Actually, if the truth be told, which is very rare around here, the Midnight is the best, fastest, and most reliable model! BTW; I didn't hear any unusual noises in either of your recordings, and no, the valves don't need to be adjusted yet. I believe the book calls for an adjustment at 28,000 miles.

Here's another link: Deleted by OB-1... The Venturerider.org software keeps changing the link And here's one for road status: http://home.nps.gov/applications/glac/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm We'll be at Glacier in just over a month. Sure hope they have the road open by then... Those folks sure have a lot of snow!

I fixed your post for you Bubber. Must be a software issue on your end...:rotf:

You ride an old worn out 1st Gen, so catching you should be easy...:rotf: Besides, you have to stop for gas sometime!

As Sqiudley & Eagleeye have said, steering head bearings and tire pressure. After that it would be something loose. A loose, broken, or missing bolt that secures the saddle bags or trunk can also cause a wobble. Loose steering head bearings are the most likely cause of your wobble and they don't have to be very loose to cause problems. Somewhere on this website is a detailed procedure for check and tightening the sterring head bearings without disassembling the front end.

I recall pumping gas at a service station for $0.25 a gallon and getting paid a whole $1.15 an hour to do it. I also recall $0.50 a can beer in the beer machine in Squadron Day Room in my early USAF days.

Keep your chin up and keep putting one foot in front of the other and God will get you through this. As for cracking jokes; just remember that you can always start a joke at Bubber's expense. He's not the Rodney Dangerfield of Ventureider.com for nothing, ya know!:rotf:

These pumps, at least on the 06 RSV, are solenoid pumps so there are no brushes. There are a pair of plunger activated contacts on the end of the pump that are accessible by removing one screw. Cleaning these contacts may help, but don't count on it. Cleaning mine made no improvement in the intermittent failure. IMHO; the best course of action is to replace the pump with the Mr Gasket model 42-S or equivalent pump.

how many miles with no valve adjustment??
OB-1 replied to kyle's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My dealer told me it was in the $600-$800 range. I forget what they said the book time was, but it's a lot of labor. It's not difficult, but it is very time consuming. -
Congratulations and I pray you have many, many, many more years together! PS. Watch out for this guy, "this charismatic younger man" he can be trouble!

Can I ask for a few prayers?

Engine Compression and Performance
OB-1 replied to Bobby G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
As others have already said, our RSV's like higher RPM's. These engines have rev-limiters so don't be afraid to run the RPM's up; you're not going to hurt anything and these engines really come alive at higher RPM's! The only downside to running 80mph is fuel economy. The mpg on our bike drops to 32-30mpg when I set the cruise control on 80mph, (actual). -
And one of those small things that makes life worth living is giving Bubber a hard time!:rotf:

I've used Centramatics on a big truck and a Ford Excursion. In both instances they did provide some level of additional balancing, but they didn't live up to the "hype" in my opinion.

For what little it's worth; I had an Avon Venom on the rear of my bike for approximately 5k-miles with no sidewall cracking. Unfortunately, the tire got punctured from road debris. It's also time for a new front so I'm going back with E-3's. I got the pair from Motorcycle Superstore for $275.98 delivered.

I think you're on to something there! It appears that Bubber has a 1st Gen engine in his truck so then he would need a 2nd Gen to push it!:rotf: And all this time time we just thought Bubber was gettin' old and hard of hearing...:rotf:

The way Bubber's been acting:mytruck1: I think you have some serious competition!:rotf:
