Gray Ghost replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
I liked it to. But you owe me a beer because I usually pick mammals over insects. -
I have one (of course I moved it to the RV while the RSV is down). Considering I came out of hitting an SUV pretty hard with just a dime sized bit of road rash on one arm (wearing T-shirt) and some bruises I think it is working pretty good.

I talked to him, he was about 40 miles away. He has a place for the night.

The one thing that caused us grief for awhile was the security settings on the router. It all has to match exactly.

Guess there are somethings Don doesn't share with us. (pic taken in Selma Texas)

Statistics finally caught up with me. On the 21st I was riding in Kerrville TX and a young woman pulled out of a parking lot in front of me to go the other direction. Didn't have much time, pretty sure I hit the Stebel horn (at least that is what I remember) and tried to turn out of her way hoping she would stop. Ended up catching her SUV on the bumper, the bike skidded into the vehicle and I left a nice dent in her door with my shoulder. Bike ended up facing back the way I came. As I was picking myself up off the ground she opened the door and said she didn't see me. After I screamed at her about hearing the horn she said she hadn't and got back in her car. I think she may have been a bit afraid of me at that point. EMTs transported me, a wrecker company took my bike and her SUV. The bumper was pushed sideways and back into the tire making it undrivable. I am sore, but on my way back to Georgia in my RV. I think my baby is toast though.

I was a military child, and now three of my sons have followed the family trade in the Army. Things change so the ability of your son to have access to mail, internet, etc will probably be greater than that experienced by those of us who went through basic some time ago. Most kids today use facebook, and it is a great way to keep up with them when they are away, even in the military. My oldest is currently in Afghanistan and while I love to hear his voice, I mainly get to chat and communicate back and forth on facebook. Seeing the photos he posts is a treat as well. Did the same thing when the other two were deployed. It is understandable to be concerned over his safety. It is a dangerous occupation. But there are dangers in everything we do and at least your son has voluntarily chosen to take those risks in service to others. In my mind those are the ones who make this country as good as it is.

Annie, I am just getting back on the forum, wasn't on for ANZAC day. Wanted to post this link from a blog I follow. I think you will enjoy seeing how some of our military feel about the ANZACs. http://www.blackfive.net/main/2011/04/the-anzac-day-tradition-lest-we-forget.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Blackfive+%28BLACKFIVE%29. So, belatedly, on behalf of my great-uncle who was a veteran of WWI, my father and uncles who were WWII vets, my oldest brother who is a Vietnam vet, and myself and three of my sons who are Iraq/Afghanistan vets, thanks to all of you Aussies for your support in our endeavors. Experiences with this GPS RAM Mount ?
Gray Ghost replied to bamico's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I have used that type mount for a Lowrance 500C and for a Garmin 765 (with appropriate adapters). The Lowrance 500C is a very heavy GPS. I only had a problem one time with the Lowrance and it was because I had used the mount so much the weight caused the clip to break. If I had to start all over with getting a GPS mount, I would get the same item I have now. -
Might be off the bike for a while...............

Sorry to hear about your problems Lewis. If you do decide to go to a chiropractor at some time but don't have one you normally go to, we go to a fellow biker that has an office over by Cycle City. Let us know if there is anything we can do. Cliff -
Sorry to hear about this. It is really difficult to lose a parent physically, but you will find that they are still with you in a way. I find that when I am on a long ride by myself it seems that my Mom or my Dad go with me. I hope that you find peace in the situation soon.

LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Gray Ghost replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
One of the things that Custom Dynamics told me that if you run the 4-ways for a long time with load equalizers that you run the risk of burning out the equalizer. I have decided to stick with the fast flash, besides, I like the idea of gaining back a little power. Added note: If the equalizers don't come with instructions I would call the company. One thing I like about using CD is that they have great customer service. -
LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
Gray Ghost replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just swapped out all my turn signals and tail light for LEDs from Custom Dynamics. I ordered the GEN200-Y-KIT from http://www.customdynamics.com/yamaha_turn_signal_retro.htm. White in front, dynamic clusters in the rear, and the metric signal stabilizer instead of load equalizer. I have checked the radio with the new signal lights and there is no static. Not sure if they compare with driving lights yet. The only downside is that while the four ways work great, flashing on just one side flashes fast. The tech support told me that some of the RSVs and RSTDs have that problem. Adding a load equalizer or signal stabilizer to the front might or might not cure it. So I am going to let them flash fast for now. I
