I've been thinking about the same thing and did a lot of scanning this forum and others about it. Baron's does make a front lowering kit and a performance version. I was curious as to what the difference is in handling.. See the doc I attached in this thread for what all I found about it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=56695

I always just hit the 'New Post' link at the top.. but sometimes the list is real short and sometimes its pages long.. why is that? And how does it differ from 'Today's Post' ? no biggie, just curious- 26 replies

Mel.. it looks like they did their 'Ghost Wheel' version of that on a RSTD http://www.trikealternative.com/images-photos/Yamaha-RS-Finished-005-640.jpg http://www.trikealternative.com/ghostwheels.shtml So you may be in luck. I am only 5'7 and I stand the bike up before wife gets on.. no problems.. she does a good job of making it seem easy.. but I like some of the ideas here .. espec the leaving the kickstand down for insurance.

I know this topic comes up a lot but its hard to find much on specifically lowering the RSTD because the majority of the expertise here is with the Venture, so the threads seem to quickly go that route and especially since the Venture can be lowered for free.. Actually this does also apply to the Venture - just wanting advice on lowering the bike using a lowering kit rather than the free Venture mod. I have done a lot of research on this as to better understand the options and caveats especially since I know nothing much about front suspension. So while doing this research… I compiled this summary DOCUMENT of what I gathered from all of you experts… Please let me know if you see any gaps or mistakes and hope it helps someone in the future.. But I do have some questions still.. It appears Barons has two options for lowering the front.. 1) A lowering kit (only two 1.5 in spacers) $25 2) A Performance lowering kit (the above plus Gold Valve Cartridge Emulators and progressive springs) $290 Questions: 1) Given the price difference… is the Performance kit really worth that much more money? 2) Knowing nothing about front forks… how does adding two spacers.. lower the bike? 3) I would probably have the dealer do this as I am not equipped for this.. espec the performance kit if I went that route.. but would the basic spacer kit be MUCH easier or not really? BTW, 2007 RSTD I have had the Butler mod on my stock seat, and it does help. I have 29”-30” inseam, so while its not imperative, I would just like to get a little lower for backing up and stability when two up at a standstill. So debating on if this is worth it or not.. Thanks for any advice, Globewalker

Bracing for the cold down here in Houston [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhHr7LCVQRw]YouTube - Snow In Houston[/ame] It is much colder than usual and could be bad if we get rain with it ... but there may be a little overreaction at this point here

And besides.. if Texas sent that weather.. it wouldn't be in no cm's.. We don't know what that is... :-)

hmm yea saw this and thinking about ... have 3+ hours left. It is not an intercom, but for $50 looks like good price for a wireless bluetooth.

These handlebars appear to be unavailable... does anyone know where they are for sure in stock? I ordered them from Phats Performance and they have once again been delayed on backorder from Flanders. First they were backordered until May21, then June 10 and now July15. Phats says they don't ship till they deliver so they want them to arrive also, but they called Flanders while I was on phone and they arent available. I suspect they must get enough orders in before they will tool up for it. Salesman at Phats indicated the whole industry is in pinch right now... I am speaking of Flanders model 650-08783 for my 07 RSTD

Elecrical problem? Any Ideas?
Globewalker replied to WAC1972's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Sounds like regulator and/or battery (possibly also stator). I had a Honda that dogged and died on me, left me hanging.. was regulator and battery. Measure voltage at battery while running and with lights on and revving and idle.. should stay consistent at 13.8ish if all is well. If battery is old.. go ahead and try that first. -
I am pretty sure Owen from Houston said it was Samson's he had on his RSV and they sounded pretty good.. not sure what model.. I heard them at Squidley's Open House...

Search this site on RK mufflers and stock pipes for cheap mods. Here is a recent thread about moding stock pipes. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41418&highlight=stock+pipes There appears to be various methods depending on 1st or 2nd Gen and preference. I am about to attempt it myself on my 07RSTD using the method Footsie described in that thread. Can't speak to slip-ons but there are many discussions on that also. -
Drilling Stock Mufflers
Globewalker replied to Whitlow's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Hate to beat a dead horse .. no really... but just to clarify.. There is a lot of suggestions in several threads about ripping the cone out, then drilling holes to mod the stock pipes.. maybe that is for 1st Gen? This pic attached is the end of my pipes on 07 RSTD and I am thinking that is not the way to go on these. I want to be able to bolt the tip back on the pipe, so I cannot loose the cone where the threaded holes are. So, likely the method Footsie recommends cutting the pipe up in the tube and pushing aside is the way to go for 2nd Gen ? Will the cone on the end still be intact so tip can be bolted back on? Thanks! -
The model number at the top of this thread must be a typo because it does not match the specs below it and are actually close to the same as stock... "Here are the specifics on the Flanders bar as compared to the stock bar: 650-08373, Flanders Pullback Handlebars, Chrome, Metric Knurled (4" in side x 5" out side)" From what I have seen in other threads, the model to get for the RSTD is 650-08783... Right?

Stebel Air Horn question/discovery...
Globewalker replied to bamico's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think your right Larry. I saw what looked like a nice perfectly square shaped spacer in your pics and was wondering if it came with the horn... and it does not with the Wolo. Maybe you can make your bracket longer so the spacer isn't needed? just a thought for you. And thanks for the reply LongTall.. I see u had the same issue. Thanks. Keith -
Stebel Air Horn question/discovery...
Globewalker replied to bamico's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, the width of a Nut and lock washer was enough to shim it out and fit. Just looks a bit ugly.. kind of disgraces that shiny little bracket holding it on.. See pic. I'll have to come up with something to cover that or a different Shim. I wonder why the Carbon One bracket is a perfect fit for some people but not for others.. is it the Wolo (which is supposed to be identical to Stebel) or is it the RSTD vrs Venture or is it the 1st Gen vrs 2nd Gen or is it the phase of the moon But man is it loud! I mounted my relay under the side cover just to the left so the original horn wires reach straight to the relay - fits real nicely. Thanks for the advice.
