Being from the great and sovereign state of Texas, I have had to carry a passport to visit the unenlightened portions of the U.S. for some time:stirthepot:

Anyone been watching Ken Burns's "The War" on PBS?
Gray Ghost replied to helomech's topic in Watering Hole
I haven't watched any of it, but then again, I was fortunate enough to have grown up with WWII vets around. Then when I went in the service I worked for some of those guys. I drove for a little over a year for a LTG that commanded an armored combat team that held up the German assault on Bastogne while the 101st was setting up. And being in Germany I met quite a few Germans who were also vets of the war. Their stories were important, but more important was their strength of character. Sitting on this side of history we cannot fathom the uncertainty that the folks who lived then faced. Not knowing if their way of life would survive, or for those who lived under rule of the Axis powers, if they would ever know freedom again. We owe them all a huge debt of gratitude. -
Retired in 2003 after a little more than 30 years in the Army (49 years old), went to work as a contractor, went back in the Army, am back on retirement and back working as a contractor again. My goal in life is to be like Lowell, and once my wife retires I do believe I will start the travelling.

I am more of a simple design guy, I may have misspelled some of the words as I am not fluent in Canadian.

Looking at the new one, I notice that there is a lot of detail in that, such as the border along the lower left side. That becomes more of a problem when getting a smaller patch done. That being said, I like the old patch, but I like colors too.

I contacted Signal Dynamics by phone this morning. (They never responded by email, maybe they realize that we talked by phone, though). They issued me a return authorization number and have told me that they are shipping me a new one right away. I will post again as this continues. The guy I talked to said that they have moved and are interested in trying to figure out what happened on this one.

I haven't got the reply from SD yet, as they were closed. I sent them an email and expect a reply soon. Freezy, you mean they actually sell a 15" light bar with solder points for 11 LEDs with only three LEDs actually on the board? I didn't see those on their website.

If you order one of these inspect it very carefully when it arrives. If you are using it as running and brake lights, there should be three (one on each end and in the middle) that light as running lights. There are eight, four on each side that come on as brake lights. I was installing mine today and found out that the eight were never installed on the light board.

Compared with other commodities the price of milk has been fairly stable. It may be the same old cows, but the price of gas, price of feed, cost of financing, etc all affect the price. I love getting pay raises, but then so does every one else. This also affects the prices of everything.

I have the 500C and really like it. I have not had any problems with the hard drive at all. I am not sure that Lowrance still sells it though, last time I checked their products they weren't advertising it, but did have a 600C, difference is that the 500C has 10 gigabytes of memory for mapping and ten for MP3s, etc. The 600C has 25 gigabytes of memory for mapping and 5 for MP3s. I like the bigger screen, and the large space for MP3s. I used to have mine mounted on the handlebars, just moved it to the crown above the gas cap.

I am assuming you are referring to the Barefoot Willies "Cool Rider". I had one of those and was doing some rearranging and found that the backside of the clamp had cracked from both sides so that only a thin sliver of the thing was holding it together.

Depends on the base. Here in the Atlanta area, retirees are not eligible for the free course. It was $250 when I took it, but still worth it.

in a pre-crash discussion about GPS systems, someone had mounted their GPS on the "crown" by the gas cap. It may have been Spud. Cliff Fargason

For those of you riding with GPS, that indicated speed will be more accurate than your speedometer. Cliff Fargason- 27 replies

Sherry, We all react to grief in our own way. Do not let what someone else thinks as the proper way to do things override what you feel is in the best interest of you and your immediate family. Take your time, pray, and make decisions in your own time. You are not responsible for fulfilling your BIL's wishes, or anyone else's. If you do things their way, even though it doesn't feel right to you, it will not make things any better. Chances are that in their grief they are "striking" out at everything, so nothing will be good enough, and you will feel that you have let yourself down. Cliff Fargason

How long can you stay seated?
Gray Ghost replied to RSTD-MN's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have, doing an Iron Butt, been on a stock seat for over twenty hours. Of course that doesn't count road stops. I try to make it a rule to stop every 100 - 120 miles (or 1.5 - 2 hours) to stretch and move around. Cliff Fargason -
I purchased some of the hot weather stuff since I was going to Iraq. It seemed to work pretty good while I was training in Texas, but I didn't bring it with me to the sandbox. It is out of favor here because it has a tendency to melt to your body if exposed to high heat as in a vehicle fire. Cliff Fargason
