  2. I have been following this problem.I am glad to see so many get involved with this. There are great people here willing to help each other.
  3. Glad you got her solved!!!
  4. Hi.did you losen any of the banjo bolts on the front brakes? If you did you let air into your brake system.Your brakes may only need to be bled.
  5. Just throwing this out. Have you checked your fuel pump?Have you changed the filter.Look and see if it is clear.Do you smell excessive gas? What colour is your exhaust coming from the pipes?
  6. I agree with the airbox. My 83 does not run well with the airbox off.I only have it off to cehck sliders . When I put the airbox back on, it runs tops.Maybe the carbs need a controlled intake environoment.
  7. This could be a long shot, but your turn signals are connected through your 4 way flashers.Check and see if your 4 ways works. It could be in your 4 way switch.Try cleaning that switch too.
  8. I know the BMW are fantastic bikes.I know people who have them and love them. I love them too.Parts and service are costly. My bud pays $25.00 a pop a spark plug for his 2009 BMW. I love my Venture because it is quiet, very fast , and easy to maintain.
  9. Ride On!!!

  11. Well as you know, there are not many moving parts in a Harley...
  12. Hi.I have an 83 VR.I took my radio control apart. There is not much too it.I think 2 ball bearings and springs. The button alows the bearing to toggle the swtich.I think the ball makes the connections in the switch.its something like that.I will admit it is hard to put back together. You may only have to clean the inner terminals and put it back together.Good luck:fingers-crossed-emo
  13. Hi Don I wish I could help you.It is too bad you do not tinker with the bike. Most if not all of the fixes are in this forum. If the bike runs well, all you need is abit of money and time.I am sure someone will jump in here and help you.You have a great bike and it needs to have a rider. Ray:bluesbrother:
  14. Best of luck to you..

  17. You may have a stuck button. The only way to program the clock is when the bike is running. If you haver a stuck clock button the clock would act like this. The only other way to check this is to pull the cluster and pull out the clock.Check the connections and see if something is stuck or rusted. I will check my 83 and see what would happen if I held a program button in. Cheers and good Luck.. Paysaw:fingers-crossed-emo
  18. I did not take the advice of the weatherman today and went for a ride with my neighbour Kevin. We took a ride with his brother, and Kevins two brotherinlaws to a small town called Mansfield Ontario.Kevin took us through his endless supply and twisty and interesting roads. We stopped in Mansfield and had a bite to eat.( No icecream)My old bike played nice with all the newer chrome.....Paysaw:Venture:
  19. Are the engine side panels interchangable between the 83 and 85 venture? If so what are the differences. Thanks all.
  20. Hi.Did you try to boost it with your car battery? if so, see if it turns over slowly. If it does you could have starter problems. When you boost it with the car battery, if it is still slow, STOP immediately.Check the connections to your starter relay located on the left front of bike near the battery connections.Check the voltage on your battery before starting. It should read about 12.5 volts or so.I had the same problems as you and I just changed my battery. If you have not trickle charged your battery when not in use, you can kill it sometimes.I am sure other people will jump in here to help .Good luck and keep us posted.
  21. It was a pleasure meeting you Ben and Abdul.Kevin and Bob said they enjoyed your company and I will tell him you liked his part of the ride.I am sorry I did not get a chance to meet up with the other VR guys but I am sure we will meet up on a ride or social gathering soon.I got about 400kms in that day. It was a Fabulous day with a great bunch of people .Lets do it next year with more people. Paysaw:Venture:
  22. I had a great time.Met up Chabichecka and Saddlebum. We left Burlington Timmys with two buds of mine and did a nice long ride to Dover. Saddlebum did an ace clutch repair along the way. When we arrived,Ben walked with us for a bit and Abdul dissappeared into the crowd. Ask Ben about the tiolet paper.Sorry I missed you other Ventureriders. I went to the fence at Timmys and everything.:cry:Till next year. Paysaw:guitarist 2:
  23. Update.I bled the brakes in 25mins.Wow, knowledge is everything....
  24. Where is the Timmys where you meet? Anyone coming from Toronto or Mississauga? We could ride together.......
  25. I read all the tech notes and now I understand how it works.I pulled my rear master just to check and see if it was fine.It has no probs and looks like it may have been rebuilt a few years ago. What I did not realize is that the front and rear system are symbionic.Once the systems are closed, air is out you get pressure. That is why the proceedure.I will use my pump and be methodic about my bleeding now. Thanks for the help for making me understand how this breaking system works.
