  1. Sent Paypal just now. Can't wait. What is this thing? Iowa Guy
  2. Thanks for the direction. Glad to send you stuff. Iowa Guy
  3. Thanks for speaking up Squidley. Politics is the only irritating issue I've had with this site. I was reading the jokes today and having a good time till I was ambushed by an item that must of temporarily sneaked past the moderators. I was tempted to respond but why just perpetuate the irritation. I assume that there are plenty of sites on the world wide web we can find that have views similar to our own where we can let relax and make fun of the opposition with like minded people. Just not here. I like folks who like Ventures. I bought mine right at four years ago as a midlife crisis present to myself. I didn't know much then about riding, safety or maintainence and without the advice I have gotten from all the members here, I would probably not be riding now. I love riding. I have made more improvements both to the bike itself and my riding skill than I could possibly list. I have made friends with so many people from so many walks of life all of whom also love riding whatever the brand of bike. As for politics on this site, Just Say No! Iowa Guy
  4. Wow, very mixed reviews. Makes me wonder even more what one would be like. Iowa Guy
  5. I have seen a few BMW K1200LT around and I am intreged because they look like a better type of 1st gen venture. Does anyone have experience riding both of these bikes and tell me what the differences are? Iowa Guy
  6. I bought two Pico Folding Chairs. http://www.advdesigns.net/pifochbygcio.html These are great and fold up tight so that they fit right on the trunk luggage rack. Thanks Mariner Fan Iowa Guy
  7. Welcome. I saw this bike go on E-bay. I'm glad it has found a good home. You will find lotsa support here for whatever you need. Iowa Guy
  8. We filled two of our bags with dirt and used them to grow upside down tomatoes.
  9. Veteran Memorials with any religious references shouldn't be a problem. Doesn't the constitution give us freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion?
  10. I put some on my 89 and they are definitely a little louder. I could barely hear the stock mufflers from the driver's seat at 60 mph. Macs I can hear and sometimes think on a long trip that they are a little annoying. I figure it just motivates me to do what I should be doing anyway and put in my ear plugs. Iowa guy
  11. Question on the Pico Chair. Can you sit in it without it smashing your butt cheeks together? It looks like it has a different design than the typical bag chair. Iowa Guy
  12. What are the best folding chairs to strap on a bike? My wife and I like to ride to concerts or sporting events with our bike but the bag chairs, although they pack well, are not the best seat. What have other folks found are good chairs that pack well? Iowa Guy
  13. I am looking for a pair of ladies boots for my wife. She needs to feel comfortable riding behind me. Also, she just got her own license and so would do so much better if she had a good pair of boots of her own. I would wish for a pair of women's 9 1/2 Gortex zipper boots for a narrow foot. While I'm wishing, I want it all for under $100. It would make a nice surprise for her if I could pull it off for a surprise. Any ideas ladies. Iowa Guy
  14. My wife and I went to a Peace Corps Reunion in SE MN. Wonderful ride up the Iowa side of The Great River Road then split off on hiway 52. Anyway, I took some pictures at the reunion of folks and mine was the only camera that took the group shot at the end before anyone left. We had a great ride back through Central Iowa on blacktops. On the north side of Oelwein we stopped to make a phone call. I had to get a # out of my camera bag and then we took off. Just after we cleared the city limits on the south side of town, I saw this biker in a beard on an HD gaining on me fast. (I don't hurry when my wife is with me.) He pulled up beside me and frantically motioned for me to get over. I wondered how this one was going to turn out. After we'd stopped, the first thing he said was "Did you lose something?" and then it hit me. I'd laid my camera bag on the trailer at our last stop. He had seen it on the ground, looked around and saw us disappearing in the distance, stopped to pick it up then raced to catch us clear through town. He is from Independence just north of Oelwein and was out for a ride. We talked and he said that he had broke his neck after hitting loose gravel on a corner a few years ago. Wow, I thought, then he risked a broken neck again to get our camera back to us. My wife says we were visited by an angel. I agreed. Hope she doesn't want me to buy a harley now. Thanks again Harley Angel. You're a GOOD Iowa Guy. Iowa Guy
  15. I looked at my original and there were six numbers but NO letter in front. I am missing a helmet lock. If I bought one could it be rekeyed to fit the original key that I already have? Iowa Guy
  16. Thanks for the ideas. Covering the mic with a balloon or something is something that I would not have thought of. I will let you know how it goes. Iowa Guy
  17. Took a three hour trip with my wife this weekend. What a disappointment. We put an extra wind foam on her mic in her 3/4 helmet. I left mine the same as it is a full face helmet and no more foam would fit. The wind noise was awful and the sound of our voices was tinny and then my left ear piece cut out completely. I was getting a headache so after an hour of monkeying around, we pulled the plug and rode in silence. We are a couple who talk. Either I get a headset that works or I am considering buying a convertable. Beautiful day for a ride with the sun behind us illuminating the midwest countryside and we could not share the experience. Are these things a piece of junk or am I doing something wrong? We are leaving Thursday for five days in MN. If I can get a solution by then I will really be grateful. Iowa guy
  18. I got one replaced but not the other. I will follow up on that and hope for the best. Thanks Iowa Guy
  19. Wow! You are right. Great place to eat with an incredible buffet of seafood and prime rib. I ate seafood everynight for two weeks and never saw/tasted anything this diverse. The restaurant is located way back in the marsh and could use many gallons of fresh paint but all that only add to its appeal. Great place and i have recommended it to many of my friends. Thanks so much.
  20. I bought a IMC Motorcom HS-G30. They work great at low speed but once we reach highway speed the wind noise eliminates conversation. We have made sure that the mics are placed up against our lips. I have a full face helmet and my wife has a 3/4 helmet. Any ideas or have others had this problem? Iowa Guy
  21. Okay. Are the gaskets something that I can reuse from the old mufflers or do I need to buy new ones? If I need to buy new ones, are they something that I can get from O' Reilys or do I need to order from Yamaha? Iowa Guy
  22. I finally got around to putting on the Mac Mufflers. They look good and sound too good. The spacing at the front clamp is too loose. Mac is too big and/or male bike pipe is too small. (please, no comments) What is the best way to rectify this? I'm sure it is simple if you know what you are doing. And that is the reason I am asking. Iowa Guy
  23. OKAY OKAY! I've got everything written down and I will try to report back. Now I have some mighty high expectations. I do like to eat. Thanks again Iowa Guy
