I tried something like this in back 1981 with an FLH. I made it a whole 10 feet before the trailer hitch bent like a wet noodle. This sort of thing would take a very beefy hitch and bumper to handle a bike the size of a Venture.

I replaced my rear pads at 28,000 miles and the front pads still look very good.

I wonder if "he" cares now? Hopefully you won't have to deal with a lawsuit. Just remember that this can come back to haunt you if you're involved in another physical altercation within the next few years.

You mightg try the Devil's Tower KOA. Here's alink to their website: http://www.devilstowerkoa.com/ There is also a Mom & Pop campground just south of the tower with a great views. Good luck finding something as most campgrounds get fully booked around rally time. You might find a spot at Key Hole State Park and there's an RV park in Pine Haven, WY that might have a couple of tent spaces. You can also camp in the Black Hills National Forrest, but this means gravel roads and not much in the way of services. We live in this area but we'll be heading to Oregon during rally time. Too many stupid people doing stupid things with too much noise for us. Good Luck, be careful, and have fun!

I suspect the cop on medical leave will soon be unemployed and may even face fraud charges and the Trooper may also be seeking other employment. That kind of speed on an Ohio Interstate is way beyond bad judgement. The same speed on a deserted interstate out west here wouldn't be wise, but they'd only endanger themselves. Just imagine hitting a deer or antelope at that speed.

Do you recall what any of the Harley's did? -
Riding with no air should not have damaged the shock and not every shock dies an early death...so your shock is probably still okay:080402gudl_prv:

I assume you're joking about sneaking the pistol through Canada, but incase you’re not, the likelihood of getting caught at one end or the other is high and the penalties are steep these days. Big Boy Rules apply. You should consider hitting Bear-Tooth Pass and Chief Joseph Parkway while in the Yellowstone area. The file below may give you some additional ideas.

Yep, the 2nd Gen will pull the front wheel. I pulled a short wheelie two years ago gettin' away from a buffalo in Custer State Park.

Leave your pistol at home if you're planning on going into Canada. Why all the interstate? There's lots of good and very scenic 2-lane all through your intended route. How many days are you planning on?

The actual letter was written by Lt. Col. Pleus, not Rosensteel.
-
Here's a link to the original story & letters: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/wakeup.asp The guy that made the original noise complaint also wrote an apology. And, as with most emailed stories, the Col's letter was added to by someone that just couldn't leave the truth alone. The last two lines, "Only 2 defining forces have ever offered to die for you....Jesus Christ and the American Soldier. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.", were not part of the Col's letter. The actual letter was written by Lt. Col. Pleus, not Rosensteel.

I made the switch from eat’n bugs on a custom Harley to a fully dressed Yamaha XS-1100 back in 81 and I ain’t going back to being a bug eater. I get enough wind in the face, bungee cords, rocks and bugs when we load up the ATV’s. But to each their own. If you like wind in your face, along with bugs, rocks, & rain, and the lack of creature comforts, then by all means make yourself happy with a stripped down bike. I must admit that most of those stripped down bikes look really fine sitting on the showroom floor, but that style of riding isn’t for me.

I ordered a pair of Dunlop Elite III's last Thursday evening and they were delivered on Wed. Not bad considering where I live.

MAINEAC: Last year you were running a CT. Why the change back to MC tires? I'm putting an Elite III on the rear of my bike tonight. I got 10,000 miles out of the Michelin Commander I put on last year after trying a CT. The front Commander still looks good and ought give me another 3000 or so miles.

How much does a custom seat like this cost?
-
I tried a CT last year and went back to a MC tire. A CT doesn't work on my Venture.

We ride Beartooth & Chief Joseph at least once a season. We may not be able to ride in the winter, but we do what we can to make up for it when the snow goes away! Take warm wind-proof riding clothes, a camera, and don't be in a hurry. The scenery is stunning. You will likely find some rocks and gravel on the road. The road is usually open by early June.

Natural gas is convenient, but it is sometimes turned off or unavailable after a natural disaster like a hurricane or tornado. After Katrina, the idiot mayor of New Orleans order all natural gas shut off even in areas that had intact gas lines. Areas affected by tornados often have gas supplies shut off due to line breaks at building entrances.

We need to make this post a "sticky" too! Another woman admits a mistake in writing! The world must be coming to an end soon.:rotf: I hope the van repairs aren't too costly... -
