I figure that most of the jabs, pokes, and digs would be confined to one forum if that new forum was named "Bashing Bubber". The only threads full of jabs, pokes, and digs seem to be those started by our friend Bubber. And speaking of Bubber; why are you looking for new speakers for your bike when you're gonna it everywhere? :stickpoke: :rotf:

My bike is out of warranty now so I'm considering a Dyna-3000. Some of you have a Dyna-3000 on your RSV, so how do you like it? Was it worth the money? An inquiring mind wants to know?

Horsepower And Torque Chart RSV vs RK

In your opinion, is the Dyna-3000 worth the money? Do you get any additional performance or improved fuel economy? -
Ideally, you need a barbed union to extend the formed fuel hose from the fuel filter to the pump intake. The pump intake is where you'll use the the brass fittings. I didn't have a barbed union so I relocated my fuel filter and used a few inches of "new" fuel hose. This made putting the side cover back on very difficult which is why I recommend the barbed union. Here's a link to a post made by "Ponch" that has nice photos. These photos were invaluable to me: http://venturerider.org/forum/showth...ump#post381479

You'll also need a 90 and 45 degree brass fittings and a barbed fitting.

I'm not Dave, but I just did this a week or so ago on my 06 RSV. The blue wire should be spliced to the red wire and black to black.

You guys may want to check out this link for speakers: NEW Boss CH4220 4-Inch 2-Way CAR Speakers Pair FastShip on eBay! OB-1 is not responsible for the results of using the link listed above unless the results are good to great and then OB-1 will gladly accept all credit and praise. Bad results, if any, are always Bubber's fault...:stirthepot::rotf:

Hey Bubber! Maybe you should consider a second Venturerider account using a different screen name so you can get answers to your questions instead of comments on your age and abilities, or lack thereof...:rotf: We still have the stock speakers in our RSV. We bought the J&M head-sets when we got the bike and thus use the head-set speakers almost exclusively. Back in the 80's I used a cheap 100-watt amplifier through two equally cheap 4-inch speakers on my XS-1100 Venture and it worked well enough for me. It was certainly better than no tunes or a boom box bungee corded to the tank, but I can't claim it was good quality audio. BTW, don't bungee cord a boom box to the tank of a Harley unless you want a rattling box of non-working parts after a couple hours of riding. Don't ask me how I know this...

Strange situation on bike today
OB-1 replied to WAC1972's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Long distance troubleshooting isn't an exact science, but based upon what you've said, the problem sounds like lack of fuel flow. What doesn't add up is the gas smell. I don't see how you could have an over-powering gas smell without a leak or without flooding the engine to the extreme. An intermittent fuel pump could cause all your symptoms except the gas smell. I just realized that your bike isn't and RSV, so I don't know if where you can mount the Mr Gasket fuel pump. On an RSV, the fuel pump is accessed by pulling the left side cover under the riders seat. I don't know where the fuel pump is located on the RSTC. -
Strange situation on bike today
OB-1 replied to WAC1972's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
The bike can run on gravity fuel feed if you bypass the fuel pump. This is good to get you home or to the dealer but of little use to you now. The fuel pumps will run for around 10-seconds when the key and kill switch are first turned on. At this point the pump is apparently on a timer. The pump will be continuously energized, and hopefully running, when the engine is running or cranking. These pumps use two solenoid coils to actuate a plunger in a push-pull fashion to pump fuel. The coils are energized/de-energized by plunger activated contacts on the end of the pump. You can remove a screw and pull the end cover off the pump and see the contacts. Pump operation can become intermittent as the contacts wear. The vibration of the bike actually helps the contacts make electrical connection once the contacts become worn. This also makes diagnosing an intermittent pump more fun. Yes, you can use an aftermarket fuel pump. Mr. Gasket model #42S works great and costs less than $50 at most auto-parts stores. You will also need a 90 and a 45 degree brass fittings and a barbed hose fitting to screw into the end of the pump. You may also need a foot of fuel hose and barbed union to mate the fuel line from the filter to the pump input. These pumps are made for an in-line screw in filter, but that will not be needed. You'll also need a couple of butt-splices for the wiring. I just did this to my bike last week. Here's a link to a post made by "Ponch" that has nice photos. Glad you guys made it tween the deer! Fortunately for us, the severe winter, which still seems to be hanging on, really dropped our deer population. But there's still some out there just waiting for an inattentive biker...

You don't mind riding gravel roads, do ya?

Now if you can only get here... :rotf:

Gettin' kinda whiny in your old age, ain't ya? :rotf: I guess we'll need to feed ya a steak dinner if ya get this far just to keep the whining to a minimum...

No problem, I won't tell a soul...:whistling::rotf: By the way, shouldn't this be part of your signature now?:rotf:

At least if ya left the car an trailer at my house you could pretend you rode all the way to Cody. A 5-6 hour ride ought to be enough to wear out you're old hide so everyone there would think you made the whole ride on the bike. :rotf: Of course I'd never tell anyone that you trailered the bike to my house...
-
Congratulations!

Sure, Bubber, blame it on your wife... You can leave your car/trailer at our house if you want. We're just a few miles north of I-90. It's 5-6 hour ride from here to Cody.

Congratulations! If we knew how much fun Grand-kids are, we'd have had them first.
