    Also,Make sure you have another middle gear to do the replacement.If I think what is wrong you really can't put the drive shaft back.Put your fingers around the rubber boot.Feel for lose stuff.If you feel a lose nut and washer somewhere in that boot, the middle gear nut that holds the u-joint is broken.The pinion gear is freewheeling and making noise in the gear set.If this is the problem the only thing keeping the driveshaft in place is the pumpkin gear.The oil is coming from the shaft where the nut broke.

    Hi Frank I had to change my middle gear.It is abit of work.Put your finger in the boot.If you find a nut and a washer that would explain alot.If you have to pull the gear, the trick is how you get it out.Losen the top engine nut (split) to the inside of the engine.Get a screwdriver and gently pry the gear out.Go side to side.It will come out. Good luck and keep us posted. Also, remember shim placement.

    What works for me is layers.I have a great Motorcycle jacket with a zip out liner.When it gets cold,I wear another liner under that.It seems to keep me real toasty.I have a pair of thick winter thermo gloves and use my heated grips.I take off one of liners if needed when it warms up. A heated vest is a good thing if you dont want to wear layers but it sucks lots of power from the bike.

    Just remember if you have a wet battery to check the water level from time to time.The battery minder keeps your battery going and the battery is still very active.

    I bought an ST1100.Nice entry bike to this series.Not really big power but accellerates and handles like a dream.A very safe ride.Your St1300 is a great bike and you will like it.

    I just came off a big weekend of riding.I bought a Honda St1100 just for a change.There were about 8 of us in this group.The bikes varied from Harleys ,FJR1300 to 500CC Honda's.For the most part, we all stayed together and all rode hard through the straights and the twisty at our own comfort levels.It is a case of the rider having control of his bike.It was fun safe riding.Really, how fast do you really want to go? I want to come home to my loved ones!!:-)

    I just got back from a ride in PA.For those of you in southern Ontario that have not experience riding in PA ,the mountain roads are a pure delite.Take a weekend and explore them.

    I am going on a late summer ride to PA.my neighbour and is buds have organized a 1000k Ride.I am really looking forward to this.Staying at Gunner's in St Marys' on Saturday night.I hear there are great road out there.Anything I should look out for.I will post pics aftyer the ride.     I think you may have a cracked frame.It is hard to see the crack.It does not look like anything untill you take the swing arm off or know what you are looking for.With the 83 I had even with no air it sat fine with the centre and kick stands.It should be rideable with no air.I think the problem showed up when the air system went south.Please keep us posted.It is just a thought.
