  1. i will look in my extra box i just might have one? it could be a right one though. i will check and let ya know. if its a left
  2. yes gary thats the part the air deflector a royal pain in the butt. as for the hose its the one that goes to front head? damn i need to get my camera back from the great niece. that would sure help explain things i did see hoses on fleabay. for any where from $15 to someone who thinks theres are made of gold and wants $95 for 27 year old hoses. he also has a radiator for are you ready for this.$995.95.. with free shipping:rotf::rotf: oh by the way your frost plugs came in today and thanks so much for them they look verry useable. you know this venture never realy let me down when it comes to being close to home. it either gets home or wont let me leave home. and no one realy wants to be working on there bike when they want to ride. but the joy of saving$$$ by doing it your self sure puts a smile on a persons face i may be slow. but i will get it there.
  3. ok annie i had a peee now i got the radiator off. found the major problem. i will try and explain this as im sure just about 99.9% know what im talking about. after i pulled the radiator off. i saw that the hose going from the sensor unit to the top of the engine was shot. yep thats where she blew the hose. now the radiator looks verry clean no rust inside a few dings in a few fins no holes. ok it looks like new hoses maybe all around? and i think the sensor was not working as PO put in a switch to turn the fan on. now i forgot about this switch while warming it up to see where what i thought was a pesky small leak. now this looks like it wont be hard to put back together? let me tell you proper tools and take your time works well. and im feeling prety good that some of my skills and doing things are comming back slowly. now here is another question what the heck is with this plastic rubber thing on top of the engine? and is it a needed part. it sits over the head in the way of that hose on top of the engine. well i just saw its pretty much shot and was just held on with hope and a prayer . can it remain off? and now a big shout out where DO I FIND THESE HOSES???

just checking to see if the man is around i sent him a few PM .s but he must be busy?
  6. im still working on it i did get the stripped screws out and radiator shroud off. now i went and sprayed every nut and bolt before i attempt to remove it. something about 27 year old rusted nuts and bolts scare me. i did not even attempt to turn them. i got some spray from a friend who called it monkey pi$$ ?? he said soak them for a day try a socket to see if they budge spray again soak over night and he said them bolts should turn easy. also said start with a short ratchet before trying a larger one he said he seen to many pepole get in a hurry use the mighty ratchet and a pipe and then go awww sh##. time consumming project this is . i did notice that one of the hoses was swollen? right hand side faceing the bike. this might have blew? im praying for something simple. but skydoc has my back if he dont sell that radiator before i get a chance at it. every nut and bolt and screw i pull off this is being replaced with new. the shroud ones that hold the side covers can there be a way to find a acorn type headed screw this way i could use a socket instead of a screw driver and it would look kind of cool? anyways its pouring down rain here at the storage unit so going to put lap top away and head for the home land..
  7. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: now thats funny i have to remember not to drink something while reading these. the monitor gets sprayed sometimes..

    tool

impact driver i tried that thats what made it worse then the oversize screwdriver got it to move some. cant get vice grips on it as its in a recess hole easy out looks nice and cheap too i take it its a drill a piolt hole then use the easy out? im takeing my time witht his i should have had the radiator out but witht he limited tools i have. im going to need a cordless drill unless there is an essy out that does not require that. i do have a t handle from an old tap and die set my dad had. but i borrowed out the set to a half brother and of course all i got back was the handle? i saw some cheap cordless drills with revers for $20 and this easy out set from amazon looks like an option. thanks every one:fingers-crossed-emo

    tool

anyone every heard of a tool called grabit? im working on pulling the radiator on my 84 yamaha venture got some things off but need to remove the chrome plastic covers and of course there are 2 verry rounded off screws there. i tried a bigger phillips screw driver and they moved about 3 turns when that damn screw driver slipped and rounded them off to where it looks like i have to use some kind of extractor. and it looks like the grabit tool just drills and burnish then flip the tool and remove the screw. of course i have to get a cordless drill as there is no outlets in the storage unit for a elcectric one. if any one else has any ideas on removing these screws let me know.
  11. hmm yep the cap was off to flush and fill prior to winter storage? will check the cap never hurts to start easy and go from there. and the side covers i allways put things back on most of the time
  12. ok heres another one i thought you where the most beautifull woman i ever saw untill i went to the eye doctor and he gave me glasses..
  13. i agree with you on that sure beats payments but gee what some pepole put on things to hold then together will freak you out. lets see i have 2 rounded off screws that holds the shroud on and the right lower so drill time? try to get the heads of them off. there are regular allen and phiilips where just phillips should be. zip ties where a bolt should be but thank god the threads are there and i will put the right bolt screw or what ever belongs there? so what i thought might be a 2 to 3 hour job to pull it apart looks like a all day job if i can find someone with a cordless drill to remove them rounded off screws LOL i think the job will go like this drill out a screw drink a beer drill out another screw go pee and drink another beer. that will get the shroud off then get down look over the other bolts screws zip ties and decide to have another beer while going hmm should be easy but mostly like something will go wrong. so cuss a few time get to the ones that will come lose easy then drink another beer. go pee take a short nap in the car as the beer is starting to take affect. wake up wonder what i was doing? theng et back at it again. get it all apart call it a day wait for the parts to come in from some of the greates pepole here.. then it should go back together easier when i get the right bolts screws nuts and what ever then go get some souther comfort and look at it and go next mont or so i ride....
  14. well as some know i have been trying to trace down what was a small pesky leak. thought i had it figured out. some donated parts from dingy have been sent out to me (thanks gary for the thought) well today a friend of mine who is a car mechanic and i decided to check it out we pulled it out of the storage unit and fired it up waiting for the warm up as it wouldnt leak until warmed? we got down to shine a light up there when we heard a loud pop hot anitfreeze hit both of us i got some small burns on my arm same with him. looks like the radiator blew? at least i hope thats it and not a head gasket or the engine. she was still running though after the loud pop and antifreeze all over front of the engine. im now sad and angry .. angry as i used to be able to do work on smaller bikes. sad that i just cant keep going with this being dissabled and low on $$$ makes it a every day struggle i realy want to be out there and ride. maybe when the title comes in for the bike someone here might make a fair offer on the old girl? i know that most here have the experience to put the old girl together and maybe the $$ to do it. well time for some southern comfort and a hankie to drown my sorrows and dry my tears...
  15. prayers offerd up. hope all goes well
  16. thanks gary sorry i didnt see this right away. sure can use the parts. i dont have the radiator out yet thats tomorrows job weather permitting.. going to shine a more powerfull light on the area. i need to pull the side covers off and the lowers to clean up the engine some. a little grime here and there. before i go to install that plug. you say a sparkplug will screw in there than just pull on the plug and it should pop out? ok now to install just push in the new one useing the plug as a tool also? thanks james aka oldgoat
  17. verry good but i did most of this on a sunday so i stripped out the oil drain plug on the pan. so no parts store to get an oversize one. wife at the time is pregnant and there by goes into labor. no way to get her to the hospital as the car is sitting on jack stands. i started to lose my hearing from the screaming going on. called my mother-inlaw who never liked me anyways to come take us to the hospitial . stay 14 hours false labor so go home wait untill monday hitch a ride to get oversize drain plug. put in drain plug fill up with oil. take car off jack stands only to find out the 2 front tires are flat? neighbor has my air compressor and he,s not home. but garage is open so i go in and get my compressor half hour latter a cop comes and charges me with tresspassing. seems the neighbors kid was home and i scared her. got that all taken care of. only to find out the compressor cord has been cut? ok splice a new cord on the compressor plug in to wall socket blow all the fuses to the house? wife starts screaming again shes realy in labor this time. i called the mother-inlaw again tould her to take the wife and not me this time. called a friend and went fishing. so lets see oil change cost around $70 divorce lawyer about $2000 house payments and child support for 18 years about 100 grand loss of my corvette and bass boat. yep i should have went to jiffy lube:whistling:
  18. i will be pulling the radiator the leak looks like it is somewhere behind the radiator? also dingy i do have a little weeping on the right rear same area as your pic. i dont want to pull that apart with out haveing the plugs and am i going to lose a lot of coolant performing this task? im thinking thermostat houseing leak as it doesnt look like the drain plug might be the bypass valve? just not sure at this point my knees and back are killing me to squat at this point. and running aropund and getting ready to head up to brainerd MN to give my daughter away on her wedding day which is may 20th and i have to be there the 18th time and$$ are a little bit of a problem right now. but with gas prices the way they are the bike will become my get away ride as much as it can. i figure i have towing service and the members list so dont be scared after its fixed ride the pi$$ out of it. time to put some miles on this old girl...
  19. yep the zoom on them cameras can make any thing big:whistling:
  20. treat her like the wife you allways wanted.. nice to see shes back home where she belongs..
  21. congrats and enjoy soon they will want to borrow the bike the car your$$ you get the idea
  22. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf:
  23. just cant find that pesky leak it runs down the right side of the frame faceing the bike from the top to the shift lever then down onto the ground? i will try and get some pics to show.. now this drip does not start untill the bike has warmed up for say 4 to 5 minutes and only when i shut the bike off and put it on its side stand? radiator leak in the back? only leaks when under preasure? how hard is it to pull that radiator? i will not put aditives in a motorcycle like stop leak stuff like that. i just dont believe in doing that to a bike.
  24. well i decided it was time to take the scoot out for a ride. nice 70 degree day. i went to the storage place noticed the rear tire was low(expected that) brought along a poratable tank for that job. got the tire up. started the old girl up still needs half a choke? carb snyc due? well after a breif warm up a little sputering off we went. things are going good. 75 mile ride round trip. i thought oh joy joy i got most of the bugs out of this old girl. i put her away in the storage shead got off put my helmet away when the old girl gave me a tearfull green leak on the floor? yep small antifreze leak. have no clue where its comming from?? the leak is dripping on the left side as you sit on the bike. right by the exhaust header or inbetween? i got so much$$ invested in this bike now. i just cant give up on her can I? i must say in august i might get a second bike and send this one out to a fellow member here who would like to take the time to go through this bike of course i expect to pay for services renderd. so if any one wants to work on it during winter time and if i can get it to you let me know james aka oldgoat
