    well i pulled it off down by the wheel. and the cable didnt come out? or should it? at one time the whole cluster had water in it. old PO didnt take care of it. i got the water out of it and it worked fine. i bought a nice cluster full gages and all for a steal looks like new. and only 18000 miles on it. im thinking. with some help ill put that on my bike? but micarl tould me how to get to it thanks. i also have a verry nice radio a trial member here sold me and he sent it all . thats why i like this place he tossed in a false tank cover that i would say is a 8 out of a ten. now a paint job and ill be ridding cool. i cant call it ugly some one named dan took that title:whistling:

    ok we took it out for a run and i must say where getting there still idles a little rough but going to run the pi## out of it. still about 1/4 full with that can of seafoam i put in it . but i hit 55 mph and i swear i had like a dozen cats screaming at me. let me tell ya it puckerd me up. i though oh crap its going to lock up the engine? well i noticed the speedo was just jumping. and damn the noise was loud. so ok is it the cable. or the drive unit at the wheel keep in mind we did both wheels rotors brakes and all did i mess something up while doing that work? i have a extra used cable here as well as the driveunit. but dang i hate to think i got to pull that front wheel again. i also learned if you think it needs to be oiled you better do it. time to wd 40 and check everything out. you know the most fun is learning to do it and learn. right now i would like to kick the PO arse. letting the bike get this way. but when i get er done im going to be one happy guy. also whats the best setting for air. i got 12 in front and 32 rear that might be why it feels so tall. and a little fun getting on it. and is there a way to tell if progressive springs have been installed its a 84 and for some reason or im not looking right i dont see anti dives? also no front air cross over for the forks? where it should be by the key there is now a pull switch that works the fan? why someone did that i dont know? its never overheated on me and i never pulled that switch. except to see what it was. maybe just a precaution while sitting in heavy traffic turn it on?

    i allways said when i turn 80 ill understand women ill understand them just wont remember what to do with them? and boomer at 100 a 23 year old to wipe the drool off the chin. you could say its from the chesse cake but we all know what its realy from wishfull thinking:hihi:

    well annie that might work or keep parking it next to the curb. stand on curb throw leg over and away i go. and i got a friend who gets on his bike from the right side? now that scares me. as it looks like he could pull the bike over and no stand to stop it from going over on him. i think he was born backwards though so it might be normal for him:hihi:

    ok im looking to see if there is a link or post here on sparkplugs im realy into tearing the bike down. with a good yamaha rider. not a venture owner. but has a stable full of old yamaha,s ok he got my tires from the guy who was suppose to have done them the last time and didnt. also got my brake pads and did the rotors. so i now know i have the new tires on the new brake pads and the rotors. bike is realy starting to come along thank the good man above for this man. well he decided to pull the plugs. due to me useing the seafoam and still haveing some idle issues and slight backfire on right hand side. well the rear spark plug on the right hand side had something hard and black stuck between the electroid and the L on the bottom? so im thinking this plug wasent fireing? sorry i didnt snap a pick but it looks like a hard piece of coal?. where going to install fresh plugs. and recheck idle and stuff. he doesent have a sync tool or know how to sync the carbs. so anything i can do or try. also what type of glue can i use to fix some cracks in the side covers? both are cracked about 2 inches on the front part of the covers . or should i use a hot solder gun and melt them from the back side?

    13/16 and damn i got a old hunting trailer on 5 acres in minnesota whats the going price for it? no running water. portable generator. to go number 1 its the first tree about 50 yard from the trailer. number 2 as far away from the trailer as possible.

    ahh ok what floor boards? i just got plain foot pegs. i once tried to stand on the peg and lift my 245 pounds on the bike and fell over. too bad cant mount some kind of lift where the center stand is it comes out from under the bike i put my feet on it and hoist this body onto the bike???

    wow ok this must be the normal thing to do? just about an hour a go i got the call to get my bike to a shop that will do the work the way it should be. long story. well i went to get off the bike. caught that darn back rest and yep i tipped the bike. on the left crash guard. no damage i can see? dang its tough being short in the legs. i need to take that darn backrest off and learn a new way to mount the bike. so count me in for my 5 bucks. also maybe a but butler seat mod might help i almost have to jump up onto the bike?

    yes im going through the same as you i blew out my left knee. its going on 2 years now, workers comp sucks there motto is denie delay dont pay. but im getting close to a settlement. they stopped payments because there quack said i could return to work? LOL he read the MRI wrong. and i ended up haveing 2 operations. second one was because i got a infection in the last one. now instead of a easy operation they had to realy open it up. looks like railroad tracks on both sides of the knee. im now totaly dissabled under social security rules. due to other mediacal reasons as well. you got to hang in there. i know its hard. and trust me you will never get rich from a workers comp settlement.

    potatoe gun mufflers? they get to close to your rear and you hit the gas boom out goes there windshield. sorry i must have kicked up a rock while trying to gun it so you didnt hit me?

    i woke up this morning and the sun was shinning brite so i thought i would take the old girl for a ride. she sputterd moaned and backfired. but soon came to life latter ill put my helmet and jacket on and try to start and ride my bike

    ok im looking for a battery cover for a1986 yamaha virago xv700 is this the left or right side cover? a old girlfriend called and just had to ask me if i can find one? and im not sure what side its on i found a chrome on on ebay. but it just says left and right covers for 60 bucks??? sorry guys and gals what can i say im not a parts salesman.

    today i went out to give the venture a ride after doing brakes rotors and tires. i put on about 55 miles and things where starting to come out of it what i mean is the bike was running good. idle around 1000 rpms at the stop lights. can hit 80 mph and thats in fourth. well i was just enjoying the day when about 5 bikes came up and went around me they stoped in a nearby town about 5 miles down the road i went past. about 2 miles down the road the bike started to act up. cut in cut out? i looked at the gas gauge still showed 2 lines? then poof it quit. i pulled off to the side of the road going now what? my bike is stuck on reserve i think as i cant turn the petcock. not broke just stuck afraid to use pliers. well while im looking like a lost child. these bikers came up and said whats wrong. i said not sure it just died. like it ran out of gas. well they rocked the bike and said sure sounds like ya got none. so off one of them went came back with 2 galons of gas put it in the bike slow cranking for some reason new gel battery. but after about 4 cranks she fired up. i said what i owe ya. he shook my hand said nothing. and vroooomm they where gone. now gas cost about 3 bucks here thats 6 bucks. i will never forget. daman thats his plate .. so all in all its been a nice day.

    well im in need of a new jacket and helmet. i want to be seen.as much as possible. im thinking of a white helmet but not sure of the jacket. i want to go with a look that almost makes me look like a motorcyle cop. and be legal. i have a shoie helmet but its over 9 years old. and fell and hit the bedroom floor from a height of about 5 feet. so i just dont trust it no more. as for a jacket somone thought they need mine and helped them selfs to a old black one i had from like 10 years ago. im sure if i look at the local pawn stores it would turn up there. due to good food it wouldnt fit now anyways. so if any one has a jacket and helmet they would be willing to sell let me know. im a big guy weight wise 245 lbs size 46 waist. not sure of my chest size. ii wear 2 xl t shirts if that helps. my helmet size is xl. any ideas where to look for this gear?

    ok bike is comming along took it out yesterday looks like im going to have to have the carbs done? i did put on 80 miles. and got the tank with the seafoam down to a 1/4 tank. she kind of kicks in and kicks out at 75 mph? im thinking fuel filter if i can find the son of a gun? also i got a front wobble? i think its the front at 60 mph but comes out of it when i slow down to 55mph then comes out of it again at 70mph. just before it acts up like with the kick in kick out thing. ok maybe 60 mph and gooseing it in 5th gear aint the way to go. at 60 in fith i give it gas and thats when she acts like shes going to quit. still backfires some when it idles and i let off the gas comming to a stop. these are the old plugs i followed a members advice and didnt install the new ones because the seafoam might be fouling the plugs. im going to run er again tomorrow then fresh gas about 1/4 more seafoam to the tank. and run it like i stole it. well untill it at least hits75 mph again. im thinking the bugs are starting to come out of this old girl. let me tell ya though even at 70 to 75 mph its a fun ride compared to the maxim 750cc. which is also a fun bike. but nothing like the roll on power the venture has.
