i thought of renting a small u haul and bring a air mattress a sleeping bag. roll the back door up and sleep in it LOL

flb the rotors where bad and when i bought the bike from the last owner he gave me all 3 rotors to replace. when im done with the repairs i will take pics and show what they look like the old ones. had some nasty groves in them. and i could push the rear brake way down before the bad boy would even start to think about slowing down. maybe im just one of them parinoid pepole? but i figure if ya got them use them. so here is what i done so far 1 new tires 2 new brakepads 3 installing the rotors 4 draining rearend and refill .5 bought the molly honda grease and going to check the splines? 6 a fresh oil change and filter 7.installed a new fresh gel battery have to do the resistor thing to stop the battery light in dash, but wire wasent there to start with? 8 anti freeze looks ok and still good.? 9 figure out why last owner installed a pull and push switch for the fan? its where the fron air should be by the key cover. so wheres the front air valve? 10 run the heck out of it to clean out the seafoam, then install new plugs. and the most important thing keep cleaning the 2 bars for enough cash to make the payments.

so far so good i did get a call tonight on my cell from a member here and im sorry i didnt catch who it was. my little 7 year old niece tried to get it and deleted it from my phone. kids gotta love em.? anyways front tire is back on and mounted to the bike new pads installed as well. rear tire still off. i sprayed the heck out of the rear area with degreaser. lots of road gunk under there. thinking of a quick rattle can black spray while i can reach some of the area. i was shocked to see that there was no cotter key on the back axle:scared:. some one did what looked like the old safety wire on the front one. i use to to do that on dirtbikes. so im thinjking what the heck was the last owner thinking? plus either im blind or its small but i dont see an arrow on the back tire for the rotation. its a dunlop? ok ok could be the 5 beer sight adjustment why i can see it:innocent-emoticon: and the cute women who stopped by to see what we where up to? they brought the beer so with cold beer and hot women time to take a break. they left about a half hour ago. phone numbers and a next weekend meet gee life is getting good again.

well there off. the tires whew there are some good pepole here. now time for the rotors? these look like allen type? but also doese anyone sugest loctite. when installing them? see i told you im going to try working on this beast. if i get frustrated i just walk away for a while. its snowing so cant ride anyways. also i heard something about moly grease the splines? and ok how do i empty or refill the rear end? any thing else i should know or do while the rear is off? grease the swing arm maybe if i can find where to do that. also real dirty and gunky there? from the records i have the tires where put on 2 years ago. but im going new never can be too safe. even though the old tires still have the tips on them. the bike sat on a flat for a year? rear one. so i bought dunlops. like the ones that are on it. as im sure thats the way to go? and then im sure i will be bugging ya again when the time comes for the brake pads and bleeding:innocent-emoticon: gee its fun to learn about these bikes/ oh i should say a 84 venture royal that could help

well im sure there is a link some where for this? but being not to good at the computer age. i have no idea where to look? so im going to ask the good pepole here.. im working on the venture doing tires rotor and brakes. well front tire came of nice. but. do you have to remove the back fender and the right muffler? it looks like the axle wont come out with out removing the muffler?

micarl i should explain. i was trying to get the bike into a parking space by doing a uturn from the space next to it. not enough room LOL i was told that you have 24 ft uturn radius for a bike thats over 500 cc? well i guess 2 parking spaces is not that much. friend said its about 3.? well the 250 cc i took the test on the uturn radius is smaller so me being silly i though the big old girl (venture would handle like that) nope noway. boom down to the left it went. i didnt sign up for this wonderfull site before then or i wold have to donate LOL

well today after a long year of not riding. i took out the yamaha maxim i was going to give to the girlfriend before we broke up. the venture finaly made its way to a friends house for the tires and rotor and break work. all was going well but i dont know if any one else ever felt this way? but when i hit the highway. i was scared for about 20 miles. then i started to come around. a friend said im rusty? maybe should see about a refresher course? i took the motorcycle safety course 2 years ago. but that was on a little 250cc bike. i passed with a perfect test run. no mistakes back then. now its time to see what im doing wrong? im thinking take the maxim. through that course. then move up to the big boy? i do have a hard time makeing a u turn on the venture. i once did a low side on it. came in to a parking space thinking i could turn it to face outwards and found out i ran out of room? didnt want to hit the parked car so just kind of let it slide down on the crash bar. no damage but man what a bear to get back up. a good friend has now taught me how to get these heavy bikes back up. i was doing it all wrong. never try to muscle that bike he said. he showed me how to get it back upright from both sides. well that has been my day. hope to ride again tomorrow

sorry but for some reason i cant remember the 70.s? but i sure did love brownies for some reason. ? i was born in 58 so cant be considerd a true hippy. but at age 14 i did try to make it to woodstock. with my brother and some friends got caught. hidding in the van

hello . i have a friend who owns a motorcycle shop. he has a 84 venture sitting there just like mine. well he worked on it durring the winter. i didnt know he did this or i would have had mine in there. but anyways back to the question on hand. after working on it . he has had it for over 5 months and so far the owner has not called or made any contact with him when he called the phone number its no longer in service? we rode over to the address where the man was suppose to live. and he has been taken to prison. for over 15 years? my friend said he would like to get this out of his shop. i offerd him the cost of the work and parts he done on the bike. plus what it might take to get a title.? i offten heard about something called a mechanics lean/ but cant that get you a title? this bike runs well. looks crappy. but for around $360.00 for the work he done. and what a title might cost it could be well worth it?.

i went for a job interview today. for a janitorial position. while there they asked if they could do a back ground check and credit check? i said yep no problem. well they said they all ready did it from me filling out my aplication 60 days ago. i said ok what did ya find? they said you have a great back ground check for anything criminal. i said thats great . they said now here is some thing that bothers us some? i went ok here it comes what is it? they said you have a credit score of the mark of the beast? i said huh? thye said it comes back 666. which is a D rateing. needless to say i didnt get this job? what the heck does a credit score have to do with cleaning a damn office building?

bongobob as for plug wires im going to say been on the bike since it was born in 84? i bought this bike from a guy who just didnt take care of it after he went to a harley. last service records i can find in a book he had in the trunk was second gear fixed?? and im not to sure about that? it now has 77,000 miles and thank god has not had a second gear issue to me? this man also never knew what wash and wax was?. so far here is what i have done to it. installed new air filter. bought new dunlop tires to be installed bought use good rotors all of them to be installed less then 12,000 miles on them. new pads to be installed installed new wind shield. bought a used left mirror. bought a nice used false tank from a member here i would rate it a good 7 out of ten the bike is just like waiting for me to bring her back to running good. i did run the bike when i got it for around 3000 miles i used stable when i stored it that year then i came to this wonderfull site. and heard about seafoam. and thats where im at. i should also look for where the fuel filter is as im betting it might be gumming up? im thinking if i get it to freebirds this year. a good battery cable update. seeif we can relocate the tci box? any any other good ideas that might pop up

well today it got up to 48 out side so i thought i would go give the old venture a try. i got it out of the garage. fired her up she idels rough as i knew she would. i put sea foam in it back in october a whole can to a full tank of gas but due to knee problem i never ran the heck out of it. well i was going to take it to a friends garage today for work on brakes , put on rotors , brake pads and tires. so i tokk it out for a 25 mile ride darn thing just couldnt get past 60 mph?? i got into town and pulled up to the stop sign. while letting off the gas. it backfired like a 410 shot gun. i swear i saw the lady in the cross walk duck. well after the back fire she seemed to smooth out some?? so i took her back out on highway and hit 70 mph?? then she started to bog down? well i got her home and went duh ! james you didnt put the new plugs in did ya? nope i forgot. chalk it up to want to ride syndrom. its now back in the bro inlaws garage as my friends apendix ruputred and hes now in the hospital. so no work done on it. me think its time for old goat to learn on this bike. so im going to check the oil make sure no gas in it. then do the plugs. and give her another try. i have to be carefull as brakes are not verry good on the bike. but i want to get her running fair to good. then up to freebirds maintenance day. to work out the bugs?? any thing else i should check out??

mine was a honda sl 175 nice blue one. i loved that bike. i got it when i was 14 after giving up my beloved little honda 50 cc LOL i also had a benelli 65 cc. talk about getting mixed up that little sucker was all left handed. gas on the left brake on the left rear one. top speed was 45 mph down hill behind a semi LOL then i moved on to a honda cb 350. then honda 550 cb. then honda 750 cb. then i went yamaha 750 maxim. wow i better stop im starting to cry about my long lost loves.
