  1. I hope you liked the look, mini. Cause once you go bald you never go back.
  2. Wish we could be there, muffinman. But we will meet up again, and then since you don't do the cold one thing, the DQ is on me.
  3. I have a 765, but it does not compare with my Lowrance IWay when it comes to being readable in sunlight. But I like the size so I now have a glarestomper that I hope will enable me to see the map in sunlight.
  4. You get software with the nuvis that will let you plan your route and download it to your GPS.
  5. This is a great site, with great people. You need to get her involved in your unit's Family Support Group as well, though. There are some things that they can help with that we won't be able to. Godspeed and keep safe.
  6. I have seen cars pull into the middle of group ride formations on more than one occasion. It sounds like you have pretty much got the front lit up as much as you can. I have reflective tape on my saddlebags as well as extra running lights and a reflective flag decal that can be seen from a long way off on my helmet. But no matter what you do, some folks are not going to see you.
  7. I didn't see the BBC story, but common sense tells me that it couldn't have been an hour. The number of casualties was terrible, but if he had had an hour in that building without armed resistance, there would have been a lot more dead and wounded.
  8. Lew, let us know if you need anything, and of course when we can go by to visit once she is in the hospital.
  9. Glad to see y'all are acclimating so well.
  10. I saw quite a few Aussies in Iraq. Thanks to your countrymen and women for their service also.
  11. I did my first tour in Combat Engineers. The one thing I learned is Engineers don't mix well with others. And my apologies for getting their branch wrong. Sappers are a proud lot for good reason.
  12. Gun Bunnies! Hope all goes well with them at Sill. I know you are proud of them. Your relationship with them will be alot different from now on. Thanks for your families service.
  13. You mean I don't have to take a boat to see Canada? Swifty lied to me.
  14. I purchased a Nelson-Riggs half cover (sort of like the coveralls Don posted about) when I was doing a lot of traveling for work. Personnally I prefer the half covers because I can pull up at a hotel after a long day and put the cover on without waiting for the motor to cool off. And I don't have to put the antennas down either. Recently it started letting a bit of moisture through but I have had it for over 4 years and had never retreated it with waterproofing.
  15. I glanced at the article. I knew the reviewer was biased against it when he talked about how the shape of the fairing meant the rider would get very wet. That has never been a problem for me unless it is just about monsoon force rain.
  16. I don't know about them being "fake". They radiate enough heat that I use them on long rides to warm my hands while I ride.
  17. Don, I found these online for the Canadian Armed Forces. The first for the Air Force, the next, Land Forces, and the last Maritime. If these are not the equivalent of the US service seals, perhaps the overall badge you found with a label denoting the branch underneath.
  18. Welcome home Clay.
  19. got mine, they look great. Thank you for doing this.
  20. We were talking with some friends about this yesterday. I grew up in a rural area of west Texas. The school I went to did a carnival with each class sponsoring an activity, cake walk, etc. Had a lot of fun with that, never went trick or treating so I can't say whether it was better or worse. We also commented about the carloads coming to the subdivision. But then it dawned on us that there are a lot of kids who live along the main roads who don't have a safe place to go house to house. So I have to put my grinch attitude aside and remember that I had it a lot better than these young ones while I hand out candy.
  21. A charity that supports military folks called Soldiers Angels is having a fund raising drive until Veterans Day. Called Project Valour - IT, it does the following: More About Valour-IT Project Valour-IT helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries. Items supplied include: Voice-controlled Laptops - Operated by speaking into a microphone or using other adaptive technologies, they allow the wounded to maintain connections with the rest of the world during recovery. WII Video Game Systems - Whole-body game systems increase motivation and speed recovery when used under the guidance of physical therapists in therapy sessions (donated only to medical facilities). Personal GPS - Handheld GPS devices build self-confidence and independence by compensating for short-term memory loss and organizational challenges related to severe TBI and severe PTSD. The web page is http://soldiersangels.org/index.php?page=project-valour-it.
  22. It is not just the local Golden Corral. The first one I went to was in 2003, and they have done it every year that I can remember since then. I forget the day they are doing it, but they usually don't require verification either. I appreciate both corporations doing this for the vets.
  23. Yes, Clay is still there.
  24. When I was stationed in Germany in the 70s I used to see guys strolling into the bars wearing leather with chains looking like real tough guys. But it always killed me to watch them go outside and "roar" off on their scooters (literal scooters).
  25. Harper, then up to Scurry County.
