  1. The plastic ones work very well. They do have a rubber gasket around the edge, so they are waterproof (and I can vouch that they DO work..don't ask me how). They are WAAAAAY overrpriced on the chrome plated and brushed aluminum ones...but the plastic one works VERY well. Velcro inside this thing is a wonderful thing...see below.
  2. SilvrT...I like the battery cover changes you made...and REALLY like the rocker switch panels...what do the switches go to?
  3. Cool...Christmas colors too. Very nice. Wally
  4. What are some of the LITTLE things you have added to your bike that most people might not have thought of...either ornamental or practical? For example, I have the License plate grifter plate: http://www.bikesax.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ACCGRIFT01&Category_Code=ACC-ESS This little gem locks and can keep your paper work...extra keys, a small flash light, fuses...and best of all, it locks. It is not really stealth...but you do need to know what you are looking for. Anyone else? Wally
  5. OK...I didn't mention it before, but this is what I use for my license plate...and they ARE THE HANDIEST thing to have for small storage!!! http://www.bikesax.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ACCGRIFT01&Category_Code=ACC-ESS Wally
  6. I guess I was not expecting to see exposed wires...and a license plate over it doesn't really "seal" it up...if everyone says its no big deal then I won't worry about it. Wally
  7. I guess I deserve that. LOL Thank you sir...may I have another!!
  8. That JUST BLOWS ME AWAY!!! OK...so do most of you just leave it that way? Wally
  9. I apologize for so many questions. I am not a dummy...but I sure feel and am acting like one. I haven't got my new plates yet...so I look back there where they had the temp plate, take it off and this is what I see. I think something is missing...surely they don't sell the venture without a cover for these exposed wires.
  10. OK....I am getting ready to swap my two antennas out. I went out there and got ready to swap them out (should be easy right)...and now I see 3 wrench points (flat spots)... I tried very lightly to turn all 3, but I am afraid I might damage the antenna if I twist off the wrong one... So which one is it...the top smaller wrench point, the middle or the largest one being the lower one. Thanks, Wally
  11. Thanks [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=5899]VentureRider.Org[/ame], just what I was thinking too..I appreciate the validation. Wally
  12. Brain fart. Yes, I remember posting to it. I apologize for the oversight...if there is anything in here you can put in that thread that would be great and then this one can be shut down. You've done a very nice job on it. Wally
  13. Wild Hogs II has been canceled. There will be only ONE Wild Hogs Movie. http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/escaped-movie-wild-hogs-2-is-cancelled.htm
  14. Great...I'll look at that...$12 a can though...I guess you pay premium prices for the best though. LOL
  15. Thanks Dave....I appreciate it. Wally
  16. Thank you Dingy...I have fixed it now. I have a 2009 Venture-S Thanks. Wally
  17. I didn't know if I should ask all the questions here (harder to search) or just ask one at a time...anyway, I decided to ask all at once and then at the end offer a suggestion. I have a brand new 2009 Royal Star Venture-S (11 miles on it now). 1. Like many of you, my CB antenna was mounted on the RIGHT side instead of the clutch side...Can I just SWAP the two antenna's or do they have to be reinstalled? Can they just be unscrewed and swapped? 2. Does anyone have a good WELL LIT picture of the inside of the fairing? I am especially interested in getting an image of the BACK of the cassette deck...and more specifically the AUDIO OUT in the back of the casette deck. 3. Dealer said to use premium gas...I take most on here use regular unleaded...correct? 4. Is the speedometer accurate (my VTX speedo was off by 10%)? 5. What is the CONSENSUS on tires for the Venture? 6. Does anyone have a link to a GOOD SMALL stickup light for the trunk? 7. Is there not an OEM riders backrest for the Venture? And if not, why not? I have seen the 3rd party vendors, but just curious about a YAMAHA backrest. 8. Has anyone used the High Beam Garage Openers...and how the heck do you connect it? Their instructions are terrible. And finally a suggestion. I know we have a FAQ...but how about a FAQ for NEWBIES. Simple easy questions in one FAQ that most NEW GUYS (and Ladies) ask everytime a new bike is bought... Thanks to you all so far for helping me as much as you have. I feel like a brand new rider with this bike even though I have been riding since 1979. I also admit I have some buyers remorse. I'm sure it's because I just haven't been able to ride (bike has been in the garage since the day I brought it home). So maybe once I can start riding, things will get a little better. Wally
  18. Ooops...I do have another question though.. It's not possible that I introduced air is it? The handlebars never moved...so I don't think it COMPLETELY drained out...I can just add to it right? Wally
  19. There are GREAT powers in NUMBERS and we were all wishing you the best of luck. Congratulations...I have an indirect view of how frustrating and challenging it is when looking for new work...my wife was unemployed for over a year and although it took her two jobs to find this last one, she is glad things worked out like they did...and I HOPE you can say the same thing in the very near future. Good luck. Wally
  20. I hate that dang sight glass...it is so difficult to see anything. I do appreciate the tips...and YEP, they definitely are helpful. Wally
  21. How much fluid goes into it...I know it has view window, but now I am "gun shy" about over filling it... Are there any tricks...handle bar position...etc? THanks, Wally
  22. OK...so I got my Motorcycle Larry Ram Mount Resevoir Cover today. I put it on the LEFT side and liked the way it sat above the Audio Controller, but it also exposed 1/3 of the back of the GPS (which is where the external speaker is located), so I decided to move it to the right. The left cover came off very easily and I noticed a plastic cover that I assume prevents spillage...so anyway, I decide to move it to the RIGHT side to see if it fits better and when I take the screws out...you guessed it...the white plastic cover came off and CLUTCH FLUID spilled out of the reservoir onto the garage floor. LUCKILY I had the steering column straight instead of cocked and the fluid fell straight to the floor. I assume if any gets on paint it will strip it correct? Again, although DUMB...I was lucky that none got on anything except a drop or two on the VERY bottom of the chrome kickstand (wiped off with wet cloth and then dried). What I need to know is...since I have never messed with the brakes on ANY bike I have ever owned...what kind of CLUTCH FLUID do I use (do I need to go to the Yamaha place)...and HOW MUCH do I put in... Thanks for helping the DUMBA$$ out. Wally
  23. I can check out 2 people at the same time at the 7-11 store. Just kidding of course...not meant to put anyone down that works at a 7-11. Congrats...I KNOW it takes a LOT of hard work and MIND POWER when it comes chemistry (organic/inorganic). Me...I know a little about CLINICAL Chemistry.
  24. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will post some pics when I mount it...actually I might do that either this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest. I saw your mount earlier...VERY NICE too. Thanks, Wally
  25. Thanks Raceman...Luckily, I have all 3 sizes of arms for this... Wally
