When carbs are removed and cleaned should the coasting enrichment valve assembly diaphram be replaced? Should this assembly be a concern on a very low mileage 1st Gen Venture that is being renovated for long term use? Should the assembly be replaced because it is 30 years old, even though it is very low mileage?

Will this oil filter adapter work?

Can you or someone please tell me the brand and number of the spin on filter that will fit the adapter? -
Is the Bridgestone tire still a poor choice for the XVZ 1300 VR? Is the Dunlop Elite 3 still the proper choice tire for the VR?

I will have to purchase a camera. MC is currently in the mechanics garage, hopefully to be fully renovated. I moved it there yesterday. Garage Owner/Mechanic expressed some reservations about whether he will have to disassemble the MC to replace the fuel tank (MC has been sitting up for about thirty years). I will find out on Monday whether or not he will carry through. I once considered doing the renovation myself but common sense prevailed.

four brush starter
Shadetree replied to Shadetree's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Are all 2nd gen starters four brush starters? Shade tree -
Four brush starter. On Ebay there is a starter: New 12V starter Fits XVZ 1300TFS. $159.95. Unit type MITSUBA. Is this a four brush starter? Will it fit my 89 XVZ 1300 VR?

A mechanic is renovating my 89 VR, with 206 miles on it. In the first generation VR, at what point (in mileage) does the hot start problem begin? At what point (in mileage) is the four brush starter and heavy gauge starter wires needed? Will the higher out put stator help with hot starts? Would it be prudent to make upgrades at this point instead of waiting until hot start problems begin?

I could not get an order to process at yamahapubs.com. I ordered one direct from Crestec, 1-888-530-9446. It will be shipped tomorrow and I should have it in two or tree days. Thanks for the help. -
I have a hard copy service manual.

Nothing specific. I really need and owner's manual. I have tried ebay several times. Yamahapubs.com does not seem to be a valid source. A purchase attempt would not process. No contact info. No phone number. No address.

Anyone know of a source where an owner's manual for 89vr can be purchased? Owner's manual for 86 thru 93 VR would be helpful. Thanks. I tried yamahapubs.com. Site would not accept an American Express card number. I then tried VISA card. I then got a response that my address was wrong. Site has no contact info - no phone number. no address. I ordered an owner's manual direct from Crestec, Phone Number 888-530-9446. Thanks for the help.

I would like to purchase an Owner's Manual for 1989 1st Gen VR. I have tried ebay, amazom, and Club web sites. When I attempted to buy one at yamahapubs.com, on one attempt my card number was refused. On another with a different card my address was refused. All suggestions on a source for and owner's manual will be appreciated. Any manual for 1986 thru 1993 would be helpful.
