  1. Those nylon washers are expensive. I got some that I think will fit for a dime a dozen, the OEM comes in somewhere around $3-$5 a piece. I am attaching a pdf file of the fairing parts, with parts list.
  2. I have ordered from them and not had a problem. As someone else said, my order came in two shipments but I only paid one cost. Now if they had sent me something other than what I had ordered, I would expect them to send me the correct part. I wonder if the restocking fee came about because of the order being totally cancelled rather than just requesting that the sent parts be exchanged for the correct ones.
  3. I grew up in a small rural town. For some reason folks always figured that country folks could always use another dog, cat, whatever but never had the intestinal fortitude to actually knock on a door while leaving the present. Usually the outcome was not pleasant. Good on you for doing the right thing and I hope karma is doing the right thing for the low life moron who dumped them.
  4. That was a neat story
  5. Depending on what might come up between then and now, I would go.
  6. We used to go to Lock Stock and Barrel to shoot (in Grantville), decent range fees. Autrey's Armory in Fayetteville was maybe a bit classier but more expensive. I did notice that Newnan now has it's own range though.
  7. Very nice looking bike.
  8. I haven't used PHP in years, but the editor I use is HTML-Kit Tools. There is a free version. While it isn't a straight up WYSIWYG, there are tabs for previewing what you are doing on the browsers of your choice. I also edit my CSS using it. http://www.htmlkit.com/
  9. For what it is worth, this is what Harley teaches on charging systems. Check the battery voltage with key off, then check the voltage with the bike running. If that voltage is higher, the system is putting out voltage to the battery. The next checks are: Disconnect stator at the R/R and check the three legs (1-3, 1-2, 2-3) at 2000 RPM. That should be 32 - 46 VAC. Since Yamaha didn't give us values for that, the option is to check all three at 1000 RPM, then at 2000. The reading should be fairly consistent across the legs, and the 2000 reading should be about double the 1000. Significant differences between the legs means that you have a problem with the stator. Low voltages, but consistent across all the legs means a problem with the rotor. Next test is continuity between the legs (should be less than 1 ohm), as has already been pointed out. Then check for stator to ground (should be open). On newer Harleys they don't actually check the R/R. If the first three tests are good, they test continuity from the R/R back to the battery. If that is good, they replace the R/R.
  10. Ruffy, I am in Kissimmee. I can assist if you get the kit. I have one of the J tools, but no shims or gaskets. I am not on the forum every day so email or phone is the best way to reach me.
  11. Hummingbird at one time there were a bunch more folks in Snyder and the surrounding area. Some fine eating too, but the ones I remember are long gone. I have eaten at Skeet's and it was good, but I missed the old places too much.
  12. I haven't been on in awhile, sorry I missed your original post. Grew up 11 miles south of Snyder, went to school there, didn't know anyone was bottling salsa there. There is a neat road that has some nice scenery, if you take 180 west of Snyder to Farm to Market road 1269 and go north through Fluvanna till you hit 84. That will take you over the Caprock in that area. Also gets you in the neighborhood of the Rolling Thunder place. If the prickly thorns look like the picture, then they are referred to as prickly pear in that region. They do have some uses. Taught me on more than one occasion to pay attention to where I was walking or backing into. And if a drought gets really bad, ranchers burn the thorns off so the cows can eat the stuff. Old timers used to make jelly out of the pears.
  13. When school lets out we have a bunch of bikes heading out into Orlando traffic. Some of them drive in ways that almost make me hate bikers. One guy in particular has a habit when coming to a red light with traffic in front of him of stopping briefly, then slowly lane splitting his way up and cutting into the front of the line if possible, but at least in front of the vehicle he just passed. Of course I have also had idiots cut past me (on the right) as I am making a right hand turn.
  14. For those who are military, even retired, you can get reservations for the MWR facilities at Trumbo. They have some 2 bedroom trailers and three bedroom apartments. We have stayed there twice, the last time we took some non-military friends. The only restriction with that was that one of us had to be with them at all times while they were on base. It is just about a mile from the gate down to Duval street, easy walk down and fairly cheap taxi ride back if you feel that it might be too far to stagger back. Also for military ID holders, you can get discount tickets to some of the dinner cruises, etc through the base. Helps the money go a bit farther.
  15. Just a tip on seats. I had pillow tops on my 05 and liked them a lot, but started having problems after a crappy aircraft flight that made it difficult to do long trips. However, there is an awesome fix to that, google the butt butler seat mod I have had it on two RSVs and wouldn't want to ride a bike without it. He also makes some quick out fasteners for the saddlebags and seat, a proportioning valve set up to decrease the likelihood of locking up the back brakes, Skydoc makes a clutch mod if you have issues with slipping. Come to think of it there are a whole bunch of folks out there who have come up with ways to put the icing on the cake of riding the RSV.
  16. Glad to hear that he is getting better.
  17. Thanks, first day back on here in awhile. Spent the last two weeks working with a carbureted Softail, tweaking it using a dyno. This next week it will be a FI Softail. Kind of fun.
  18. Where is the fun in that?
  19. I wasn't worried until I picked up some bread the other day. Said to use by 12/21/2012. Now I am concerned.
  20. Hope you heal up quickly Jeff.
  21. My most memorable Christmas was 1979. I was stationed in Germany as were all my brothers and brother in law. Mom and Dad traveled over to see us, first time all of us had been together in 17 years. We all spent Christmas together and then the folks spent some time with each of us. Dad had been in the Army in WWII and had come through the Kaiserslautern area where I was stationed. I found an Army publication that gave a day by day accounting of where different units had been and we were able to trace his route back into France.
  22. Sounds like a neat trip. I am jealous.
  23. The RSV manual doesn't call for it. Harley specifies that you use LOCTITE® C5-A® Copper Grade Anti-Seize on V-Rod spark plugs, it has copper and graphite in the compound so it does conduct electricity. Here is a good site if you want to know the properties of a particular version of Loctite: http://www.henkel.mx/mxe/content_data/83749_LT3355v4_MROantiseize.pdf
  24. Welcome to RVing. Nice looking rig, hope you enjoy your travels. The RV version of venturerider.org is irv2.com.
  25. Sorry to hear about this.
