LOL...first off, I removed the badges...and that makes'em look shiny almost without any polishing. But normally, all I ever do is just wipe the bike down with a damp cloth. That's it, that's my secret (and good lighting).

OK...I get kidded about the "fringe" on my bike so I'm used to that...I gotta give people something to talk about. So...back to the cruise control. How does the leather lever covers effect the cruise (which I don't use anyway). Someone below mentioned about the brakes too. It's funny, because the levers I replaced also had leather covers with fringe...and not a single problem. Strange...so how am I gonna have trouble? Wally

Just got my ironbraid.com leather covered chrome plated levers installed today. They turned out great! I have the two toned 2009 Venture and so I had the leather braids done in cream and black...turned out really well. I also cleaned and lubed the clutch and brake while I had them off. Here are a couple of pictures, sorry about the quality, I used my iPhone (didn't want to break out the camera). By the way...what does the adjustment screw on the brake adjust? the brake light?

OK, I have done a search, but did not find the directions for REPLACING my clutch and brake levers. I just ordered a new set...chrome with leather braiding from Ironbraid.com. But the posts I found mostly discussed where to get them at online. My question...can someone explain how to change them out in PLAIN LANGUAGE. My wrench skills are weak...but I'm willing to try. Will I have to remove any cables? Is this a difficult swap to do? Thanks, Wally

I'll offer my expert/layman/guessing opinion. He is both right and wrong. At present most (if not all) malware/viruses are directed/programmed for PC's. To say that Imacs are not vulnerable is inaccurate in my opinion. Most government computers, NASA, Military, Secret Service use PC's. Most BUSINESSES use PC's...and to be honest most HOME CONSUMER'S use PC's. So the hackers usually want to the most damage to users that use PC's. Imacs are more popular with graphic artists, photographers, and writers. Could a malicious program be written for an Imac...my guess is YES. But the impact would be very small compared to the number of users that own PC's.

If you go through Blytheville, AR then you need to stop at any one of several places for a BBQ sandwich. Blytheville does mostly CHOPPED BBQ and most use a vinegar based hotsauce...AND most TOAST their buns. There are no less than 8-10 BBQ stands in Blytheville, some are better than others, but the WORST ONE is probably better than most places outside of Blytheville. If you are indeed going through Blytheville, let me know and I'll point you in the direction of the best. Blytheville is my hometown (I no longer live there, but visit often). And admittedly, Blytheville is not the cleanest or safest place in the US to live, but I still call it home...and EVERY TIME I go home, I go to at least 2 different BBQ places and the donut shop they have there. Best DONUTS in the WORLD... Wally

Why Jonesboro? How are you getting to Jonesboro? From what direction (roads) are you planning on?

They knew it was him because of his blue eyes. One blew to the right and one blew to the left.

aspen60 I hadn't seen that poem before...that was a great poem!!

Don...I know you probably want to make this yourself...but my guess is that you could find this from a leather maker or even have this replicated by a leathersmith. They could make this basketweave pattern by stamping it.

Forgive my language Don...but in response to this post... Some of the biggest BADASSES I know are dog lovers and would cry and GRIEVE just like you and I do, if not more. Nothing sissy about Man's best friend! I lost our Louie (a Beagle) last July when he was 14 years old...it was (is) the worst grieving that my wife and I have ever went through. Luckily, we were able to make Louie's last month of life one of the best of his life. My sympathies are with you friend. Wally

Chris...sorry, I answered you the first time while I was at work...and just now checking this since I got home. Like The Goose has said...yes, you'll have to drop the light bar and yes those bolts are a BEOOTCH to get to...easy to strip out too. Good luck. Wally- 21 replies

Audio Controller Intermittent Problem
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Chris (and others)....just an update. Since I did this to mine (grease it up)...I have not had a single issue (knock on wood) and that is with about 3500 miles since I check and greased all connections. Before this...it would flicker from stop to stop, light to light and EVERYDAY. I'm a happy camper now. Wally- 21 replies

Thanks...we're gettin' ready to get hit again...actually, South Arkansas is hit right now.

Actually, I kinda know where I am going, but thinking there might be something along the road that most people don't know about. My route... Leave Searcy, AR tomorrow morning and head up to Branson, MO to eat a BURGER and FRIES at Billy Bob's Dairyland on Hwy 76. From there, I'll ride another 30 minutes to Kimberling City to spend the night. The real journey starts at Paris Springs, MO (Gary's Sinclair on Route 66), and heading east. So anything unusual from there up to Cuba, MO which is where I am spending the night on Monday night (and eating at the Missouri Hick and staying at the Wagon Wheel Motel). On Tuesday...I'll head again East on Route 66 from just this side of St. Louis and then head back towards Arkansas down Hwy 67 South. So if ya know something cool to see...list it here. Thanks, Wally

I don't know how far most of you go before, but I usually start to look for gas at about 120-130 miles. The fartherest (before today) I ever rode on a tank a gas was about 152 miles... I was in the middle of NOWHERE in Southeast Missouri today and no gas stations around. Even at 165 miles, I still didn't hit reserve...I mighta went a few more miles even. How about some of you. I agree with jlh3rd, the F4 is an EXCELLENT shield...and makes riding in the rain "almost" fun. LOL The wind buffeting just doesn't happen behind my shield. I have the BIGGER shield too. I have NO COMPLAINTS at all about the F4 shield...EXCEPT and this is not really a complaint... I wished they offered a shading on the bottom of the shield...either a tinting or preferably a dot matrix shading would improve the LOOK of the shield. Would I buy again...DANG RIGHT I WOULD!!!

And I ain't talkin' about the movie. Six months ago a buddy of mine sold his bike because he had constant vertigo. In fact, he recently found out he has Meniere's disease. The fact he had to sell his bike was a hard thing for him to do, and I even kidded him about how big a WUSS he was. A week ago Saturday I woke feeling FINE. I sat down and turned my computer on and my world TURNED UPSIDE DOWN! My vision went black and the room spun so hard I had to hold the desk. It let up a little bit after about 30 seconds, but I was DIZZY and unbalanced the rest of the day. On Sunday it was worse, and I was bouncing off walls down the hallway. Last MondayI slept all day long and finally called my wife and told her I had to go to the doctor (I haven't been to the doctor in a very long time)...and even longer since I had any kind of wellness screen. But, she drove me to the doctor and he explained the possiblities to me. It could be blood pressure, an inner ear infection, loose "rocks" (seriously), and maybe even Meniere's disease! Hestarted me on Steroids, Antibiotics and Valium. My wife took me back home and I began my medications. I called into work the next day (first time in 5 years) and had my wife TAKE ME TO WORK on Wednesday. By Thursday I was well enough to drive myself by car (although that was scary...still not focusing right) and then on Friday...same thing, but driving was a little better. My goal was to RIDE yesterday. I rode approximately 400 feet and then turned around and came home. I was gonna ride today, and while I am better (maybe 90%)...something told me NOT to ride, so I didn't. I do plan on riding this week later in the week. My reason for sharing this story is let everyone know that something "seemingly" so minor can be a major impact on your life. My guess is that many of you that read this will have already experienced this and just not written about it...but if you've ever had this problem, you will NOT forget it. It is NOT unusual for older adults (I'm 55) to have an occasional bout with vertigo (I didn't know this)...but there are treatments for it. I PROMISE I won't ever call anyone a WUSS ever again for not being able to ride. Gettin' old is a BEOTCH!!

As per advice from the great people on here...a drip now and then is normal, but also be sure and keep your oil level around 1/2 in the sight glass. I had mine way over the half mark (almost to the top) and I would get a drip occasionally. Also...like the others have said...lots of dirt and grime will accumulate on those drains. Enjoy the bike! Hey guys...I have a big bottle of this stuff, but not used it for anything yet. I just want to make sure I understand how you made this repair...the tab broke off and you smeared some plastex on the break and then mated the two back together...OR did you do that and then build up extra plastex on each side of the break also? Am I missing something here...is it THAT strong that gluing the pieces together is like a weld? Thanks, Wally

Keith...not really a hijack...more of a SLIGHT detour. This little insignificant mod can be used on all kinds of GPS's and just might save someone $200-$1000. Wally
