I am trying to figure out if this is fairly normal or if there might be a problem. The bike runs fine, but I noticed a small oil drip under the motor (towards the back). There are a series of rubber tubes coming down (I assume they are vent tubes), some of them are smaller and cut straight across, but the 2 of them are larger and diagonal cut (if that matters). Here are the pics from under the bike. Thanks for any help or comments. Wally

Just noticed this morning that I have a small leak right under the engine...I haven't checked it out yet, but it feels like oil. How frequent is it for the newer bikes to spring a small oily leak. I am hoping it is either from the filter or the plug...just not tight enough. I will check out this evening. Wally

Here's how I did my garage door opener (sorry the picture is not the greatest). I took a small miniature garage door opener...programed it for my door. Then soldered 2 wires to the switch and to the opener and then with velcro...hid it underneath the ignition cowling with a button...works like a charm.

They made the decision tonight at the board meeting. One of the board members emailed me the decision, but had already gave me a heads up about a week ago. We always took a "crew" of about 10-20 with us over there.

The Little Sturgis Rally in Sturgis, KY has been shut down permanently. The announcement came today and was due to the fact that fair board wanted an EXPONENTIALLY amount of money for renting the grounds for one week. The cost went from $1500 to $17,000. The rally is no more.

Watch out posting pictures with cell phones.

I don't know what the big deal is about. I can look up names on the internet, I can look up addresses on the internet, heck, for $20 I can check out anyone and see their financial history, see if they have any convictions, find their relatives...the list is REALLY endless. Much ado about nothing. To think that you truly have privacy is unrealistic in today's society. And just because you don't take a picture with a cellphone, not participate in Facebook, not purchase products online...none of that will completely protect from someone that wants to find out information about. Yes, there are some things to make LIVING safer, but to be "surprised" by technology at this point in our society is pretty naive. Just my opinion though. -

I think the term "Vietnam" refers to the WAR and not the exact location. Now, if there were a group called the "Mekong Delta" Vets...that would be a different story! I am a "Vietnam War Era Veteran" (serving before 1975. I joined the US Navy in 1973 and never made it outside the states (don't ask me how that happened, being a corpsman I guess). But I have never led anyone to believe I was involved with the Vietnam War in any way...I don't even mention it. Unfortunately, there will always be levels of commitment in the service. During war, you'll have those that never get close to the war, yet they did serve. Then you'll have those that did not participate in the combat itself, yet they did serve. You have those that saw close combat and they too served. And finally, you have those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, those that both fought and died for our Country, and they served and died. All of us are members of an elite club, we served. I make no excuses for those of us that did not participate in combat, but I a certainly have a humble respect for those that did.

Thanks Owen...I have thought about getting that bib...but it's awfully pricey. Does it work well for you? Would love to see some hi-res images of it on your bike. You can PM me if you prefer...sorry to hijack the thread. Now back to our regularly scheduled POSTING. :-) -

Looking at new tires. How are Dunlop D404's?
rumboogy replied to timgray's topic in General Tech Talk
You may not get a concensus on the BEST tires, but I do believe you'll get a MAJORITY on what not to get...Seems like the Dunlop 404's number comes up quite often for tires to avoid. I'm just sayen' -

rumboogy replied to timgray's topic in General Tech Talk
That's the stock tire on the RSV. I just changed (about 4000 miles ago) to the Dunlop E3, and they are MUCH, MUCH better than the 404's. Much better grip on dry and wet, and the handling is like night and day. JMHO -
What if you had a forum website where all the member were BOTS. Now that would be strange.

I have owned dogs all my life. But only Beagles. In fact, I just lost the best beagle that was ever part of our family. It was TOUGH!!! On a lighter note, my only surviving Beagle, Buster is FAMOUS (well kinda). Louie (my best Beagle) and Buster were in a book about Beagles. Louie is in the book over 30 times and Buster actually made the COVER OF THE BOOK. The book is available at Amazon.com. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Beagle-Owners-Survival-Guide-Benchmark/dp/0944875777]Amazon.com: The Beagle: An Owner's Survival Guide (Benchmark Series Book) (9780944875773): Diane Morgan: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5193HQQJ8XL.@@AMEPARAM@@5193HQQJ8XL[/ame] Here's a few pics of Louie and Buster including the one they used on the book cover. The two dogs together are Louie and Buster. Louie would have been about 3 years old and Buster was still a pup...maybe 3-4 months. You can tell I ain't proud of my buds.

Alternate Fairing Broken Tab Fix
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thank you Don...that's good enough for me. I will proceed with this repair in this manner in the next month or so. I will take pics of the repair when I do it (in case it works). Thanks again. Wally -
Alternate Fairing Broken Tab Fix
rumboogy replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks Eck...I think this is the fix I am going to try. My only concern (but I think it will be alright) is the JB Weld on the plastic fairing, and any reaction it might have...but I think it will work. -
Alternate Fairing Broken Tab Fix
rumboogy posted a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
First, please forgive my PRIMITIVE art. I am still thinking on the fairing broken tab fix thing... Would this type of set up be possible. A strong brace with three holes, one attached to the bottom speaker bolt, the top one attached to the fairing METAL STRIP and then a second brace that a has a wing (T shaped) that fits FLAT against the fairing and held in place with JB Weld (the wing would give more surface area for the glue to hold). Once the glue has cured, this brace would then be attached to the first brace. This setup might provide a LOT of stability for the METAL STRIP and windshield. The braces would have to cut precisely (so as to not pull to much against the fairing), and also would involve some bending. Here is a VERY bad drawing and the 2nd brace does not show the WING I think would be best for securing it to the fairing. I see no reason to have it replaced if it just gonna break again. I would rather fix it for good. Comments, suggestions and SOME LAUGHTER is appreciated. Wally -
