clutch issues...again!
mrich12000 replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I first received my bike,(1983 First gen) the shop that did the inspection for me(Universal cycle Calgary) Found the clutch lever had an elongate pivot hole and needed replacement. $7.89 for it . works great, But the fluid goes down every 3 months and there is a fluid leak very small under the bike . I believe the slave for the clutch is sweating the fluid out. So, I think yours is doing the same. ask here for a rebuild kit. my 2 cents Michael.. -

:soapbox:Well there are strong strobe light systems that can go into the bike headlight housing(home brew) Just need the optics code for your area . think most strobe at 1750 per second. so a an old radio shack strobe could in fact trigger the strobe.(Don't get caught.) Michael.. -

pickup coil info / help
mrich12000 replied to bald josh's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The map sensor is to control the advance in the TCI. Also for altitude, as it is a barometric type of sensor as well, as you got a higher altitude the barometric pressure drops every 1000 feet it is 3 inch of Mercury. Also there may be a power transistor along with a faulty diode. It would be advantageous to buy that other TCI to get rid of the problem. The pickups are also called "Hall effect pickups " They supply a Square wave interrupt to make and break signal to the TCI, there the TCI knows which coil to supply power to.. I think this is right. my 2 cents good luck. also, watch your piggies when you put that stator cover back on.. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28434 Check this out as well..Michael in Calgary.. -

Black RTV, available at Canadian Tire,Carqwest,Napa, @$ 4.69 Cost.. Also Like it was said before; Shifter shaft seal, middle gear cover gasket. That was my problem. DO The shifter shaft seal to. I had the same problem and sealed it with a new seal for the neutral switch "O" ring. go to part-shark fiche and look up the parts as it takes a week to get these parts from Yamaha's warehouse in Toronto,Ontario .. Good luck. PS the bike needs to be raised to access the Shifter shaft, or a jack stand(placed on the engine guard) to Lean on at @ 60 deg. Lean.. Hope this helps..Michael in Calgary..

$ 1.50 Turkey roast pan, Wally mart at the oil change bay. But first ask the manager if it is OK to do this by a parking spot. I had no problem in Monkton NB to get this done. The store even had my fitter, Amsoil, so they profited from the pan, oil, and filter. If you ask with sugar, The work is done sweetly.

I switched from Motul to Rotela 15 40 and the Clutch slip stopped, great stuff. You shouldn't have to change that often since it is a truck oil their service intervals are longer since the oil stock is hardier:witch_brew: than the other oils.
