  2. You may have a stuck button. The only way to program the clock is when the bike is running. If you haver a stuck clock button the clock would act like this. The only other way to check this is to pull the cluster and pull out the clock.Check the connections and see if something is stuck or rusted. I will check my 83 and see what would happen if I held a program button in. Cheers and good Luck.. Paysaw:fingers-crossed-emo
  3. I did not take the advice of the weatherman today and went for a ride with my neighbour Kevin. We took a ride with his brother, and Kevins two brotherinlaws to a small town called Mansfield Ontario.Kevin took us through his endless supply and twisty and interesting roads. We stopped in Mansfield and had a bite to eat.( No icecream)My old bike played nice with all the newer chrome.....Paysaw:Venture:
  4. Are the engine side panels interchangable between the 83 and 85 venture? If so what are the differences. Thanks all.
  5. Hi.Did you try to boost it with your car battery? if so, see if it turns over slowly. If it does you could have starter problems. When you boost it with the car battery, if it is still slow, STOP immediately.Check the connections to your starter relay located on the left front of bike near the battery connections.Check the voltage on your battery before starting. It should read about 12.5 volts or so.I had the same problems as you and I just changed my battery. If you have not trickle charged your battery when not in use, you can kill it sometimes.I am sure other people will jump in here to help .Good luck and keep us posted.
  6. It was a pleasure meeting you Ben and Abdul.Kevin and Bob said they enjoyed your company and I will tell him you liked his part of the ride.I am sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with the other VR guys but I am sure we will meet up on a ride or social gathering soon.I got about 400kms in that day. It was a Fabulous day with a great bunch of people .Lets do it next year with more people. Paysaw:Venture:
  7. I had a great time.Met up Chabichecka and Saddlebum. We left Burlington Timmys with two buds of mine and did a nice long ride to Dover. Saddlebum did an ace clutch repair along the way. When we arrived,Ben walked with us for a bit and Abdul dissappeared into the crowd. Ask Ben about the tiolet paper.Sorry I missed you other Ventureriders. I went to the fence at Timmys and everything.:cry:Till next year. Paysaw:guitarist 2:

  9. Where is the Timmys where you meet? Anyone coming from Toronto or Mississauga? We could ride together.......
  10. I read all the tech notes and now I understand how it works.I pulled my rear master just to check and see if it was fine.It has no probs and looks like it may have been rebuilt a few years ago. What I did not realize is that the front and rear system are symbionic.Once the systems are closed, air is out you get pressure. That is why the proceedure.I will use my pump and be methodic about my bleeding now. Thanks for the help for making me understand how this breaking system works.
  11. I have been brake doing maintenance on my 83 VR.I changed my front pads and changed my fluid. No problem with that part. I changed my rear Brake pads ,drained my fluids and bled my system. It was working but now I have no rear brakes. I undid my Rear bleeder and did a reverse bleed with a fluid pump I had figuring I had an air bubble or something.Filled the rear reservoir too .I took the caliper off and inspected it.I pushed on my break pedal and there was no pad movement.I losened the rear bleeder on caliper and pushed the bake break. No fluid movement. When I take the bleeder out I can see fluid in the chamber. Could there be a problem with my rear master cylinder?Anybody have ideas or have I just missed something? Thanks all. Ray
  12. We any of you have any Venturerider swag on?

  16. What is RTV and where do I get it?
  17. Thanks for your help Brian,
  18. Well I checked and the leak happens after a run.It seems to be coming from under the or near the middle gear cover. Thanks for the insite.I am going to attempt to order the parts from my dealer. When I talk about my bike to them , they give me funny looks.Does anyone know if there is a kit I can buy online for this problem.? Thanks all.
  19. Hi All.I checked and the muffler broke near the collector flang. I took it to a welder today and he says he can fix it.The bikes in pretty good shape and my pipes are mint.If he cant save it, I will put the word out and try to buy a pair from one of you kind people. I am abit pissed because I lent my bike to a guy to take a test ride on it last year and he popped a wheelie and it came down hard.I think thats what cracked the pipe. Make sure you dont lend your bike out to idiots....
  20. I was out running my VR83 and stopped for ice cream,When I came out I noticed an oil leak under my bike.My bike never leaked anything.I did not think about it untill I got home.As soon as I turned it off,oil poured out from the middle of the kick stand area.It stopped after a few secs.I started it and it did not leak at all.Turned it off and leaked repeated its self.I have not investigated yet.Does anyone have any ideas where I should be looking? Thanks all....Ray:confused:
  21. I am 55.I have a low milage 83 vr 45k.I have been riding for 30 years plus.I got this last year.Love it...
  22. Hi.Does anyone have a set of OEM mufflers for an 83 VR. I went on a ride today and my right side mufflers broke at the collector flang. If there is a fix, can anyone tell me? Thanks all Ray.
  23. Nice Bike.I have the same bike and same colour.Mine runs like a monster.Welcome to the family/:guitarist 2:
  24. Here is another way you could do it.If you have an old scrap computer laying around open it up and there are molex connectors sets used as power connections to the hard drives and such. Use a couple sets of them to replace the one molex that is broken in your 87:clap2:.Make sure to polorize the connectors so you know wich one goes where. Just splice into the connectors, solder and finish with heat shrink.A very cheap solution.
