I didn't like cheesecake until last year - Lonna made a man outta me! Now I'm hoping I'll be able to get there this year for a second helping!

I carry a crackberry but sill need the laptop for work. There's also a Dell that recently came out that's like the eee pc and about the same price. I may invest in one of those for my travels for convenience.

Just saw it in Roadbike magazine. Looks pretty slick. I just wish the metric manufacturers would get of the stupid V-twin kick! I DON"T WANT A ME-TOO V-TWIN! Four is the right number of cylinders for a bike. Period. If I wanted two I'd stay with domestics or turn to the Germans.

I didn't re-order so I assume they're just shipping them to folks that got them last year.

Careful what you wish for - where there's swimming, there may be pond monsters! Mine just arrived, looks like we're safe - just sweet paint & chrome.

I've always said that I'm a blue collar guy stuck in a white collar profession. Similar to Don, I got interested in technology and learned to create and apply it to my work in warehousing and managing inventory. Now I spend way too much time behind a desk or traveling to spend time in front of someone else's desk trying to convince them that our stuff can help them.

PICS of any 1st gen without trunk??
WilCruise replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah, would've liked to keep both, but when it came down to only keeping one the "pillion" prefers the back of the 2nd gen hands down. I like to think I'm in control, but she won that discussion easily. As far as Mass - the damned snow is coming! CRAP! -
Looks sweet Lou. We DO expect you to stick around, but I'm sure plenty of us will bust your chops once in a while Enjoy the new bike.

Here's my old '84 as a nudie, should be what you're looking for. -
Sorry to hear of your loss Peggy. We've been through it a couple of times and it's tough. These guys do become part of the family. Sending some positive karma from here.

Looking forward to getting the date to reserve time off Don. Looks like there's a good chance we won't make the international this time around due to some other commitments. I want to do everything I can to get (hopefully both or ALL of us) to Maint day this year. Thanks!

Now THAT's the truth... uh, not that I'd know or anything. I post, really! I just haven't done much for a couple of months due to having my hands full with work. Couldn't pass this thread up though!

Back in the day I'd do low teens occasionally - went through two winters with only two wheeled transportation while living in Kentucky. I remember picking up a used Suzuki 750 Waterbuffalo and riding it home as a snowstorm hit back in the early 80s. I didn't have gloves either. Oh to be young and stupid again! These days it's not likely I'll be out if it's below freezing. Even then I'm all "geared up"!
-
Usually down mid/late Nov through mid/late Mar around here. This year has been a bear though so I think I'm already down until next year. Not only very little time to ride, but not much time here either. Damned new job - gotta work your a$$ off just to get up to speed. Besides that, gotta work through that FNG stigma! (F@$%ing New Guy). I'll probably be out early next season as a result!

We've been out of the loop for a while and I just now saw this. So sorry to hear about this Gary. Thoughts and prayers from here too.

Same here. I had a Takamine 12 string about 20 years ago that I still regret selling. They do mass produce and sell things from low end to upper mid range. Usually pretty good build quality, but you'd have to know the specific model, and even try it to be sure.

I saw these guys featured on one of the biker shows too. Looked like they did some really nice work! Probably a good choice for someone looking for that type of wrk.

Nice Pics Carl & Marca - Love the narration too! Looks like a memorable trip for sure.

Wow, glad you came through reasonably OK - those guardrails usually aren't very forgiving. I remember seeing the bike at maint day (always loved look of the white ones). The plastic is all replaceable but can be kinda pricey. In my experience, the trick is to hold the insurance company's feet to the fire on covering as much as possible. Good luck & best wishes for a quick and full recovery!

Glad to hear you made it back safely. Remember if you want to take a spin NorthEast of home let me know and we'd be happy to try to meet up with you.

Any word if 2009 Venturer will be EFI?

Couldn't agree more on both points! -

Agree - At the rally when the Yama gang was there I kept badgering on e of them and he implied that any change in the Venture would likely not show up until sometime around Fall of 2010. -
Damn! We'd really like to join that one but we've burned most of our summer vacation allotment already with Americade / maint day and the Kitchener rally. Sounds like fun - have a great time!
-
Aw c'mon Carl, pretty soon you'll be sayin' we gotta be nice to everyone! We can't all be angels like you.... Hey Jerry, Had the same thing happen with a new RSV owner at Americade last month. I hope the riff-raf didn't run him off! I gotta get a stash of those cards printed up one of these days to keep on the bike!

Not a bad idea, just watch out for the cavity searches at the border! Make sure to take lots of pictures so they are concerned about their behavior being documented and just wave you through.:rotf:
