I also did exactly what Bryan said (great minds think alike). Again...except for the weight, this is a HIGH QUALITY constructed bag. Wally

Some of us just "skip to our Loo"

Thanks, juust waiting on an update...sounds interesting.

I also got the same bag as bryan52577...EXCELLENT BAG!!! This is THE BEST roll bag on the market in my opinion...it is made with excellent quality, it is durable, it RETAINS IT SHAPE!!! Just an all around GREAT BAG to have. My only (very, very, VERY MINOR) complaint is that the thing is HEAVY...but quality is like that I guess! Wally

Don, Have you installed the gear indicator yet? Just curious if the install went well and if the product works OK. Wally

Easiest way to REMEDY an Oil overfill
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Luckily I work at a hospital and found some great tubing and also have a nice big ole SYRINGE that will SUCK it right out....I am a happy camper now. Thanks everyone for the tips!!! Wally -
Yeah...I did my first oil change and used the Rotella T6 synthetic oil...but I accidently (actually my buddy finished the jug off when I wasn't looking) OVERFILLED the oil. When I use the sight glass (on the level)...all I can see is a bubble at the top...so I know it's overfilled. Now...I am wondering the easiest way to drop some oil out...the oil filter, the plug...or even through the fill hole (Yeah, I know...I doubt that too). Any suggestions. Wally

YAOQ - Yet another oil question(s)
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks... Actually, I have a bike jack (a friend has it now)...but I was under the impression that I had to have an "adapter" for the jack to work with the Venture. Anyway...I have 2x6 beveled boards and then another board doubled up that looks like a step...and I have used it to do all my VTX oil changes...it's quick, it's easy and it keeps the bike ALMOST level. THanks for the info. Wally -
YAOQ - Yet another oil question(s)
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OH...I did have one last question...This oil change can be done without having to be put on a lift correct. I can change the oil and filter with just the side stand down. Right? -
What about a fairing?

Rotella T6 FULL Synthetic. I understand this is now within the specs of the Yamaha Warranty and can now be used on the Venture. So my questions are: (1) How many of you have used the Rotella T6? (2) If you are getting it at Walmart, what OIL FILTER are you getting there? (3) Are there ANY special considerations when changing the oil. It looks pretty straight forward...1 draing plug, and one oil filter. Thanks. Wally

Naw...not too far. This will be a really nice ride. Staying at the Big Texan in Amarillo the first night...can you say BIG OLE FILET MIGNON!!!

Steve, I am headed to a meeting right now, but will answer this late this afternoon...but as a hint...it's a mixed bag with LOTS of potential. Wally

I looked at all the boards...couldn't figure out where to post something like this...feel free to move it if needed. Anyway, me and a buddy are gonna make a trip to the Grand Canyon June 18th-25th. Our plan is to head out on Friday (June 1http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif and be back the next Friday (June 25). It'll be a moderate riding 2 of the first 3 days...and then EASY RIDING for 2 days out in Flagstaff...and then 2 moderate days riding back to Arkansas. Do you feel like seeing the Grand Canyon? Come with us. 2-3 people to a room...so the costs won't be that bad. For more information: http://www.arkansasbiker.net Wally

Just a FYI...unless they have opened early. The Dragon was supposed to be closed until July 3rd (I think)...from a rock slide. I would check before you head that way. Wally

OK...I just now talked to Dave. He has the template left over from when he did my gas cap cover (and it works great). I used it today and it fits nicely, but also serves as HOLDER for the gas cap when you are filling up. Anyway, Dave is a great guy and my only motive is an alternative to that crappy cover from Yamaha...In other words, I get nothing from him whether he sells ONE cap or a hundred caps. He can do them plain for $30 or you can send him your artwork (or initials, etc) and he charges $40 for those. He said it takes about 3-4 hours for each one (that comes out to $7/hour). Anyway...here is an order form: http://www.arkansasbiker.net/leather/leatherorder.doc (Word Document) http://www.arkansasbiker.net/leather/leatherorder.pdf (PDF File) Here are examples of what he did for me: http://www.arkansasbiker.net/leather/gascover1.jpg http://www.arkansasbiker.net/leather/gascover2.jpg http://www.arkansasbiker.net/leather/gascover3.jpg I am just trying to help my fellow Venture riders a chance for some handcrafted accessories. This guy didn't ask me to do this...it was my idea. If this outside the scope of this forum...please ignore or delete it. Thanks. Also...Please direct all your questions directly to Dave and not on here. Wally

I will talk to him and see what his thoughts are...he is working on a leather patch for me right now...HE DOES AWESOME GRAPHICS ON LEATHER. He has also made me a VERY nice drink holder (that I don't have anymore)... I will talk to him and get some ideas and costs and report back. Wally

Now that's funny...I don't care who ya are!

It doesn't. It just slips off and then you have access to the gas cap. But I also use the cover to set the gas cap into when I am filling up. Wally
