Hi I repainted mine last winter and did base / clear and had a little over $600 in materials alone, but that was a 4 color paint job. Check out my photo gallery. But the newer eurothane based clear holds up so much better than the lacquer based products, its easy to sand and buff, wont yellow and is more durable. You could get away a lot cheaper in a single color or just a 2 tone. Do it once and do it right and you will never have to do it again. Paul

The R6 is a cool bike but the R1 is just a screamer. Rode them both when I was selling Yamaha's years ago. The take off on both is just scary but the R1 you better hold on when you snap that throttle. Paul

Hi I might be interested! How loud is too loud, I am kind of looking for something a little louder for my bike and my mufflers are in good shape. I am getting ready to walk out the door right now. I will pm you when i get home this afternoon. Paul

I thought he may be like that big biker with the long hair on the shampoo commercial.

Yeah its a great time we were also at one at the flats in cleveland several years ago. There is also going to be one again it Scranton Pa. again this year and it looks like it will be the weekend of August 31 ( they held one last year in scranton that was put on by the same people and was also a great time) I got an email from the promoter saying that there might be one also in cleveland just a one day event on May 31st but definetly one in Scranton. Yeah we have been hitting this for the last couple years and it is just a great time. And like I said it keeps getting better every year. You guys are actually fairly close being in Cincinatti. I want to take the bike and the wife says car but we have a few months to argue this one out hopefully in my favor. Paul

If so you have to go to Abbey Road on the River in Louisville Kentuky over Memorial day. Its a 5 day event with Beatle bands from all over the world. This event keeps getting better and better every year. Here is the link to the website http://www.abbeyroadontheriver.com/ There is also The Muhamad Ali museum, The Louisvill Slugger bat museum and 6 flags park (the wife still likes the roller coasters) so there is a lot to do in the Louisville area. Check it out, Paul

I am wondering if the spot weld on his baffle broke loose in his exhaust collector. Before I fixed mine it sounded like something was knocking or rattling in the bottom end of the motor just at certain places on the throttle and mostly on deceleration I had noticed it. I would check the collector. With mine I could hear it at certain times playing with the throttle while in neutral and I took my boot and pushed up on the bottom of the collector with my toe and it quieted down enough to realize that it was the source of the noise. You can find the way to pull it off and fix it here on the forum. Paul

If you part it out I would be interested in the Chrome fender trim and flap for the front fender. I would also be interested in the drivers boards and backrest but I see I am a little late on those 2 pieces as someone beat me to asking about them. Let me know, Paul

Or the spring for the kick stand?
-
It looks to me like the spring that holds the end of the muffler to the muffler itself. At least that is the sort of spring that is on both of mine. The end slips on the back of the muffler and the spring is on the top side holding it to the muffler. At least thats the first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture. It also looks like the spring on my Yamaha Big Bear that is on the back of the bar that goes to the rear brakes. Paul

After watching the Green Bay game I am starting to believe. Brett looked good the defense looked outstanding (they could make an entire highlite film out of some of those hits). I say its GB and NE in the superbowl. Dallas had their shot but it looks like the curse of YOKO ROMO even if she wasnt at the game yesterday the damage had already been done. (yeah lets take a trip to Mexico instead of getting ready for the playoffs) It looks like he now has the whole off season to play hide the sausage, but my guess is she will be gone by spring and he will be saying I blew my shot at the Superbowl for that. Its a tough decision I know cause she is so hot, but he could of had 4 superhot lookalike dallas groupies and wouldnt even have had to leave the stadium. What a boob:rotf: Paul

I have been seriously thinking of getting a Ural or Dnepr (old bmw military knockoff with a sidecar) as a second bike. as you can do a little offroading with them and there are a lot of dirt roads by our camp up in the mountains near Wellsboro. I think they would be a lot of fun and parts for them are very accessable. Paul

I personally have owned 3 Harleys and let me tell you something. I will never and I mean never go back to a v-twin (Harley). They are still living on the myth that they are the all American answer to any other bike in the world and far superior as well (you gotta be kidding). My Venture is 21 years old and runs like a beast. Take a 21 year old Harley from the factory without touching anything and tell me why they are so superior (they are not by no means). All American yeah maybe about 70% the rest of the parts come from overseas. Then comes the price thing and you will hear guys say "you get what you pay for" which is definetly not true in the case of HD. Sure if you wait long enough they might catch up to the Jap technology but why pay 1/3 more for that because of a name which is what it comes down to. If you want vibration and noise pull the collector off and go with straight pipes and take one plug wire off:rotf: and if you miss the wind in your face put a stubby shield on for the times you feel like eating bugs. It doesnt matter what you ride as long as you ride, but the days of being looked down on by HD owners is over as it was all hype and ego to begin with for less than a superior product. Sure they make a decent bike but not for the money and they definetly dont stand up to the hype that comes with them at any price. Paul thats my 2 cents:stirthepot: like it or not

Put on 125 miles today and it was just beautiful, must have seen 30-40 bikes out today. Main roads and hiways were perfect and some of the secondary roads still had some gravel and cinders built up on some parts of the road that you had to be careful on. But I wish it would happen again like that tomorrow but it looks like rain and colder temps starting to head back in. It was a nice break to get to ride in Jan. but I hope it wont be the last until spring. Paul

Jan 8th today and the sun is out and is 60 degrees and the snow is gone (for now). I pulled the bike out and fired it up and I am on my way out the door to put some miles on. You gotta love global warming:scorched: Paul

The turnovers and sacks killed the Steelers, but if you look at the stats for the game the jags were totally outplayed. All in all it was a great game and now the steelers have all off season to fix their offensive line which has been terrible the second half of the season. You have to go into the post season healthy and thats one thing the steelers couldnt do this season starting second and third string guys. But I am just a pissed of Steelers fan this morning (but they beat themselves just like most of their losses this season). I would like to see the Jags keep it up but there is no way they beat the colts next week playing the game that they played last night. 150 yards passing and 50 yards on the ground will not beat the Colts (havent seen the exact numbers this morning but I am close) They will need to step it up quite a bit and I just dont think they have it in them to beat the colts in Indy. GO COLTS!!!!!

I used Plastic Welder which I bought at Walmart. The stuff is great I used it to fix and repair cracks and broken tabs and also where the pouch mounts to the fairing. There was a piece missing there and filled it with the 2 part plastic welder sanded and painted and no one would ever know. When i fixed a few of the tabs on the fairing you could pick up the whole fairing section by the new tab but would never be able to do that with the factory tab as it would snap. I have used it since for a bunch of other stuff as well since and the stuff is hard to beat. and it is under $3 at Walmart. Check it out you wont be dissapointed. Paul

I was going to do the same thing a while back and was talked out of it and decided to go with an mp3 player as it is half the size of a pack of smokes and holds a couple thousand songs where a 10 disck changer will give you 120-150 songs and take up half of your trunk or saddle bag. I removed my casette player put on a blank cover, put a piece of velcro to hold the mp3 player in place, and installed a switch and cable I bought though one of the members and bada bing I have over 2000 songs sitting on my dash and a flip of the switch takes it from the radio to the mp3 player. Then just unplug the mp3 player and put it in the trunk when stopped. Just a thought before you give up a pile of trunk space. Paul

Dave, that looks like a 2nd gen windshield. Is it cut on the bottom so it fits your bike? I looked at the pics of your bike and I see the same style on yours so I am guessing that it is cut to fit the first gen. I f thats the case pm me and let me know what you want for it and I will send you the funds right away. I am not so worried about the bolts and the metal trim as it will be painted to match the bike and I will just remove them and fill the holes before paint. Talk to you soon and have a great holiday, Paul

Yeah I figured I could find one on ebay but figured I would try here first as someone might have something laying around out in the shop or garage. Dave thanks and let me know. I want it to be a nice shorty that only comes up a couple inches past the height of the dash, for when it is middle of summer and hot (back to bugs in my teeth). In the spring and fall when its a little cooler I will put my stock shield back on. Thanks again, Paul
