I have been brake doing maintenance on my 83 VR.I changed my front pads and changed my fluid. No problem with that part. I changed my rear Brake pads ,drained my fluids and bled my system. It was working but now I have no rear brakes. I undid my Rear bleeder and did a reverse bleed with a fluid pump I had figuring I had an air bubble or something.Filled the rear reservoir too .I took the caliper off and inspected it.I pushed on my break pedal and there was no pad movement.I losened the rear bleeder on caliper and pushed the bake break. No fluid movement. When I take the bleeder out I can see fluid in the chamber. Could there be a problem with my rear master cylinder?Anybody have ideas or have I just missed something? Thanks all. Ray

Well I checked and the leak happens after a run.It seems to be coming from under the or near the middle gear cover. Thanks for the insite.I am going to attempt to order the parts from my dealer. When I talk about my bike to them , they give me funny looks.Does anyone know if there is a kit I can buy online for this problem.? Thanks all.

Muffler for 83 venture
paysaw replied to paysaw's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hi All.I checked and the muffler broke near the collector flang. I took it to a welder today and he says he can fix it.The bikes in pretty good shape and my pipes are mint.If he cant save it, I will put the word out and try to buy a pair from one of you kind people. I am abit pissed because I lent my bike to a guy to take a test ride on it last year and he popped a wheelie and it came down hard.I think thats what cracked the pipe. Make sure you dont lend your bike out to idiots.... -
I was out running my VR83 and stopped for ice cream,When I came out I noticed an oil leak under my bike.My bike never leaked anything.I did not think about it untill I got home.As soon as I turned it off,oil poured out from the middle of the kick stand area.It stopped after a few secs.I started it and it did not leak at all.Turned it off and leaked repeated its self.I have not investigated yet.Does anyone have any ideas where I should be looking? Thanks all....Ray:confused:

Repair 8 Pin Amp/Radio Connector @ Wire Harness
paysaw replied to Vonwolf's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Here is another way you could do it.If you have an old scrap computer laying around open it up and there are molex connectors sets used as power connections to the hard drives and such. Use a couple sets of them to replace the one molex that is broken in your 87:clap2:.Make sure to polorize the connectors so you know wich one goes where. Just splice into the connectors, solder and finish with heat shrink.A very cheap solution. -

I took out my cassette deck from my 83VR and made a multiple access port for Ipods and GPS.I put a resister accross one of my inputs as to not have the aux swamped by the different impedances of the units. It seems to work. -

speedometer - 83' standard
paysaw replied to DesertRider's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
There are two types of operations that go on in a Venture speedo. The cable drives a gear system that is calibrated by revolutions to give you distance . It is also connected to a calibrated D"arsenval movement system(The arm on a speedo). If the speedo system part fails, you will still get odometer readings. -
I am glad you got to tell about your accident. You sound like a good driver. This is one of those events that you need insurance.Take care and ride safe.

I fixed mine.I tore it apart and just cleaned it.It works great now.Hint: Never do this after having a fight with the wife.you will never get it back together......LOL

I have an 83.It had similar problems. Some of my buttons did not work on my radio controller. I tore apart an old cassette deck I had and replaced the surface mount buttons I took from my deck to solve the problem.I took the radio module out ,cleaned my pins and losened the connectors to adjust for a better pin seat.I have no cut out and my radio works great. If your display is wierd that for sure is the problem.I dont have a radio, but I do have controller parts.Let me know how you do.
