i was riding saturday, finally got some good weather.i stopped by the bike shop in my town,i was curious about gas mileage on my 83 venture.i have been reading post about how many miles that riders get on a tank of gas.it varies from 35-47 or so.i told the guy about it he laughed at me.he said the only way those bikes can get that kind of mileage if they pushed them.he said that a bike has to be 250 cc or smaller to get that kind of mileage. he said that i was looking at about 20-25. so whats the deal? so who is blowing smoke? i guess i do about 140 or so

hi again,i was wondering about the rear suspension.i have an 83 venture with the manual air valve.i have been reading about the air pressure, different people ride with different air pressure.i was checking the bike and it seem to not have any air in the rear.i can tell when i get on it, it seem to be low.i hear it squeak like its all the way down on the shock i guess.i want to try to put air in it but not to much to hurt anything.i put a little in the front and i could see it rise real fast.i was wondering about the back.the wife wants to ride and i dont want her first ride to be bumpy and bottoming out.

i tapped on the carbs, put a half bottle of sea foam in the tank.i let it run for about 10 minutes it looked fine.a couple minutes later the gas went to gushing out like a faucet.i turned it off wife is pissed garage smells like a gas station:bawling:i also took the scews out 1 at time and turn the ignition to let the fuel pump run any bad sediments oot of the cabs. the wife said get that s--t out the garage, mind you it is snowing here.that was a good converstion at 4 am this morning:Im not listening to
-
i purchased the sea foam.i cant to anything today,it is snowing real bad in dallas.it look like about 6 inches and slushy out there.i will tap the carbs too.i dont know anything about messing with those carbs.i will try the easy stuff first if that doesnt work will have to get some professional help.

i took the seat and plastic covers off.i see the fuel is comming from 4 thin black hoses.i cant tell which one though.they are thin hoses,i guess they are comming from the carbs.

me and my wife went by a stereo installation place and did some checking around.i asked a few questions,i checked on a 40 watt amp with the ipod mps hook up it cost about 50 bucks they can install it for about 200 bucks that with the amp.i can do that an wouldnt have to worry about skipping cds.he also had a set up with 4 6x9 and a 4 channel amp.the speaker would be mounted in the luggage compartment, 2 in each one.he would drill holes in the luggage for the sound to come out of the inclosure.he said it was loud and clear just like in a car.imagine the sound comming off of that bike.plenty of tickets for loud music. that will run you about 700 bucks for that set up.to much for me -
hi,one of the the brothers on this site came up with a good idea.i was doing alot of posting about get ing sounds on my stock 83 venture.i have the slightest ideal how to go about doing this.i installed the speakers, now its on to the radio.i saw the wiring chart for the bike and i am sure enuff lost.was wondering about the marine cd player i saw at walmart,or going with a small amp with the aux input so i can use my mp3 player.i was wondering where there any venture owners in the dallas area who has done this to there bike.i need help and dont know where to start.i figure going to an stereo shop would be high dollar.well if anyone has any ideas.places i can go to. thanks again
