  1. So I should tighten my clamps and replace the Bypass o-ring. Gotcha. I had a leak from the carb when parked but seafoam seemed to help that...THANKS FOR THE CARB THREAD....I dreaded taking those off. Thanks for the info guys. I knew it was a good idea to ask.
  2. My choke cable broke or came loose at the handlebar. I got another cable and I'm about to dive in. Does anyone have any hints that the manual won't tell me? I also noticed a small coolant leak from somewhere near the top of the engine when it is parked. At least now it is warm enough to get in the shop and do it!
  3. I sold my Vstar 1100 custom and went looking for something a little more comfy. I saw an add for a 1984 Venture and thought it was cheap enough to resale and add more bucks to my new bike fund. It was the day after Christmas when I picked it up. I had to drive it home about sixty miles in thirty degree weather with a few sprinkles. She was a beauty and i was impressed. as i entered the on ramp to I-24, I got a surprise as the front wheel began to lift gently skyward. By the time I got home I decided this WAS my new bike. I'm hooked and I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. The temp got above freezing for the first time in weeks today. I think I can get enough ice off the door to get in the shop where she sets. It don't need much but this weather has got to give so I can get in there to her!!! Hang on BLUE!

  6. Divorce papers cured mine for about twenty years and then I decided to get married again...I forgot about the whine until then. And he is right, candy and flowers stops it for a day or two.
  7. I wish I had joined a couple days earlier. I live between Hendersonville and Goodlettsville. I had a 30x x 30 shop fully equipped. Hopefully you won't ever need such help again but If you do, I'm here now.
  8. Come o down to Nashville for a visit. We got the guitar drop downtown at midnight for New years and all the clubs are open for the street party. Guarantee that you will hear so much country that your head will be full enough you won't need a radio...just sing along with the voices in your head!
  9. I just bought a 1984 venture Royale 1200 that runs perfect but has leaky carbs. Before I tear into them, I was wondering what would be considered the best bvang for the buck on the intake and exhaust. Nothing like asking those with a background. I found several threads but not about both together. I have heard about a k&N filter, multiple pods with airbox removal, and tons of ideas on the exhaust and the carb jetting. I guess I'd like to just get it all broken down to the ins and outs of things!
  10. I too have been having problems with a float sticking but before I take the carbs off, I would be interested in opinions on the best intake K&N, pods...ie...and the best way to open up the exhaust system. I have read the many ideas but who can tell me for sure what sounds and looks good on these bikes. I would be interested on jetting ideas also. I do not want to be taking the carbs off more than once. it looks like a job. I have a 1984 Venture Royale 1200 that is stock with leaky carbs Thanks:hurts: Vic
  11. I guess that's how speed reading works!
