Hey...this type of approach might work very well for an oil gauge and a tempgauge? Ya think? Wally

Snopes BUSTED!! http://www.snopes.com/autos/hazards/gasvapor.asp However, the email is not entirely without some merit. The cellphone thing is a BUST, but the cautions against static electricity and smoking while fueling should be heeded and are a great reminder about safety while refueling your bike or other vehicles.

Thought they did a pretty nice job of "updating" this bike. They changed more than just the color. http://newproductlaunch.kawasaki.com/Products/PhotosLarge.aspx?ProductId=495&PhotoId=141438&featured

I have been a lab tech for over 35 years now. I work in our hospital blood bank, so I have given out blood since 1975...lots of blood. Strictly from a scientific view, I don't entirely agree with Trader on the reasons why bloodless surgeries (and treatments) are better. I do believe that getting blood and blood products is fairly safe, and much safer than even 5 years ago. As for the religious reasons why I can't speak to that because there is no way to argue or prove beliefs. HOWEVER...with that said, Trader's assertion that bloodless surgery and/or treatments is better than infusing blood products. There is some truth that... NOTE: THIS IS MY OPINION Many (not all) Physicians have little understanding of how to use blood products. The American Red Cross is constantly having emergency donation centers set up because of blood shortages. And while the blood shortages "may" be real, most of the time these shortages are caused by improper use and unnecessary transfusions simply because a physician does not weigh the risks, benefits, and cost of using blood products. In my 35 years I have seen patients get blood with blood levels (hemoglobin & hematocrits) HIGHER THAN mine. The transfusion was totally unncessary and was the equivalent of "blood doping", something that professional bike racers do (or marathoners). You can tell this is rant...and I have way TOO much opinion on this... Bottom line, yes there are lots of reasons NOT to have a blood transfusion, but if used properly and in the right circumstances, yes it can save your life.

Thanks guys...This is MY FAULT. I should have made clear what the purpose was for asking. I had a friend do a onetime leather cover to fit OVER the gas cap. Now I am in the process of getting another one done by someone else and they asked if the gas caps were the same size (DIMENSIONS ONLY). I am not interested if they actually "fit" the bike. So basically, the OUTER CAP DIMENSIONS ONLY is all I am interested in...But with that said, I need to know if it EXACTLY the same circumference or not. Close might not be good enough. Thanks again. Wally

Pretty simple question. Is the gas cap on a 2009 Royal Star Venture the SAME SIZE as a Royal Star Tour Deluxe gas cap...or any other Yamaha's that are the same size as the Venture. Thanks, Wally

Cassette Deck, why do you have a problem with MORE options?
rumboogy replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
Yeah...but they are doing it on a $20,000 bike. I wouldn't think their profit margin is that slim. -
Cassette Deck, why do you have a problem with MORE options?

Here's the deal on the Venture (just a NOVICE opinion). For very little money per bike. Either just eliminate the cassette deck or make it REMOVABLE (turning the bay into storage). Replace the carbs with EFI. Upgrade the rear shock (and that would be optional). Maybe offer ABS brakes (the biggest expense). Work on the BALANCE of the machine (maybe even LOWER the dang thing). But for the most part...leave it alone. Wally -

rumboogy replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
I might consider gauges to replace the cassette deck, but I do not like anything available right now. Also, I would prefer to do it in a way that I could maintain the "stock" options of the bike...in other words, I don't want to tear up the cassette deck, nor the opening. It's only been 10 years...maybe someone will come up with something. LOL -
OK...I got rid of my Dunlop 404 tires (front and back). The ride home (appeared) to be MUCH different with the Dunlop Elite 3's on the bike. The bike (appeared) to handle much better. The bike (appeared) to have much more grip. AND The bike (appeared) to have NO "squirrely" shifting around when going over bumps, lines and tar snakes. So what is REALLY going on here? Why the "percieved" change? What causes it? I realized just by changing the tires that the grip should improve, but the handling to the degree I am seeing it kind of amazes me. Are SOME OF THIS PERCEIVED changes psychological (placebo effect)? What is everyone's opinion on this... Wally

Hey Joe...I see you're a retired Navy Chief, and living in Goose Creek, SC. I was stationed in Beaufort, SC from 1973-1975, then out to Oakland for a year, and then ALL the way back to Charleston, SC and worked at Naval Regional Medical Center in Charleston for 2 years. My first apartment was at 6600 Rivers Ave. LOL Came back home (Blytheville, AR) and then MOVED BACK to Charleston to work for 2 years at the VA Hospital there. Charleston (and surrounding communities) are GORGEOUS places to visit and live!! Wally HM3 (used to be)

Larry...I hear ya man. A hunger strike would probably the healthiest thing I've done in awhile...I'm just afraid I'd blow away before they update (significantly) the Ventures. LOL

Someone else tell ScaryLarry. I'll be on a hunger strike until they are announced. Nevermind, I'm going to get a cheeseburger.

I searched for quite a while today looking for some "mini" gauges...and evidently they just aren't out there.

OK...now I thought I was in a 747 airplane looking at all your gadgets and gauges. The gauges look VERY NICE!! Lots of stuff...LOVE IT!!
