Awesome bikes.My 84 has no real second gear.I just did 4600 kms. It pulled on the hills like a trouper.I have a good ol girl!!!!.One of my spark plugs blew outon the trip and just kept going. What a great bike!!!

There could be several problems. You are going to have to do some investigating to find out.There are forums and texts on what to do on here.

Hi Don I am glad your ride is going good.I happened to be in Espanola Ontario last week and overheard a conversation of Harley riders while eating dinner at my hotel.They had these big beautiful bikes parked in the front.They were discussing the next days road trip.I overheard one say that 4 hours was about all he could take in a stretch.Then time to shut it down for awhile.It put a grin my face. I just did 4600kms on my 84 last week going out east.

HI wayne I have 2 TCI units from 84 bikes,One I think is good and one is for parts.Let me know if you have issues.You can use my TCI as a tester.Good luck with her Wayne and post your results. Ray PS . I have 84 coil set too..

I had the similar noise happen to me on my way back from eastern Canada.When the noise got bad the speedo froze.It went away but I will lube it when I get a chance soon.

This is why I have a donor bike....It is my instant Ebay store...lol

I am having the same problem on my 84. I guess it is time to change the waterpump. Is it a big job?
