Might be off the bike for a while...............
Gray Ghost replied to DragonRider's topic in Watering Hole
Sorry to hear about your problems Lewis. If you do decide to go to a chiropractor at some time but don't have one you normally go to, we go to a fellow biker that has an office over by Cycle City. Let us know if there is anything we can do. Cliff -
Sorry to hear about this. It is really difficult to lose a parent physically, but you will find that they are still with you in a way. I find that when I am on a long ride by myself it seems that my Mom or my Dad go with me. I hope that you find peace in the situation soon.

Sorry to hear this Annie.

LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Gray Ghost replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
One of the things that Custom Dynamics told me that if you run the 4-ways for a long time with load equalizers that you run the risk of burning out the equalizer. I have decided to stick with the fast flash, besides, I like the idea of gaining back a little power. Added note: If the equalizers don't come with instructions I would call the company. One thing I like about using CD is that they have great customer service. -
LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Gray Ghost replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just swapped out all my turn signals and tail light for LEDs from Custom Dynamics. I ordered the GEN200-Y-KIT from http://www.customdynamics.com/yamaha_turn_signal_retro.htm. White in front, dynamic clusters in the rear, and the metric signal stabilizer instead of load equalizer. I have checked the radio with the new signal lights and there is no static. Not sure if they compare with driving lights yet. The only downside is that while the four ways work great, flashing on just one side flashes fast. The tech support told me that some of the RSVs and RSTDs have that problem. Adding a load equalizer or signal stabilizer to the front might or might not cure it. So I am going to let them flash fast for now. I -
Lower wind deflector on mine. And Boomer, thanks for releasing pygmies on the Army bases. I got lost on a land nav course and ran across one. Tasty with ketchup.

A radio station in Johnstown PA used to play that every Friday morning when I was stationed there.

It isn't so much the organizations, as it is the people working for those organizations that make the difference. The DAV rep at Ft Knox was excellent in working for me, whereas the one here is Atlanta is useless. Actually the VA caseworker I had here in Atlanta went out of his way to get my upgrade done when the DAV rep was sitting on his keister. Congress critters can be helpful at times, depends on how active he/she wants to be. When DFAS was giving me problems restarting my retirement pay after a recall, my congressman stepped in after three months of non-payment. His assistance resulted in my pay starting after only six months of non-payment. I would try a service rep, but don't be afraid to follow that up by calling the VA directly about the case at some point to ensure that the service rep is actually doing the job.

I was on a MiTT in Iraq 2006 - 2007. Where did your team train, and what time frame? I ended up being the last guy at Hood and had to restart at Riley. I started at Riley towards the end of August.

The food issue has been covered pretty well. My father, brothers, sons (except one), wife and myself were all Army. I enlisted in 1972, retired in 2003, then got recalled in 2006 for a visit to Iraq. Comparing the equipment we had to the equipment that we were issued in the 70s is like comparing a space shuttle to a horse and buggy. Even so there are folks who like to have a little extra. We were issued some really nice optics for our M4s, but I knew a guy that spent a bundle getting something just a bit more high tech. My oldest is in Afghanistan and one of his buds went so far as to buy a match grade upper receiver. All of those were the personal choice of the soldier.

Years ago I heard that there had been a scientific study on the topic of Aggie jokes. According to that research there is no way you could know a thousand Aggie jokes. You see according to the study there is only ONE actual Aggie joke - the rest are all true stories.

I had picked up a book on the rules for all 50 states. When they talked about transporting across states that aren't carry friendly the advice was to have reservations (with print out) for the next state over. The problem, according to them, is that once you stop for an overnight you are no longer just passing through. That is what got the guy who had to overnight in NJ due to flight delays.

Thanks to both of you for the kind thoughts. Fortunately he has been trained well and is surrounded by highly competent and focused troops.

If you see a sort of short 1LT over there with a Fargason nametape and a 1st ID patch, tell Josh he owes you an ice cream and I will pay him back when he comes home. Yeah I know it is a big country, but weirder things have happened. Stay safe.

Sorry I missed it. Hope you had a good one, and as an apology, have an extra ice cream at the mess hall on me.

I read the letter and was kinda OK with it, until I read that we should outlaw the sport bikes. I agree that there are some riders out there that give all bikers a bad name, but I don't want the government deciding what kind of bike or muffler I should have.

Thanks all, we got in some riding before the storm hit, but even though the ice is about gone, there is too much sand/other crap on the road to ride just yet.

I have been reading ebooks for a bit over two years. A lot of the really good sites have been mentioned, but for sci-fi folks, Baen publishing is great. Their books are about the cheapest and they have a lot of them for free. They do a monthly webscription where they bundle 4 to 6 books for $15. It is not like the old record club where you had to buy something every month either. The website is: http://www.webscription.net/

I came here to find out their secret plans for world dominion too. I hope they use something better than Timmies though the next time.

Last week I was doing a job at Ft Knox, Kentucky. I was shocked to see visible proof of a Canadian plot to undermine the US Army. Not sure which traitor has allowed them to sell Tim Horton's on a US base instead of Dunkin Donuts like we all know God intended.
