THANK GOODNESS I'm not alone as it pertains to the title of this thread... Either way... TAKE PICTURES and we'll help out where we can....

Drill a hole or two in it and lower it. Mine wasn't fitting in the small of my back. I agree with the other posters that you can also bend it back in a vice. Wrap tape or a towel around it first so you won't scratch it, then, strike with a rubber mallet. Do this in small increments, Don't over bend. Hope this helps:fingers-crossed-emo

My Dad always said "Experience is the best teacher":confused24: Some want to take on more risk. As it's still (I think) a free society, I say let them. It'll all work out in the end.

Might be a slipping clutch. Thats why my next trinket for the bike is going to be a TACH! Need one to be sure. Oh... I also like to know whe I'm in the power band.

Call his boss and ask what their policy is. Sounds like hes misinterpreted a rule. Either way you'll be informing his boss of what has transpired to date, and, getting a heads up if his boss tells you the same thing. Don't let it turn into a p...ing battle, as you'll most likely loose. My experience is most cops are Good guys...

If its primarily going to be used to get to work and gain experience on a bike, "since its his first bike", the Yamaha 650 is the probably the best way to go as it's only 450 lbs? On the down side, it will only haul about 350 lbs? comfortably. I'd personally recommend not giving any rides until he had at least 3 months minimum under his belt and then to ride the bike for a year. Riding a 'used' bike is the best way to lean. Then trade up to a 950 or 1100 and ride that for a year. After a couple years he'll be ready for a tour bike. Do Not Rush it. I bought my 2007 Venture 3 months ago from a guy that had it for 3 years and only put 482 miles on it. He hadn't ridden a bike for 30? years and went out one day and bought this 950 lb Tourer.... Found out he couldnt ride it, as it, scared him to death ... so it sat in a motorcycle trailer for three years. Think of it this way, It's akin to getting your car learners permit and wanting to drive a tractor trailor.... Remember, Experience is the best teacher... Good Luck!

that'll treat her right for leaving you unattended in WallMart... Actually, this:starz:is what you can expect when she notices this thread...

Glad your ok. Those deer are very unpredictable... What time was it? Evenings right before sunset is a bad time to ride around here....

You the man Dan! If more people acted the way you did today, the world would be a better place. So now I take it youll be riding this weekend, since you worked so hard today?

Water runs downhill... (unless land is totally flat) Some rivers flow to the north, some to the south, all however run downHill... The pertinent fact here is someone stated oil was flowing "UP" the Mississippi... I would have offered that person another glass of Coolaid... http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/infopage/riversno.htm Rivers That Flow North (actually downhill) in a northerly direction http://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gif THE FACTS: Unless the land it totally flat, rivers of water run downhill. The vast percentage of rivers on the planet flow in a southerly direction because the source (usually in the mountains) is to the north of the mouth. http://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gifhttp://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gif If the source of a river is at a higher elevation than the mouth, that river will run from the source to the mouth. However, if that (higher) source is to the south of the mouth, that river will then flow to the north (downhill). http://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gifhttp://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gif Below is a partial list of rivers (length listed when known) that do just that. We haven't listed rivers that run to the northwest, or rivers that don't meet the exact requirements. http://www.worldatlas.com/text/dotclear.gif Athabasca Alberta, Canada, 765 miles Bann Northern Ireland Bighorn Wyoming and Montana, USA, 336 miles Cauca Colombia, 597 miles Deschutes Oregon, USA, 250 miles Eel Northern California, USA, 78 miles Erne Ireland and Northern Ireland, 60 miles Essequibo Guyana, 600 miles Genesee New York, USA, 144 miles Jordan Utah, USA, 45 miles Lena Russian Federation, 2735 miles Little Bighorn, Wyoming and Montana, USA, 80 miles Magdalena Colombia, 1062 miles Mojave Southern California, USA, 100 miles Monongahela Eastern USA, 128 miles New Virginia and West Virginia, USA, 255 miles Niagara Lake Erie to Lake Ontario, 39 miles. My dad always said "experience is the best teacher". After a few "experiences" of my own, I decided it would be a lot easier on my body and pocket book by listening to the advice of others as well as educating myself. As many of you already know, three weeks ago, I slid 43 feet on my face, unconscious... after being struck by a deer. The only thing that saved me was my joe rocket mesh jacket and my HJC full face... I for one will ALWAYS wear helmet. er... just not this leather one...

Yup it was a midnight venture, my bikes twin sister.... Seen it yesterday morning as we were heading out... Hummmmmmmm.... So you didn't want to put the gloves and long sleeves on huh?...
-
Midnight Venture sighted outside Truman Annex guard shack, Key West Fl. Anyone from here?
-
Thanks freebird. Looking at the Icon Airframe and the Nolan 43 trilogy MAINLY for the ventilation although I'm told no modular helmet is snell approved... My insurance adjustor recommended the snell apporval.
-
Looking for advice on buying a new helmet. Must be : Full face Snell rated Best ventilated Under $400

motor hesitates after tire change
CaptainJoe replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
most likely water in your gas. ^You can either drain tank or add a bottle of dry gas available from any auto parts store. -
If your sitting on the seat with one hand on the clutch and the other on the throttle... you can't see your wheels now.... can you? Problem solved:stickpoke:

I thought the same thing ... Why are they always black???? Bohn looks like they have a good product, if these don't meet my expectations I'll give em a try. I liked the diamond gusset jeans but since my mishap with that deer, I want the added protection armor provides. The Icons I bought aren't see through, so I intend on wearing them just like any other apair of pants. Will be headed to florida soon and its gonna be in the 80-90's in Key West. Will let everyone know how "cool" these are.
-
Just ordered 2 pair of Icon mesh ARC pants for warm weather riding and protection. Anyone tried these? Was told they are very cool in the summer. They have armor in the knees and reinforced panels. http://www.ridersdiscount.com/street-gear/pants-men/54689.php

My hats off to all of you for what you do. I'd have to agree with the previous poster when he stated he never got a ticket he didn't deserve. Of course, I, was brought up to 'man up' to whatever you do in this world.. be it good or bad... That way one can learn from your mistakes and make the necessary adjustments. Now wait a second, I could have been blamin The or Mom and Dad or the next door neighbor, or my brothers wifes 3rd cousin removed... Just kiddin! Keep up the good work guys, believe it or not , most of us really appreciate what you do, but like most things in life the majority is silent!

Bike Crash, we both lost... the deer and I
CaptainJoe replied to CaptainJoe's topic in Lessons Learned
After a lot of reading I have decided to go with the electronic version of the Hornet deer whistle. www.deer-whistle.com/technical.html Was told the cheap air operated whistles won't work on a motorcycle as they can't get enough air/are not loud enough? Anyway, they are a kurayakan item so they are on sale for 10% off this month at Country Chrome, so I'm picking Two tomorrow. Also got a pair of Joe Rocket 734 gloves for the wife and I. We're starting to look like Mr and Mrs ROAD WARRIOR! MAKE A PATH DEER! HERE WE COME! Thanks for all your help! -
What's best for windshields in rain?
CaptainJoe replied to scottc's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
LIQUID GLASS! It's the best, but pricey... $22.00 for 12 OZ? Also: They make rain-x for plastic windshields, not the same as the 'glass rain-x'. I don't use it because every pit stop I make i wash the bugs off of windshield and that makes the windshield streaky. Liquid glass will take quite a few washings before it wears off. The water will bead up like crazy and roll off windshield. Plus I use it to wax bike as its easy on/off.- 15 replies

You were very lucky the deer didn't try to cross road in front of you. They are very unpredictable. Thats what happened to me, I locked both brakes for 12 feet then released so I could maneuver, but the scared deer T-boned me. The one thing I learned from this is you can never have too much protection. Most motorcycle jackets do not have built in chest protectors. They assume you will fall off to one side or the other, or, onto your back. I ordered a pair of alpinestar chest protectors for both my wife and i and will velcro them into our Motorcycle jackets. For $39.00 we will feel safer. Today I Spoke to my motorcycle mechanic that just happens to teach motorcycle saftey classes and he reminded me of something I heard a long time ago. If you ride a motorcycle long enough, sooner or later you WILL be involved in an accident. You can however, tilt the odds in your favor by wearing the protective clothing and full face helmets. Oh and buyin brown shorts couldn't hurt:Laugh: Glad your ok!
