venture Rider meet you should be OK!

I recently found two mags that I like. RoadBike magazine - dedicated to metric bikes - mainly cruisers but some rockets and Motorcycle Classics - classic bikes and restorations including quite a few metric bikes despite what you may expect. I've had the same disappointment with what can be found at typical newsstands, but I now subscribe to and recommend both of these mags.

I like it. Id' get one if the budget would allow 10-12 others before it. In other words... I'll probably never have one. It'd be nicer if it had a V4.
