Het TNRider, How do you like the Vulcan 900? I really like those and seems to fit good.

I really messed up when I sold my cherry 95 Virago after getting the Venture. My butt is still sore from kicking myself.

Something to be said for that for sure. Our youngest daughter is 16 now and she has expressed interest in riding. If we did decide to do this, she would absolutely take the safety course after riding a mini bike in a field to learn how to balance and fall down. Than maybe start with a 250 cc max for back road riding, no major highways. We are fortunate we have miles of 2 lane roads here and you can get around pretty good without getting on a 4 lane.

One reason I like my Venture over an older Goldwing is my feet fit better on the Venture. That pancake engine on the Goldwing does not allow for much foot room. Just a thought.

Under water Venture submarine, maybe that's what fired the missle off LA earlier this year? -
Honestly I was hoping you would say you would enroll her in a high performance driving school course or something like that. That is just way to much car for a 16 year old. I will stop now as I don't want to be a "flamer" but facts back me up. Thanks.

mega prayers going up....................................

Nice car, but for me there is no way a 16 year old would have a 5.0 Mustang. I know it is none of my business, no offense intended but please teach her the power that car has.

Didn't the first SHO Taurus's have Yamaha engines?

Here is a before and after pic of my fuse box. Oh yeah, my helper, he get's all pissy if I don't give him the credit. I added blue wire to my existing wire, will wrap all that in electrical tape this coming weekend.

Welcome to this place, I have been here a little over a year. I got an 89 Venture, with this site and all the great help, got it running pretty well. Another thing to consider, if your fuse panel is all mucked up, skydoc has a repair kit to upgrade the crappy fuse box.

The plastic piece around the flange the front tab hooks on my 89 was gone when I got it. I did as someone on this site suggested and took 1/4 fuel line, about 5" long, cut it length wise and wrapped it around the metal tab. Also put the big washers on the back where it attaches, no more problem.

So why should bicycles get a break? Seems like if they use the road, should pay for the road. Everybody else has to pay to use the road.

I would take I-95. When you get into Georgia, it is mostly 3 lane. When you get to Florida, take the second exit to Fernandina Beach and take A1A south. Great ride, and you get to take a ferry across the river at Mayport. Another option is to take US Hwy 29 South from Gainesville / Culpepper towards Lynchburg. You are kind of splitting VA by going down the middle. I would not do I-81 / I-77, to far out of the way.

Wonder how many tickets will be written under the "DOT Approved" helmet violation. You people realise that a "federal grant" is money taken from us, right? This group probably knows it, most people think there is a federal grant fairy.

Okay, I am 99% sure I can make this one. Looking forward to it.

Sleeperhawk at International Bike Show 2011
SC89Venture replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry I / we missed everybody Saturday. I tried to do a couple of things around the house and tried to keep an eye on the time. As usual, it got away from me. Trying to spin to many plates.- 19 replies

With my job, I cover 4 states and am gone 2-3 nights a week. I have a compamy laptop that I use while I am on the road. I visit this site, ebay, and usually craigs list looking for m/c related stuff as that is my addiction lol, and about 2 or 3 news sites. I don't do social sites like face book, etc. If any questionable site comes up, I immediately close the window. I justify my time using this for personal use as I am usually "on" while I am on the road doing business emails and phone calls. Emails are usually done at night while I gather up the days activities. Oh yeah, I always remove cookies, clear cache, clear history, everytime I close my explorer.

Looking for a great mechanic in the Orlando Area
SC89Venture replied to Tangomike's topic in General Tech Talk
You can do this. I got my 89 a year ago. I have worked on smaller bikes, my 89 was my first BIG bike. Since I have had it, I have changed the tires front and rear, inspected brake pads, replaced fuse panel, in process of changing the spark plugs, and giving it an oil and filter change this weekend. Hell, it took me a month to get the side panels off. See if you can find a manual, and join this GREAT forum. You will be more confident each time to perform a task, and you will know it is done right because you did it. -
By accident I put 10 gallons of E85 in my 99 Expedition, she immediately threw on the Service Engine Soon light. This ethanol stuff sux. At the Daytona 500, they taped little green America Ethanol flags on everybody's seat, first lap you were supposed to wave the flags as the cars came by. Mine was on the floor, lol.

There is nothing like a feeling of accomplishing something special on these bikes and hear them fire up. Now to get mine to quit popping, farting and being obscene for the first 10 minutes every time I start it from being cold!! New plugs are coming.

Time to drill through the head of a caribou / polar bear to get to our oil here and quit importing altogether. If we just indicated we were going to start doing that, and building refineries, that would have the futures market more stable. Never happen with this administration.

So, a man walks into the service department...
SC89Venture replied to Dave77459's topic in Watering Hole
Just my 2 cents worth, but it looks to me we have a problem with squareness / perpendicularity problem between the rod / crank / piston bore. This would indicate an out of position problem while parts are being machined / loaded on the fixtures / machine out of square problem. -
there was a motorcycle???????????????????

Saw an Atlas Rocket go up from Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona. Did not hear it, but saw it in all it's glory.
