  1. *** Kuryakyn Rack 7159--- and they think highly of it-- $200.00 I redid my Audio system... Something you want to consider is keeping the Controller and CB.... I have installed a Kenwood system in my fairing- It does not have a CD player but has AM FM, Bluetooth, Sirius, Pandora, and Iheartradio. It is shorter in depth than typical units and is a marine grade. I used one set of the RCA preamp outputs to link to the 3.5mm aux port in the stock radio. I then ran the front speakers directly to the Kenwood Radio and left the rear speaker wiring untouched. Now I leave the stock system in AUX mode and whatever plays on the Kenwood plays through rear... The benefits of this are: Still have CB Radio---- Still have Intercom Communications----- Anything that plays through Kenwood ex. Pandora will play through the helmets. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160221_155727.jpg
  2. Oh its true- its vinegar based... REAL BARBQUE!!
  3. They have off days occasionally.. and it is good to go after 5pm- that's when they put out Ribs and Macorroni and cheese. I recommend Fridays and Saturdays.. they have a website http://www.schoolhousebbq.com- for $10 with drink its a great deal...
  4. Good lookin bike- Like the trunk rack... the aftermarket amp might have some value.. the antennaes may have some.. What kind of amp is it? And what kind of rack is that? You may need to sell that to me..
  5. Is carburetor drain plug leakage a common problem? I have a leak on my left side front carb... It is a drip.. drip... drip... I'm no carb expert- not even a carb novice.. It looks like it is coming from the drain unless it is leaking from above to that point... Is it pretty easy to tighten the screw- is it a phillips? any tips? What size is the Oring..? Thanks for any help!! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160202_121433.jpg
  6. If you have a hazy looking shield with fine scratches that are unbearable in the sunshine... Gonna sound crazy but.. get some creamy peanut butter... Use it like rubbing compound- rub it on and massage it with a little elbow grease- don't let it sit to long.. no need for it to dry.. the cream will help remove the fine scratches and the peanut oils will moisturize and bring the natural oil back out. Before http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160201_110323.jpg After http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160201_110316.jpg
  7. Not sure how much visibility my lighting change did- but it did make the bike look newer... Did a Adjure Ice headlight and Adjure Ice driving lights.. Adds that sleek look, newer bike look. I will say at night it is probably a much better light.... Just in comparison to the old car lights... Let me see if I have a picture and I will try to post. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/cbb98938-a0d9-4e1f-89cf-89f2a6fdd21b.png http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/3e79eb93-1ca9-4126-bb84-06b33e76af45.jpg
  8. Wouldn't the 99-13s really be the 3rd generation of ventures?? 83-85 or so 1st gen 86/87 to 93 2nd gen 99-13 3rd gen
  9. This is kinda old but- http://www.utpr.com... If you have a driver backrest you can buy one of the Utopia backrest pockets... I got one and attached it to my Corbin Driver backrest. Looks good... Other ideas- look on ebay for some black purses.. I bought 2 of them that look motorcycleish... Put one of them in the top of my trunk... You can get a purse for about $3 or $4... get you some industrial Velcro and attach it to something.
  10. Any of you headed towards Myrtle Beach.. About 50 miles outside in a town called Scranton- SchoolHouse BBQ.. Very good.. and nice décor- old signage and such. Its an actual old schoolhouse for the 20s I guess... Between Florence SC and Lake City SC on Hwy 52.. (Very close to Hwy 378)
  11. Just tried to crimp and I don't know how to crimp these uninsulated pieces.. Weird.. So I am using a pair of pliers.. I did buy a new ratchet style crimper off of amazon and it should be here Friday but I don't want to wait..
  12. It does the 8 time flash then one bar on the left.. Bought a brand new sending unit and installed but no help- unless its the contacts that I had to reuse..
  13. Laugh at the peanut butter... lol--- but give it a shot and let me know what you think..
  14. A redneck guy that claimed he could paint... I had to wet sand that thing like crazy and it still has some issues that need attention.. I did the pin strip bc the factory stripes were showing through.. A decent paint job would run you probably around $800-$1000 with someone taking it apart.. Someone just painting it you could probably half that number.. I gave a guy $400 to take it apart sand parts and put it back together- and paid the half a painter $100 to shoot it.. I paid for the paint- about $70 a quart (2 Quarts) plus the clearcaot at around $30 a quart.. maybe 2 quarts. If I had to do it over- I would have let a more professional paint it.
  15. I think Ricks wanted $23 plus shipping.. so the $9 one made me happy... seems like shipping is pretty fast as well.
  16. Creamy Peanut Butter will revive the black trim.. don't leave it on just polish on and polish off... Also I have used leather conditioner on my black trim with excellent lasting results. "Leather Rescue" http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RE6KV48?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/2eb6c079-544a-44a0-b9a3-58f034c85cda.png Peanut Butter- its like a rubbing compound and the oils revitalize the oils in the plastic... Some say heat will also rejuvenate the black plastic. Try the peanut butter- I guarantee you will be impressed. Use it on your clear lowers as well.. The brake cover is the $19 Chinese knock off on ebay. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160221_122051.jpg
  17. Have an issue- my fuel gauge is flashing on the left side of the gauge. I bought a new sending unit and installed it- it did not come with a new float and I had to reuse the contacts that go with the float action. I sprayed some contact cleaner on the contacts before reinstalling.. Sadly I still have the same fault.. Any thoughts?
  18. I am having a similar problem... I recently changed to LED bulbs in the dash... the neutral indicator would stay lit- though dimly... I put the regular bulb back into that slot bc of the led lighting all the time. Recently I went back into it and pulled out the socket with pliers... It sparked, I replaced the bulb with a new one.. I still have no indicator light. Anyone have any ideas? I can still crank the bike in neutral without the clutch... When shifting into gear on the sidestand the bike stays cranked. Upon releasing the clutch with sidestand down bike will cut off. Prior to all this happening I was hearing a buzz sound coming from the blue relay on the brake side of bike- in the side cover.. I believe it may control carb heaters.. Any thoughts?
  19. Decent deal.. Got some extras.. Looks like it shined up pretty good as well.. Me and you got about the same deal- I gave $2800 for this one but it didn't run.. but had fair miles at 39K- so I thought what could be wrong--- one prob was it had eagles everywhere.. too many eagles.. I bought it bc they are all the same.. no changes. The good things about owning a 99 that is the same as a 2013--- cheaper insurance- cheaper taxes. Wife went with me to Myrtle Beach SC to pick it up- I remember telling her it sure was ugly.. lol http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/pic3.png Got a little better- needs some touch up though. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160202_121433.jpg
  20. I replaced with a Ricks HO stator and Voltage regulator.. Didn't really check anything before replacing.. Just knew I was only getting about 12.5 volts at the battery. Never had a dead battery but always worried me... While doing the install I found most of my problem... Burnt up wires and partially melted stator connection. I'm still waiting on a replacement for the connector- I found a source at http://www.rmstator.com $9 shipped for free out of New Hampshire?? The real reason for my post was to let you know about a place to buy the stator on ebay- Typically $159... Got it for $110 shipped free. (LionParts) http://www.ebay.com/itm/321838603752?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160219_125308.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160220_101310.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160202_121433.jpg
  21. I got on straight from the Chinese.. Like $5 shipped. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a397/sho_greg/20160221_155727.jpg
  22. Well im Thinking that if you were to use a bluetooth adapter for the jack- you could use your google navigation and have directions come through your stereo speakers.. Also you could have the phone on your waist without any wires... Play your music and your internet radio music... Everyone keep a eye out for me a bike... Im in South Carolina.. Interested in a low mileage good condition bike... 6-7Kish is what I would like to spend... Less if possible... Black is a great color.. Email is gregmims@earthlink.net -- dont guess I will pay for this site until I buy the bike...
  23. Just curious if anyone is using a bluetooth adapter?? Have seen some and was curious of your situation... Have one of those Motorola Droids and internet music on the FUTURE purchased bike would be great... I need this bike..
  24. OK everyone keep on the lookout for a great deal like above... lol.. I would love to get a 07 with 10Kmiles and accessories for about $8000...Even a 04... Also I need to sell me 02 Mean Streak with 17Ki ish miles... like to get as much as possible of course... Asking is $4400
  25. DId they make a 2010 model??? Or are they restyling this year... I know Yamaha had the market on CRUISER/Tourer for a LONG TIME- since 99... But now Kawasaki has the Vulcan Voyager.
