  1. Happy birthday Evan.
  2. Most of the ride west of Winnipeg Manitoba is pretty boring until you get into Alberta on the main route.
  3. Have you checked the boot for the drive shaft? If your middle gear seal is gone, you will get a leak like that too. check the differential rubber covers too.Good luck with finding your leak.
  4. I have ridden a big displacement V twin and I love them.Low revs , big torque and lots of power.I guess we will have to see how people will react to them. No one likes change. The price is ridiculous right now.I would wait a couple of years and buy a used one. Why are there Harley followers? They love the product. This is not Yamaha's first attempt at a big V twin bike.I really do like like it.I hope we can hear from the test riders. Ray
  5. I rebuilt a few slaves. As Bob says, as long as there in no pitting you will be fine. You can not take too much off when you sand it down. I do have a couple of spares I keep. Good luck. Ray.

  7. I have a Ventureline seat with backrest.I will sell cheap if anyone is interested.PM me .thanks.
  8. Depending on your distance and finances you should buy another battery. Keep it as a spare and when your dies switch it.
  9. Hi.You may be able to track one down on Ebay. I had the same problem with my 86 and actually rebuilt the switch and springs.I cleaned up the contacts and remelted the plastic so it would work fine.I never had a problem after. One of the contacts are high current. Good luck with it.
  10. I took apart a speedo once from an 86 Venture that showed speed but no mileage. There are gears in the speedo that run the mileage counter. One side of it was worn out. There seemed no way to fix it aside from completely disassembling it.Just thought I would throw that out if it meant something.
  11. Sorry to see her go.I had to let one of mine go too.I was not riding her anymore and was burning insurance money.Good luck to you on finding a new job too.
  12. Sorry for your loss.
  13. I had a Honda St1100.That was a nice little sports touring bike.Fast, easy to handle and real easy on parts. My recent bike is a FJR1300. Great bike and lots of power.Handles like a dream and not buzzy at all.Easy on parts too.Motors are bullet proof.I sold my Venture recently.
  14. I have a Yamaha FJR1300 and other 86 Venture I will put back together and sell.
  15. I pretty much got it this way.It had some issues that I fixed and added and customized her to death.I added LED lighting everywhere. Before she goes I will take a video and show you.Sad to see her go, but not riding her anymore.
  16. With sadness I sold my 86 Venture. She is going to a new home now and the guy that bought her loves her.It was love at first site for him.
  17. I had the same problems with my controller.I never cursed at something so much until i discovered something.I had a bad harness connector to the back of my main controller.I snipped the wires and put on another one from a donor unit and have not had a problem since.I have a spare complete pump system if you want it and will pay for shipping from Canada.
  18. Congrats Carl.!!!
  19. There has been lots of good advice about your repairs and bike. The market on the bikes are soft right now.I have a bought a few Ventures over the years.I ride them and then sell more often for less then I paid for them.I have sold many parts and have given much away.I once bought a bike for some parts and sold it for more then what I paid for it parted out.Good luck and I hope you get at least one running.
  20. So sorry to hear about this Bob.Just take it easy and read your body. If it becomes unbearable it might be time to see a doc.Prayers are with you Bob. Take care.
  21. With sadness I have to say my mother of 90 years passed aways quietly yesterday. She was a great person and parent.I can only hope i can live that long.
  22. I have an FJR and a Venture. They are two different animals. The FJR is a great around bike.Easy to ride and very responsive. The venture is slow and comfy. It depends on how you want to ride. FJR1300 can ride all day in the rain with no worries. If you are looking for a change, it is a good bike to explore.
  23. I had some plastic pieces from a Venture I used to melt down and build up the cavity. It was tedious but i got it done. It is in my bike still and works fine. This part is very hard to find so i rebuilt mine. There is lots of current on the contact.I think that is why it melts.
  24. I am not sure how bad your switch is but I managed to rebuild mine. I cleaned the tabs and rebuilt the plastic. Both cruise and brake work fine. The switch without the cruise is not the same.
  25. HI Dusty. I am in Mississauga.I have a plethora of Venture parts in my shop you are welcome too.I have an 86 I am rebuilding as well. PM me and maybe I can help you with a part. Paysaw.
