Yup that was my bike V7GOOSE. vacum level tested low and was jumping aound alot. Never did get the rev to drop immediately. Mine was the 07 midnight to the right of driveway before awning. travelinman and a few others helped including yourself. does not drip when key off only when on and then its drip drip drip off of the float bowl bolts making entire center of engine below carbs wet. The brass piece/caps I was referring to is circular on the backside of carb and I believe they are over the mixing screws? Will do, as per your instructions and am gonna go check my oil RIGHT NOW! THANK You VERY MUCH. That would have ruined my engine and day...

It's not just the bike techs but also the auto techs. The dealerships will cut corners where ever they can. Thats why I switched to toyota last year after being a loyal chevy/pontiac buyer all my life. The workmanship of these bikes is excellent. I believe it is this subpar fuel they are making us use... Make the next MD and they can probably get you straightened out. Better to learn something and be able to do it for the rest of your life.

My 07 RSMV develped leak(s) about mid point on inner portion of carbs. slow drips off of the screws that hold the "bottom plate with brass piece" on. Pretty sure its a sticking float although I didn't notice any comming out overflow tubes? Just about have carbs out. Will also check the petcock hoses and fuel pump return hoses while I'm at it. At Freebirds MD while attempting a carb tune the bike wouldn't immediately come down off of the revs. We checked air passages and all were clear. we drained carbs and filled with carb cleaner. then 1/2 can of sea foam for 2 tanks. Ran good ever since. This bike basically sat for 3 years, it's an 07 with only 482 origional miles and the owner told me he had to tap the carbs one time because they stuck. Since then Ive put 5000 miles on it... Referenced: Freebirds Removing carbs 3/21/07 V7goose Float levels 6/27/08 ? Syncing carbs 8/18/06 Only thing I need is a sync tool after I get er done? Anyone close that has one? I know, I know. I could have taken to shop and got fixed free. But would it have really ended up being fixed???????? I think not......Plus it really isn't costing me any :mo money:just my time and I like working on her.

I was at the church today and WBC didn't show up, it was a beautiful site to see all those people in support of our fallen hero. God Bless America! AP Update: PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A threatened protest by a roving church group and its anti-gay members did not occur Saturday at the funeral of a 25-year-old Parkersburg man who was killed in Afghanistan, the sheriff said. Officers with the Wood County Sheriff's Department, West Virginia State Police and other law enforcement officials attended the funeral for Army Pfc. David Alan Hess in anticipation of the protest, to control traffic and to "show respect" for Hess, Sheriff Jeff Sandy said. "Two-thousand people were there and everyone was so patriotic," he said. While some reported seeing members of the Westboro Baptist Church at other locations in Parkersburg, there was "no evidence" of church members at the funeral, Sandy said. Westboro church members say their protests are intended to express their view that U.S. deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq are God's punishment for American immorality and tolerance of homosexuality and abortion. Friends and supporters of the Hess family had planned a peaceful counter-protest if the Westboro protesters had shown up, the Charleston Gazette reported.

I'll be there... Gonna dress warm as its 33 deg out! PEACE DEMONSTRATION AGAINST WBC for the memorial service of David Hess =136294383086288"]Share · Public Event Time Saturday, October 23 · 10:00am - 2:00pm Location1655 Blizzard Drive Parkersburg, WVCreated ByRachel Francesca Terzo, David McIntyre More InfoThe WBC will be here to protest the funeral of fallen soldier David Hess this coming Saturday. We defeated them with peace in numbers in Charleston, so we can do it this weekend in Parkersburg! I cannot stress enough that this is a peaceful event. We do not want to create added stress to his family and friends, but rather let them know we're here to support and honor him, as well as all of the other soldiers past and present that have fought for us. We want to create a wall to completely outnumber the degenerates of the WBC. Please attend, even if just for a minimal amount of time. NO SIGNS. Just bring a flag or something else you consider to be a symbolism of peace. Invite everyone that you can to join. Bring American Flags, No political signs, only respectful signs. Do NOT approach these people! There will be over 1000 people there to stop the Westboro Baptist hate group from dishonoring our hero. These idiots will try to get you to hit them, and then sue you.. Many are meeting at WVUP parking lot at 9:00AM. We are being asked to wear Camo Clothing, or Patriotic clothing, yellow ribbons etc. Be at South Parkersburg Baptist Church by at least 10:00 AM. Parking will be scarce, so carpool if possible. The Church is on Blizzard Drive across from United Bank. Please remain peaceful and respectable for the family of our fallen hero. As a landlord, I don't put up with them, if one moves in with someone thats already living here, they know they are going to get a thirty day notice to move. I check everyones background and sex offender registry. Everyone that moves here is well aware of the rules. I've probably got 20 or so children in the park and I can guarentee, they are going to be as safe as I can make it around here. I have two grown up daughters and don't even want to think about what I'd do to someone that harmed them in any way. Sounds like your landlord likes her rent money:mo money: more than the fact shes got a sex offender close to kids. Even worse is the fact these peoples recidivism rate is way up there. Chances are they will do it again. Myself, I'd seriously consider moving to a place that cares more about the kids.

Lift for 2008 Venture
CaptainJoe replied to florycr3170's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Is the carbon one adapter stand tall enough to allow you to change your rear tire? -
The problem have with trailers in general is: 1. Your not riding your bike 2. A single person could easily eat out for $40 and stay at a motel for $60 or around $100 a day, with wife would be $80 to eat and $60 for motel($140). So lets say camper costs $7000 7000/100=70 days 7000/140=50 days So, for a 2 week trip, 14 days, single, it would be $1400 (if your splitting motel costs with another rider it would be $420 less). I guess it all depends on how much travelin you do and how long you intend on staying there. They would be perfect for extended stays. If one is retired and they wanted to go across the country in the winter they could stop at places for a week or so. A toy hauler would be better as you get stove, fridge, tv, AC etc... Keep in mind a lot of the campgrounds are $35-40 per night.

If it's not shifting soon enough it could also be the Autromatic Transmission govoner? If you have one, it would be on the drivers side and round with a clip over it. Take clip off, pull govoner out spray with carb cleaner. Check nylon wheel. If its worn order a new one. $15 or so, better yet go to a transimission shop and get one from them, unless you can wait. That way you can get a filter there also. Besides that do what was suggested above. Myself, I'd take all bolts out of bottom pan but the two on each end. loosen these about 1/2 inch and take the two on one end completly out. Put a pan underneath and gently pry the end without bolts down. After fluids out remove pan and change filter. Most just push on. Clean pan and gasket re install and fill with fluid. I do this to all my automatic transmissions at 100,000 miles and have never had a problem with one.

Was looken at BMW's before I bought my venture. The one thing more expensive to own, than a Harley, is a ......... you guessed it, BMW. Also, Hopefully you don't brake down on a long ride across the US. The dealerships are few and far between and the parts are a tad on the expensive side. It sure is puuuurdy though.

I just keep buying Dunlop 404's. Never had a problem from them. Use them on the 650 and the RSMV.

The vests are reuseable and they are made of mesh.
-
Thanks Freebird for the inquiry. Is this discount only for their $595 jackets and not their $250 vests? Also, The video says they can be used repeatedly. I'm going to Assume that means inflated/deflated repeadly just by replacing the co2 cartriage? The vests look promising, too bad they aren't mesh as that would make them just about perfect!
-
Would be nice if we could finagle a Group buy out of this wouldn't it FREEBIRD?
-
formerfuzz, The vest or jacket would still be cheaper than a Goldwing. Only problem I can see is they would probably be hot to wear in the summer... I may just get 2. one for the wife and I, Thanks ...

exerpt taken from : http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/news/concealed_carry.html QUESTION 7. I am a Florida license holder and will be driving through several states on an upcoming trip. Some of these states do not have reciprocity with Florida. If I plan to take my firearm with me, what precautions should I take for transporting my weapon in my automobile securely and legally? INTERSTATE TRAVEL WITH FIREARMS FALLS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF FEDERAL LAWS. The relevant section from United States Code is quoted in its entirety below. Sec 18 USC 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms. Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. Interstate travel with a firearm is, therefore, permissible as long as the firearm is unloaded and in such a place that it is completely inaccessible (preferably the trunk of the vehicle). HOWEVER, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT CITIZENS PLANNING TO TRAVEL WITH A FIREARM SHOULD CALL THE LAW ENFORCEMENT OR LICENSING AUTHORITIES IN THE STATES TO OR THROUGH WHICH THEY WILL BE TRAVELING TO OBTAIN THE LATEST INFORMATION REGARDING WEAPON TRANSPORT LAWS. IN SOME CASES, STATE LAW TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER FEDERAL LAW REGARDING INTERSTATE TRANSPORT OF FIREARMS.

The other scenario I invision, is while your stopped at a sign or red light, a car comes barreling at you from any direction and you can't move forward. The only split second option is head for the high ground, aka the seat. I never pull up behind a car in the middle of the lane. It is always to one side or the other, normally drivers side.
-
Strangly enough I'v though about this also. If I can't avoid car I'm gonna do my durndist to jump onto my seat and hopefully launch myself over car donig a somersault and do the two hand slap we wer taught in Akido. Things happen quickly so who knows??? This is the main reason I was thinking about buying the Honda Goldwing with air bag...
-
Someone here brought up a good point. When you lock your weapon up, it would be GOOD IDEA, to place it out of drivers reach (trunk?) and to seperate ammo from the weapon. This makes it harder for someone that doesn't have your permission to use your weapon. Also take some targets along. If you are stopped and searched just say you like to target practice. Nothings foolproof, but if you don't make the police uneasy by having a loaded gun under a car seat and not having a CCW in that state or reciprocal agreement, it will probably go easier on you.
-
Make that +1. Ensure your firearm is secured in your car in a locked box. Preferrably hidden. I had one on my 650 vstar. Believe I bought it at Walmart, it was suppose to be a lockable container to lock up keys. I had it bolted to the luggage rack in the bottom of my leather luggage/tail bag. That way, after I checked into a motel I just put it with the rest of my clothes before I went to my room. Then on my nightstand it went and I slept like a baby. Anyone that travels alot knows what you can run into out there, so just kindly ignore all the willy nillies. Out of the three people that I rode cross country with last summer, Three of us carried. So......... I can safely say you are not alone....

Getting a first bike soon and need a gear checklist!
CaptainJoe replied to GAWildKat's topic in Watering Hole
"If you are thinking you might want your own bike eventually, I would recommend he start on a V-star 650, nice light bike but still has some room and potential for comfort. And would be right there for you when he decided to move up. I personally never felt I needed anything over a 650 when I rode solo. And even two up I never had anything over a 750 until I got the Venture.. Still never felt I needed more power than a 750, just wasn't enough room to be comfortable on any of the modern 750s riding two up. And as the years have gone by, comfort has become more and more important. " I agree with hig4's. I have a 2005 650 vstar and drove it the whole way to Eugene,OR and to the keys,Fl. Its best use is 300 miles or less though. If, thats the type of riding your doing, a 650 -750 is more than adaquate. The only reason I bought the venture is "for the long trips" +500 miles a day. You can't, in my humble opinion, beat their comfort and dependability. I wouldn't however recommend, someone just starting out with motorcycles, to buy a bike this large... after all thats how I got such a deal on mine. The guy only had 482 miles on his 2007 after owning it for 3 years cause it scared the BEJESUS out of him. he ended up selling it to me for bank payoff after he had made 3 years of payments for something he could not ride... Do what you want, but most MSC let you putt around on little 250cc MC, that are easy to handle. It would be lile going straight from no driving at all, to a geo metro for 1 day, to a TRACTOR TRAILER.... I know you didn't want to hear this, but better hearing it from me, than making bank payments for something you can't use, or worse yet, something that gets you into trouble.
