RSTD 2005 with 107,000 miles???
TDunc replied to RSTDinFL's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
My Answers: Are you selling your bike for $3500.00 in NC? No, mine has everything that came with a RSTD. Mine does not have 107,000 miles on it. No Radio? Correct, RSTDs did not come with a radio. No Cruise? Incorrect, RSTDs did come with cruise and mine is in tact and works correctly. I just was trying to help by offering a bike with 70+ thousand miles less than the one you were lookin at, clean, private seller so you know where the bike came from and with the windshield and passenger backrest that came with the bike. Plus two sets of pipes, luggage, custom white leather, lots of chrome extras. It was to give you something to compare against. I wish you luck and in finding what you want in a hurry. -

Take a look at the last four pics in original post. My original OEM shield is in front of the F4. The F4 approximately 2 inches taller and 4 inches wider. The F4 is measured from the cut out at the bottom to the top. In one of the previous pics, you can see where I had a tape measure. No, I did not consider going shorter because I sit very tall in the saddle. I sat looking right below the top of the window in my sight line. I was constantly tilting head to see over or ducking to have a clear view. With the F4, so far that is eliminated. I am totally behind the shield. Buffeting was hitting the top of my helmet with the OEM and now I have about three inches of free air above my helmet. That is the ride I was looking for. So far (one ride) I'm satisfied.

Mike, the black is actually off of the OEM sitting in front of the F4. I did that so you could see the difference side by side so to speak. I have not had time to notice that particular view. But that is a good point.

I should have put it in the original. Sorry. F4-YRSV-19_5-W-VENT-C 19.5" Clear Wide

I am the proud and humbled owner of a brand new F4Customs windshield. This is the largest shield available for the Venture that F4 makes at this time and it does have the integrated vent. Model # F4-YRSV-19_5-W-VENT-C 19.5" Clear Wide After talking with Don, he suggested that I start a thread here so I can add too it as I need to while giving a review of the shield. Once the review is done, we will make it a report and move it to the library. My intentions are to bring both the good and the bad. In doing this, I am basically going to review this in the form of a Diary listing just about every ride, the things noticed about the shield, cleaning, wear, gas mileage changes and any thing else that may pop up related to the windshield. Should you have any questions post them and I will answer to the best of my ability. So, to get started: I received the windshield nicely packed in a box and protected what I consider well enough to protect it under most shipping circumstances. Mine did come in with the box a little crushed. I was a little concerned until I was able to unpack it. As you can see the box was a little crushed Shield out of box and out of packing material Unwrapped face down - unwrapped face up Notice that the shield also had a protective coating of plastic stuck to it. Below are a few measurements. Now for a few comparison pics. I have my OEM in front of the F4. The black is on my original OEM, NOT the F4 and the F4 still has the sticky protective plastic on it. This should be enough to hold you for a few moments at least... I did take my first ride with it this past Tuesday. I will post some more shortly.

I'll slow down!!:big-grin-emoticon: -
Alright now ECK and Steve, You have me thinking... I like the idea... Will keep the heat off the seat in the summer too. Quick to put on and balls/folds up into a small pouch sewn onto the side like an ENO Hammock.... HMMMM Thanks ECK and Steve I think I will sew a "sock" so to speak to slide down over my shield with bungie lines on each side of the main rectangular cover front to back. From the side it will look like an "L" lying on its back. This way the shield and dash are covered with NO stress and all the stress will be front to back on the bungies....... I use Nylon Ripstop for most of my tarps and the such for camping so I have alot of it lying around.... Be back in a few days with a cover and some pics.

Couldn't be said better. I finally did just that. Darn I thought it was just something else to spend money on but it was the best way to go to handle the forks and shock. I keep it in the bike all the time. -
It decided to get cold down here south of the Mason Dixon so I decided to change out the stock shield for the new F4Customs Shield. I am documenting for a write up with Pics but I did have one initial comment. After that I hope to ride Tuesday with a few friends if the weather clears like it says. OMG it's Big! I can wear them all day, take them out of the box and hike 6 miles and they last well for me. You can buy them in brown or black. and about $70.00. I have had one black pair that I use just for motorcycle and they are over a year and a half old.

A hotel in Little Switzerland has great Portabello Mushroom Sandwiches!!!! :thumbsup2: Not that food drives my ride??????

It is threads like this that prove that these bike are the beast! We are just about split on which bike to get and there is seven years difference. Name a car that this type of discussion would be happening with (and I'm talking about normal cars not collector types) I have two 06's and a 03 came available just up the road from me and I had to think hard. All because of the color.... Paint.!!!! REALLY???? See what I mean. We all ride great bikes in the TDs/Ventures. Yes I really like GW's but I just don't fit on them like these.. My choice of the two would be the one with the least mileage....If a all the rest was equal. The rest is not important to me cause the bikes are what they are.
