New choke knob from Starparts
rumboogy replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I use the stealth key. I leave it in almost all the time. EXCEPT, when I am out of sight or when I stay overnight in motels. But in my garage, and on day trips...it stays in. -
Yeah...figured I'd get that. LOL 3 Bikes 9 helmets in 6 years.
-
I just ordered a helmet from them last night. In fact, I have ordered 9 helmets from them over the past 6 years. My brother ordered 2 helmets from them today. ALWAYS FAST SHIPPING and easy to deal with. Wally

Mike...if you were going with a bunch of guys...I would say take only one pair of pants, 2 t-shirts, 2 underwear and 2 socks. With your wife, you might double that. No matter WHAT TIME OF YEAR, prepare for both HOT and COLD weather.

1joeranger, I have heard the Har(d)ley Davidson trip planner that anyone can use is a good tool for planning motorcycle rides. I have never used it, but am just going on what other people have told me. Wally

Mike, OOPS...here is my photography site: http://rumboogy.zenfolio.com/f40679589 So from Chicago to New Mexico...your slowest parts will be between Springfield, MO and Tulsa, OK. I mean there are things on either side of those 2 locations, but there is lots of stuff between them. Your wife being a professional photographer...you might be stopping a lot. LOL Again, let me know when you have set dates and I can tell you of at least one motel (Sayre, OK) to AVOID!! Wally

Mike...forgot 2 things! Yes, I ordered the windshield...probably be here next week late. I will be in touch about that. But here is my photography site with some of my pictures from 3 (maybe 4) of the rides we did on Route 66. One trip (2009), I was leading 18 bikes. THAT was a nightmare. http://rumboogy.zenfolio.com/f40679589 Wally

Mike, I have done about 80% the entire Route 66, but at 4 different times. I been as far east as Cuba, MO and as far west as Needles, CA. You didn't mention if you had a GPS or not...if you do, this is a VERY GOOD mapping of Route 66, but it is only for the Garmin Nuvi's (I think) and zumo GPS's. http://shop.spotitout.com/search.asp?productid=137 I have lots of links for paper maps and books detailing points of interests (POI's), motels, attractions and food joints. You also didn't say how long you intend to take. Based on what you said though, I would say about 10 days maybe? I have done the Springfield, MO to Albuquerque, NM trip 3 of the 4 times and actually have done it an additional time in the car. Will you be shooting photographs? Do you want the Mom & Pop experience for dining and motels (be sure to let your wife understand what that means) . I know I haven't helped you much so far, but I will add more as more people respond. I will tell you that it is not for everybody, but the Europeans LOVE IT. And so do I. I will do Route 66 (some of it again) this year...just don't know when. And these 2 sites will prove invaluable, especially this first one: Route 66 Forum http://www.historic66.com/forum/index.php And this is a blog/news site http://rwarn17588.wordpress.com/ Wally

OK...Seaking I just checked out some of the reviews of the Silverstar and while everyone is very impressed with their intensity and the broadness of that intensity, the BIG HIT it takes on the Silverstar is how long they last, some reviews talk about ridiculously short times that those bulbs will last. Anway...in your post you said "BC guys" sells these. Is that a store or a member here? Wally

Seaking...enlighten me. Difference between the Silverstone and HID?
-
Yeah...pulling the fairing is easy. I was talking about getting the exact bulb. The Silverstone Ultra H4 bulb has several different catalog numbers. A link would be GREAT.

Stebel Horn bracket & wiring harness

Here you go sir... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=24 -
Ok, I see them under H4, but even with the H4 there are catalog numbers; 9004, 9003, 9006 etc. Any help here...getting ready to pull the fairing off and would love to UPGRADE the bulb.

Where can these Silverstar Ultra be ordered? Catalog number? Thanks.

I just ordered (December 28) the F4 Customs shield and was VERY, VERY happy with the personalized service (he recognized me from posting on their Facebook site). I don't have the shield yet, but should get it next week (HOLIDAYS)...and if the PRODUCT is as good as the service, I will be a happy camper and I have EVERY reason to believe it will. Now, as for the product itself...I am a FIRM believer in polycarbonate!!! Some of the best optical materials are made from this material. It is more durable than any other windshield product out there and it is SHATTER RESISTANT (almost shatterproof). Shatter resistant, scratch resistant, optically clear and I can use RainX on it. I will report when I actually install the shield and use the product.

I just want to take a HOG minute to cheer my Razorbacks on as they do the beatdown on the Buckeyes. Sorry Buckeyes, but this is still not your year to beat an SEC team. Go HOGS!!! (all in fun) hope this doesn't break the rules, as I heard there are some people from Ohio on here. :-) Hope it's a safe game!! http://www.arkansasbiker.net/hogs.jpg

Lots of little apps like that out there. Viruses and trojans can be spread by programs, WEBSITES (not this one - or mine), by emails, by LINKS (notorious) and finally, even by IMAGES with fake extensions. You'll see something like: image.jpg but in reality it might really be something like: image.jpg.php I don't do ANY e-cards or links. Facebook is riddled with LINKS that lead to malicious websites. Just an FYI...Don't open anything from anyone you don't know. Also, BE VERY CAREFUL with people you do know, LOTS of people have been given viruses or adware by "friends" either unintentionally or through SPOOFING of email addresses. Surfer BEWARE.

LOL...I guess I am "one of those geeks" since it is my forum over there. LOL Actually, there are some pretty sharp members over there...basically I'm like everybody else...that is where I go for my answers...my own forum.

rumboogy replied to painterman67's topic in Watering Hole
What do you mean, "If I drank coffee?" You're a Navy Chief!!! I thought that was part of BEING a Navy Chief. LOL Actually, I worked at the dispensary there in Goose Creek, SC for awhile, but spent MOST of my time at the Charleston Naval Regional Medical Center back in the 70's. :-) -
She is very easy to work with...I didn't mean for this to turn into a commercial, but after the TS fiasco (the leather guy), I wanted someone I could trust. Here's her website: http://www.acehighleathers.com/ And her name is Nanci and she does great work. Now you know as much as I do.
