  1. I know, it's at a rest stop in Plymouth, MA and I couldn't park at an angle that would miss it and still get the bike in the shot.
  2. I'll let neon work, it needs to be REALLY big then though.
  3. Assuming he approves... Hmmm... How 'bout a picture of you & your bike in front of a larger-than-life musical instrument. Something you might find in front of a music landmark, nightclub, recording studio, music store or something. Has to be at least 3 or 4+X normal scale to qualify.
  4. Great News!
  5. Welcome Dan! A lot of us around here have had similar experiences. Buying long distance can be hazardous! I've pretty much given it up myself. On the plus side, that has the bones of a great bike if it's not too bad off.
  6. A prayer coming in from over here too Bud!
  7. Yep, I forget that every spring
  8. SCHWEEET!
  9. OK... ok... so it may not be a traditional totem pole but I think it should be considered. I got there today after about 20 mins in the overcast low 40s and found someone to take the picture... The battery died on my camera right there. Best I could do was my phone camera and she couldn't get the whole thing in. In the overcast you can't even see it well. I've included a picture of the plaque (last photo my camera took before dying) and a better likeness from the internet for your approval. Let me know if it qualifies and I'll come up with the next one. If not... so be it - Nice excuse to take a ride
  10. Hey Dan - That from you way down South eh? Hoping we'll BOTH make it to see you guys and everyone else at MD. I'm going up to Americade in Lake George, NY first - then down to Dons like I've done the last couple of years. Hoping Mary will be able to join me in Cleveland for MD and ride home with me. She has a few commitments she's trying to work her way out of. If I can get away from work long enough I'm getting this totem pole though! Any excuse to get out this early in Spring!
  11. Someone better nail this one soon. If I can get out tomorrow it's mine - I know where there's a HUGE one not too far away from me!
  12. Looks like you have an '03 (best year, shoulda got the red though;-) If you're talking about the intercom connector for the helmet headset on a 2nd gen, it's usually on the bib around the gas tank. Many people move it and zip-tie it to the handlebars. Some others may move it under the tank. There's a passenger connection between the left saddle bag and the seat too. I'd be surprised if it wasn't just relocated somewhere like that.
  13. Bummer Dan, Better weather coming so hopefully you'll be able to get it all to be right soon.
  14. We use the same (102), and are very happy with them. I didn't have much luck with the Nolan brand electronics (N-com) though. If you go this route and you use the intercom, I recommend you go with aftermarket headsets that are made to fit. I think Goose has a good set on his, don't remember what brand / model though.
  15. Will probably be referred to as a "motorcycle accident"...
  16. Hell, back in the day (when safety wasn't as prevalent a concern) I worked at a shop where we used JB Weld to rebuild a variety of parts (on our own project bikes) pretty regularly. I remember a clutch cover that was basically shattered that we reconstructed with the stuff and it held for a good few years - longer than the rest of the bike lasted. Not sure it's strong enough to take the torque needed on the valve cover though.
  17. Haven't been there in about 20 years so any suggestions would be pretty stale. Always loved the city though - unless it's changed you should be able to find some good entertainment. We have a few members in the area, hopefully they'll chime in with some current ideas.
  18. Not planning to do any work on my scoot but happy to help on others and provide tools / parts where I can. I have some 1st gen stuff left over from the old projects, may bring some of that if I can find space to pack it. Will follow the thread to see what's needed / requested. Squidley - I seem to remember you giving your drill a workout and needing a battery re-charge from drilling out exhausts. Can we provide a second battery or something?
  19. Don't lsiten to these guys... they don't know what they're talking about..... How far are you from MA?? Seriously, check connections first like Randya suggested, I've seen that be a problem on two first gens. Then you can pull the unit without seat removal if I remember correctly. A clean up and adjustment will probably deal with it then. Good luck
  20. Wonder if they'd be more popular if applied to something other than 3/4 helmet...
  21. Does the big puddle of water from partially melted snow in my front yard count as a body of water???
  22. Last year on the way to Don's maint day I packed up the MC trailer and left VT (stopped at Americade first) at about 3AM in the midst of a downpour @ about 40 degrees (F) and not 3 hours later there was literally steam coming off of me because of the heat when I was leaving NY state. The elements can be a challenge, but there's something invigorating about being out in them and experiencing the evolution of the change on the bike. Funny thing though, the older I get the more I like to reflect on those times rather than experience them again.
  23. Yup, 90% sure it's a refresh thing. I go to the top of the page and hit the "UserCP" link. If my post is dark there's been a reply. If not, then I move on to new posts or a forum or something.
  24. Here's Mary in front of the house the other night. They were saying we beat the annual average snowfall before the end of December (maybe early January) this year if I remember correctly. Yes it's well over her head. Yes that's a window it tops up at. Can't use the front door. Snow blower can't throw it high enough anymore. We've gotten hammered south of Boston this year. Tired of snow?... WHAT DO YOU THINK?!?!? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3485/3259342488_9f0abd92ac.jpg?v=0
  25. Just forwarded a few from the archives. Hope they can prove useful. Good luck with the gig - sounds like a cool opportunity! Let us know when we can see what you came up with.
